The future is the indefinite time period which will occur after the present. Its arrival is considered inevitable due to the existence of time and the laws of physics. Due to the nature of this reality, Premier Alliance is constantly evolving and changing to adjust to the future. In the philosophy of time, presentism is the belief that only the present exists. While this is the time we currently live and work at having the flexibility to react and make the necessary changes to our business model is what the future beholds. Future studies, or futurology, is the science, art and practice of postulating possible futures. At Premier we pride ourselves on using this model to become the future practitioner of tomorrow’s office solutions.

USS Intrepid (CV/CVA/CVS-11), also known as The Fighting “I”, is one of 24 Essex-class air-craft carriers built during World War II for the Unit-ed States Navy. She is the fourth US Navy ship
to bear the name. Commissioned in August 1943, Intrep-id participated in several campaigns in the Pacific The-ater of Operations, most notably the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Decommissioned shortly after the end of the war, she was mod-ernized and recommissioned in the early 1950s as an attack carrier (CVA), and then eventually became an antisubmarine carrier (CVS). In her second career, she served mainly in the Atlantic, but also participated in the Vietnam War. Her notable achievements include being the recovery ship for a Mercury and a Gemini space mission. Because of her prominent role in battle, she was nicknamed “the Fighting I”, while her often ill-luck and the time spent in dry dock for repairs earned her the nickname “the Dry I”. Decommissioned in 1974, in 1982 Intrepid became the foundation of the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum now a living landmark on Manhattans west side.
USS Intrepid
Intrepid was launched on 26 April 1943 by Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co., Newport News, Virginia, the fifth Essex-class aircraft carrier to be launched. She was sponsored by the wife of Vice Admiral John H. Hoover. On 16 August 1943, she was commissioned with Captain Thomas L. Sprague in command before heading to the Caribbean for shakedown and training. Intrepid’s motto upon setting sail was “In Mare In Caelo”, which means “On the sea, in the sky”, or “In the sea in Heaven”.
World War II
Intrepid has one of the most distinguished service records of any Navy ship, seeing active service in the Pacific Theater in-cluding the Marshall Islands, Truk, Leyte Gulf, and Okinawa. At war’s end, she was in Eniwetok and soon supported occupa-tion forces providing air support and supply services before heading back to California.

Marshalls, January–February 1944
3 December 1943: Intrepid sailed from Na-val Station Norfolk for San Francisco, then to Hawaii.
10 January: She arrived at Pearl Harbor and prepared for the invasion of the Mar-shall Islands, the next objective in the Na-vy’s massive island-hopping campaign.
16 January: She left Pearl Harbor with car-riers Cabot and Essex.
29 January–2 February 1944: She raided islands at the northeastern corner of Kwa-jalein Atoll and pressed the attack until the last opposition had vanished.
31 January: By then, the raids destroyed all of the 83 Japanese aircraft based on Roi-Namur. The first landings were made on adjacent islets. That morning, Intrepid’s aircraft strafed Ennuebing Island until 10 minutes before the first Marines reached the beaches. Thirty minutes later, that is-let — which protected Roi’s southwestern flank and controlled the North Pass into Kwajalein Lagoon — was secured, en-abling Marines to set up artillery to support their assault on Roi.
2 February 1944: Her work in the capture of the Marshall Islands was now finished. Intrepid headed for Truk, the tough Japa-nese base in the center of Micronesia.
17 February: Three fast carrier groups ar-rived undetected at daybreak.
17 February–18 February: The three carrier groups sank two Japanese destroyers and 200,000 tons (180,000 tonnes) of merchant

