^^^^^^^^^^^^^^M bility for the OPW and have thoroughly enjoyed my time and experience while ^M ^^J^SJw^^^E ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^M ensuring government policy is adopted and implemented. The range of activities

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^| of the OPW throughout the years has been vast and varied and its workings have ^M ^^BBHB^\
^^^^^^^^^^^^^B touched almost every part of the country. From its beginnings in 1831 it has pro- H MHW^'^'">?: ^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^B vided harbours, roads, famine relief, inland navigation, public buildings including H T^W^Jttte^ .?w
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^H schools, garda stations and many other government facilities. ^m ?UHP^'
^^^^^^^^^^^^^B The true test of any organisation is its people and credit must be given to the ^^^^^^^^^^^BB
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^| many dedicated staff, past and present, within the OPW who have been ^1 j?^^SZ^'^-BB
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^| acclaimed in many journals of note for their professionalism and excellence. ^1 '?^ \g. \wl
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^B Today the OPW continues in fine tradition of delivery of services through its ^M *9&& ̂ *"%"?BB[
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^M business units to other government bodies and the general public. Its fine tradi- ^M ?I* -^^jjfflB
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^B tion in quality architecture, engineering and management of the state property ^^JB^j^^^?j||B|
^^^^^^^^^^^^^B portfolio have been recognised by one and all. It has once again assumed ^^^^BVBHH ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^B responsibility for the care and maintenance of our built heritage, and the com-

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^B mitment by the wider OPW is absolute. No one can argue that the care of this ^m |KpJp|^VBp||l?
