Minnesota’s “Hands-on living history festival” presents hundreds of actors from all over the United States authentically re-creating American history from different eras. Presidents, cowboys, fur traders, Canadian revolutionary war soldiers, Native Americans, civil war soldiers and even day-to-day citizens entertain and teach about the era they represent. The actors (who do this for a living) come from all over the U.S. to “plant some real history into student’s minds”. Students can sift for gold, throw an axe, watch a real civil war cannon be fired, eat different kinds of era foods, and much more.

Learn about stagecoaches and U.S. mail delivery

See the firing of live rounds using a real civil war cannon

We Tackle Tough Issues with Gentle MessengersCRITTERS AND COMPANY

WILDLIFE SHOWS… WITH A PURPOSE Since the 1980’s, Critters and Company has presented to more than 750,000 individuals in schools, businesses, communities and churches. Greg Olson uses a medium of live animals and storytelling, advocating that each individual has the potential for building a better life - hence a better world. Students will see and hear important concepts in character development as these concepts relate to a variety of animals (a few of which are shown on this page) - all applying to life experiences and supporting MN education standards. Now available through Critters & Company: Teacher workshops & staff inservices for your organization’s professionals: • “Classroom Management: Preventing Bullying Before it happens” • “When Bad Things Happen, Keep it Simple” • Anti-Harrassment • Customer Service • Successful Attitudes Greg’s memorable workshop presentations for your Senior High students or inservice workshops for your staff will include our complimentary skill developing exercises.

“The number of discipline referrals for misbehavior has decreased since Critters and Company has presented at our school. Students have been very receptive to these positive messages. Rob Nudell

“We have invited Mr. Olson to share the message of respect and responsibility with our staff and students for many years. Our students have learned important messages in character development from Critters and Company, all while they are entertained and motivated by the beautiful creatures that Mr. Olson brings into our school. “There has been a wealth of information available to us through this program that we would not be aware of, otherwise. We are in South Dakota, so it is quite feasible for our Crew to travel a few hours to utilize so many of the programs offered. Both the website and the email updates are great, and as a result, we are now in the process of planning a 'Snorkeling with the Sharks' trip @ Sea Life Aquarium at MOA. We even recruited more Scouts & Leaders just on the idea of doing that trip! Thank you for such an awesome resource!”Crew Chairperson, Venture Crew 22, BSA, Milbank, SD