shipping in two days of almost continuous attacks in Operation Hailstone. The carrier raid demonstrated Truk’s vulnerability and thereby greatly curtailed its usefulness to the Japanese as a base.17 February 1944: That night, an aerial torpedo struck Intrepid’s starboard quar-ter, 15 ft (5 m) below her waterline, flood-ing several compartments and distorting her rudder. By running her port engines at full power and stopping her starboard en-gines or running them at ⅓ ahead, Captain Sprague kept her roughly on course. Her crew moved all the aircraft on deck for-ward to increase her headsail to further aid in control.[1]
19 February: Strong winds overpowered the improvised steering and left her with her bow pointed toward Tokyo. Sprague later confessed: “Right then I wasn’t in-terested in going in that direction.” At this point the crew made a jury-rig sail of wood, cargo nets, and canvas to further increase her headsail, allowing Intrepid to hold her course.
24 February 1944: Intrepid reached Pearl Harbor.
16 March: After temporary repairs, Intrepid sailed for the West Coast.
22 March: She arrived at Hunter’s Point, California.
June 1944: She was back in fighting trim and departed for two months of operations out of Pearl Harbor, then to the Marshalls.
Palaus and Philippines, September–November 1944
6 September and 7 September 1944: In-
trepid’s aircraft struck Japanese positions in the Palaus concentrating on airfields and artillery emplacements on Peleliu.
8 September: Her fast carrier task force steamed west toward the southern Philip-pines.
9 September and 10 September: She struck airfields on Mindanao.
12 through 14 September: She raided bas-es in the Visayan Sea.
17 September: She returned to the Palaus to support Marines in overcoming oppo-sition from hillside caves and mangrove swamps on Peleliu.
When the struggle settled down to root-ing Japanese defenders out of the ground man-to-man, Intrepid steamed back to the Philippines to prepare the way for libera-tion. She struck throughout the Philippines, also pounding Okinawa and Formosa to neutralize Japanese air threats to Leyte.
20 October 1944: Intrepid’s aircraft flew missions in support of the Leyte landings. Japan’s Navy, desperately striving to hold the Philippines, was converging on Leyte Gulf from three directions.
23 October to 26 October 1944: Ships of the U.S. Navy parried thrusts in four major actions collectively known as the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
24 October morning: An Intrepid aircraft spotted Vice Admiral Takeo Kurita’s flag-ship, Yamato. Two hours later, aircraft from Intrepid and Cabot braved intense antiair-craft fire to begin a day-long attack on Cen-ter Force. Wave after wave followed until

Intrepid in the Philippine sea, November 1944
by sunset American carrier-based aircraft sank battleship Musashi and damaged her sister ship Yamato, along with battleships Nagato and Haruna and heavy cruiser Myōkō, forcing Myōkō to withdraw.
That night, Admiral William Halsey’s 3rd Fleet raced north to intercept Japan’s Northern Force which had been spotted off the northeastern tip of Luzon. At day-break, aircraft took off to attack the Japa-nese ships then off Cape Engaño. One of Intrepid’s aircraft got a bomb into light car-rier Zuihō. American bombers then sank her sister ship Chitose, and an aircraft from either Intrepid or San Jacinto scored a tor-pedo hit on fleet carrier Zuikaku knocking out her communications and hampering her steering. Destroyer Akizuki sank and at least nine of Ozawa’s 15 aircraft were shot down.
Throughout the day, the attack continued and, after five more strikes, Japan had lost four carriers and a destroyer. The still-potent Center Force, after push-ing through San Bernardino Strait, had steamed south along the coast of Samar where it was held at bay by a small escort carrier group of six “baby flattops”, three destroyers, and four destroyer escorts until help arrived and it went back towards Ja-pan.
As Intrepid’s aircraft hit Clark Field on 30 October, a burning kamikaze crashed into one of the carrier’s port gun tubs killing 10 men and wounding six. Soon skillful dam-age control work enabled the flattop to re-sume flight operations. Intrepid’s aircraft continued to hit airfields and shipping in the Philippines.
25 November, shortly after noon: A heavy force of Japanese aircraft struck back at the carriers. Within five minutes, two kami-kazes crashed into the carrier killing six of-ficers and five crew. (Actual report from Air Group 18 states “sixty were dead, fifteen missing, and about one hundred wound-ed.” Intrepid never lost propulsion nor left had her station in the task group, and in less than two hours extinguished the last blaze.[2]
26 November: Intrepid headed for San Francisco.
20 December: She arrived there for re-pairs. Okinawa and Japan, March–December 1945
Mid February 1945: Back in fighting trim, the carrier steamed for Ulithi.
13 March: She arrived at Ulithi. 14 March 1945: She set off eastward. 18 March: She made powerful strikes against airfields on Kyūshū. That morning a twin-engined Japanese G4M “Betty” broke through a curtain of defensive fire turned toward Intrepid and exploded only 50 ft (15 m) off Intrepid’s forward boat crane. A shower of flaming gasoline and aircraft parts started fires on the hangar deck, but damage control teams quickly put them out. Intrepid’s aircraft joined attacks on rem-nants of the Japanese fleet anchored at
Kure damaging 18 enemy naval vessels, including battleship Yamato and carrier Amagi. The carriers turned to Okinawa as L-Day, the start of the most ambitious amphibious assault of the Pacific war, approached. 26 March and 27 March: Their aircraft at-tacked the Ryūkyūs, softening up enemy defensive works. 1 April 1945: The invasion began on 1 April. They flew support missions against targets on Okinawa and made neutralizing raids against Japanese airfields in range of the island. 16 April: During an air raid, a Japanese air-craft dived into Intrepid’s flight deck forcing the engine and part of her fuselage right on through, killing eight men and wounding 21. In less than an hour the flaming gaso-line had been extinguished, and only three hours after the crash, aircraft were again landing on the carrier. 17 April: Intrepid retired homeward via Ulithi and Pearl Harbor. 19 May: She arrived at San Francisco for repairs. 29 June: Intrepid left San Francisco. 6 August: In passing, her aircraft smashed Japanese on bypassed Wake Island. 7 August: She arrived at Eniwetok. 15 August: At Eniwetok she received word to “cease offensive operations.” 21 August: The veteran carrier got under way to support the occupation of Japan. 2 December: She departed Yokosuka. 15 December 1945: She arrived San Pedro, California.

Post-War
In 1976, Intrepid was moored at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia and hosted exhibits as part of the United States Bi-centennial celebrations.
Plans originally called for Intrepid to be scrapped after decommis-sioning, but a campaign led by real estate developer Zachary Fisher and the Intrepid Museum Foundation saved the carrier, and estab-lished it as a museum ship. In August 1982, the ship opened in New York City as the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum. Four years later, Intrepid was officially designated as a National Historic Landmark
Over the years, Intrepid has hosted many special events including wrestling events, press conferences, parties and the FBI opera-tions center after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
2006–2008 renovation
Throughout the last several years, the Intrepid museum has operat-ed a fund for the restoration, raising over $60 million to refit Intrepid, to improve its exhibits for visitors, and improve Pier 86.
In early July 2006, it was announced that Intrepid would undergo renovations and repairs, along with Pier 86 itself. It closed on 1 October 2006, in preparation for its towing to Bayonne, New Jersey for repairs, and later Staten Island, New York for renovation and temporary docking.[7][8]
On 6 November 2006, an attempt to remove the aircraft carrier from the pier for restoration was temporarily put on hold by the Coast Guard. Despite the use of several tugs with a combined 30,000 hp
(22,000 kW), officials said the ship was stuck in 24 years worth of accumulated silt and would not move.
On 11 November 2006, the United States Navy announced that it would spend $3 million to dredge the mud and silt from under Intrepid. The effort was led by the United States Navy Supervisor of Salvage and Diving with assistance from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, United States Coast Guard, and contractors. The teams operated for three weeks to clear the site of mud and silt.
On 5 December 2006, after the removal of 39,000 cu yd (30,000 m3) of muck from under the ship and around its four giant screws, Intrepid was successfully removed from its pier and was towed to Bayonne.
Intrepid made a D-Day “landing” on Staten Island, 6 June 2007, after being towed from a slip at Bayonne Dry Dock & Repair Corp.
While in Staten Island, Intrepid underwent the next phase of her refurbishment, and received an $8 million interior renovation. Nev-er-before-seen areas of the ship including the forecastle (fo’c’sle, commonly known as the anchor chain room), general berthing quarters and the ship’s machine shop were opened to the public for the first time. The hangar deck features a new layout and design including new interactive exhibits. Total cost of the renovation was $120 million — $55 million for the ship and $65 million for Pier 86.
The carrier was towed back into place on the Hudson River on 2 October 2008 and reopened to the public on 8 November.

CoffeeCoffee is one of the world’s most popular beverages. Some claim it is the most widely con-sumed liquid in the world aside from water. Coffee is more than a beverage due to the caffeine it harbors and to its sensory pleasure. Coffee lovers come to associate the energizing lift of the caffeine with the richness and aroma of the beverage that delivers it.
Coffee is produced from the seeds of a small red (sometimes yellow) fruit that grows on plants halfway in size between shrub and tree. It is a very labor intensive process involving an ex-tensive collaboration that starts with the coffee grower, is picked by hand, sent to the mill for workers to meticulously remove the fruit and dry the beans. After the beans are cleaned and graded, they are sent to the roaster, usually by ship, and finally to those consumers and baristas who grind the beans and prepare the beverage. It is the cumulative quality of all of these creative contributions that together make the difference between a lackluster cup and a fine and distinctive one.
At Premier Supplies we pride ourselves on having the right solution to facilitate your cof-fee requirements, keeping your employees energized. To learn more please speak with our break time connoisseur Larry Frolow at 973.271.9159 or [email protected]

Jump Cart
Stop the old way of ordering your supplies. Having someone walk around with a clip-board or order sheet, making notes of which supplies are running low, then manually entering the order into an ecommerce system is no way to run a tight ship. The risks are expensive: transposing figures from paper to keyboard can cause costly errors and buyers who ignore carefully negotiated supply agreements in favor of vendor “specials of the week⅓ may save money on an item or two, but ultimately results in higher costs.
JumpCart automates your supply ordering process, leading to greater efficiency, low-er costs and increased order accuracy. Simply scan a barcode for the supplies you wish to order using our compact keyfob scanner, then plug the scanner into your PC and upload the order. No more pen and paper, and no manually keying in orders.
The JumpCart System helps decrease costs associated with inventory and supply management. Reduce requisition-to-order cycles. Minimize inventory carrying costs.

Light Bulbs
The incandescent light bulb, incandescent lamp or incandescent light globe produces light by heating a filament wire to a high temperature until it glows. The hot filament is protected from oxidation in the air with a glass enclosure that is filled with inert gas or evacuated. In a halogen lamp, filament evaporation is prevented by a chemical process that re-deposits metal vapor onto the filament, extending its life. The light bulb is supplied with electrical current by feed-through terminals or wires em-bedded in the glass. Most bulbs are used in a socket which provides mechanical support and electrical connections.
Incandescent bulbs are manufactured in a wide range of sizes, light out-put, and voltage ratings, from 1.5 volts to about 300 volts. They require no external regulating equipment, have low manufacturing costs. As we evolve and take responsibility for the energy and lighting we use, Premier Supplies features the correct lighting solutions for your needs today and tomorrow with the newest LED lighting solutions.

Computer / Data Center StorageMagnetic & Optical Media
Magnetic storage and Optical Media are terms from engineering referring to the storage of data on a magnetized medium. Magnetic storage uses different patterns of magnetization in a magnetizable material to store data and is a form of non-vol-atile memory. The information is accessed using one or more read/write heads. As of 2011, magnetic storage media, primarily hard disks, are widely used to store computer data as well as audio and video signals. In the field of computing, the term magnetic storage is preferred and in the field of audio and video production, the term magnetic recording is more commonly used. Magnetic storage in the form of audio recording on a wire was pub-licized by Oberlin Smith in 1888. He filed a patent in September, 1878 but did not pursue the idea as his business was machine tools. The first publicly demonstrated (Paris Exposition of 1900) magnetic recorder was invented by Valdemar Poulsen in 1898. At Premier Supplies we feature the latest in technologies ranging from DLT’s, LTO’s, Optical, and Hard Disk Storage from all major manufacturers.

Toner Supplies
Toner is a powder used in laser printers and photocopiers to form the printed text and images on the paper. In its early form it was simply carbon powder. Then, to improve the quality of the printout, the carbon was melt-mixed with a polymer in 7-10 microns in size. Today’s state of the art printers utilize a particle from 3-5 mi-crons in size for the sharpest of sharp images. Toner parti-cles are melted by the heat of the fuser, and bind to the paper. Modern laser toner cartridges intended for use in color copiers and printers come in cyan, magenta, and yellow and black (CMYK). Today’s modern Facility or Facilities Manager (FM) is an inter-disciplinary field devoted to the co-ordination of business sup-port services, often associated with maintenance functions in buildings such as offices, arenas, schools, convention centers, shopping complexes, hospitals, hotels, etc. However, FM sup-ports the business on a much wider range of activities than just maintenance and these are referred to as non core functions. Many of these are outlined below but they do vary from one business sector to another.
FM can be defined as the integration and alignment of the non-core services, including those relating to premises, required to operate and maintain a business to fully support the core ob-jectives of the organization (planning, design, workplace, con-struction, lease, occupancy, maintenance, furniture, cleaning, vending, coffee, break-room etc)
According to the International Facility Management Associa-tion (IFMA), it is: “a profession that encompasses multiple dis-ciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by inte-grating people, place, processes and technology.”
Over the years, FM has been growing as a business field and also as a scientific discipline, slowly finding and anchoring its position among organizations’ business processes. Nowadays, the dedication of FM is unsurpassed and when working with Premier Supplies we are dedicated to continuous innovation and developing processes to keep our professional partners on step ahead.

The outcomes of work are intended for what can be called the final receiving system, as for instance, client, customer, and other departments.
The areas of expertise are vast, budget development and im-plementation, purchasing, book keeping, accounting, printing, records management, forms management, payroll, risk man-agement, health and safety, while coordinating with human re-sources, facilities and finance. THE CHALLENGE:
To engage people in a meaningful atmosphere while making it fun and informative. It was January 10th of 2012 and our executive team was meeting to discuss new and innovative ideas to grow business. We have all been to shows before when you take far too many vendors and products and just bombard your clients with information and hope some sticks. Through our discussion the idea was presented about having a show aboard the USS Intrepid which is a living museum here on the Westside of Manhattan. After all the ship has a 17,000 square foot room, a flight deck and the newest attraction being the USS Enterprise Space Shuttle would make for quite the setting. However we still needed to make it fun, exciting, informative about what today’s professionals are faced with. We also required a transportation system to get people back to main hubs after the event for the commute home.We had to attract Marketing Professionals, Facility Managers, Procurement & Purchasing Coordinators and show them value as to why they should interrupt their day look at our video, then attend our event, not an easy task!
FUN:
We decided to make this a Mission Possible theme where our participants could be part of a game and actually use spy glasses to decode their mission cards which were personalized for them to visit key manufactures, drop their card into a bin and be reg-istered to win prizes that evening.
THE INVITATION:
Print by Premier + More were challenged with this task, develop a concept which is unique, informative and would generate curios-ity. We had a think tank session using our core philosophy “Creative Free Thinking” with some exceptional minds and this is what we came up with. We developed an amazing, and the results “ROMI” return on marketing investment was exceptional, above all of our expectations..
THE CROSS MEDIA ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN:
We started with a unique design using the latest in stamping, papers from Neenah, Offset Lithography and personalization via digi-tal along with mounting and fulfillment, direct mail, email, video, personalized URL’s. We welcomed our guests with a very unique package for the front end and provided management with a easy to use real time backend reporting module, which is all part of our on-line technology. We then added another dimension utilizing red lenses within glasses which optically allow for hidden mes-sages to be part of the custom mission cards, also part of the invitation package and digitally printed.
PROGRAMMING:
Using our own in house technology we had our professional team design the solution. We started with great data, a solid easy to use platform we call our Basic’s Corporate Store. The solution allows for variable data print, email, Personal URL’s, video all to be developed and launched within 2 weeks of designing the program. The beauty of our solution is you do not need to have a programming degree, be a designer or be a creative genius. The technology does it for you with some very easy to use industry leading steps.
STATISTICS ENGINE:
The backend of the solution is every bit as easy to use as the front end. All statistics: views of pages, soft and hard bounces, IP addresses, time spent, questions answered, RSVP’s are all available to be viewed and exported in real time with some very simple clicks of a mouse.

• Personal URL’s sent via email were looked at by 50% of the people who received them• The RSVP’s in the first 3 days totaled over 15.3% of the 1300 people who received the email. • The average email campaign usually sees a response rate of 7-13%
The Facts:• On 2000 Cross Media Campaign we have netted over 450 Attendees a 25% success rate• On the 1300 emailed only campaigns we netted over 200 attendees a 15.38% success rate

More than a decade ago Sappi Fine Paper North America— the maker of McCoy, Opus, Somerset and Flo — established the Ideas that Matter grant program to recognize and support designers who generously donate their time and talent to a wide range of charitable activities. Even today, Ideas that Matter remains the only grant program of its kind in the industry. Since 1999, Ideas that Matter has funded over 500 nonprofit projects, contributing $12 million worldwide to causes that enhance our lives, our communities and our planet.

You can’t afford a paper that goes into a slump, hits an off
note or gives anything less than 110 percent. You need a winner.

every time with Grade A precision. That’s what you should
expect when you bring your A game. And that’s what you’ll

At the core of our business is the tree. Without healthy
forests, we wouldn’t exist. So when we say that sustainability
is important to us at International Paper, you can believe it.
Sustainability has been a part of International Paper’s practices
for more than 110 years. It is our passion and commitment
to deliver the products that printers want while ensuring
responsible stewardship of natural resources today and for gen-
erations to come.
Part of that commitment is certified by the
Sustainable Forestry Initiative, the Forest
Stewardship Council and the Programme
for the Endorsement of Forest Certification,
as it applies to our chain of custody and
fiber sourcing. In fact, all Accent Cover
sheets are now FSC® certified.
When you print on Accent Opaque, you
can be confident that you are part of the
environmental solution. You get to feel
warm and fuzzy while your printing gets
to remain clean and sharp.
