HOW TO INSTALL THE 11i APPLICATIONS :
Get the Installation guide & Release Notes from Metalink.oracle.com or
Otn.oracle.com orwww.4shared.com
Get the software from Metalink.oracle.com
Login by username & password
Get the software which consists of many zip files
Disk Space Requirements (file system)
The size of the application tier file system objects in a single nodeinstallation
(which includes iAS/8.0.6 ORACLE_HOME, COMMON_TOP, andAPPL_TOP) is
approximately 26 GB.The disk size required for the database tier files is approximately 32
GB for a fresh install database and 75 GB for a Vision Demodatabase
A fresh install requires approximately 60 GB & Vision requires approximately 105
GB.
The size of the zip files is 24 GB. So we must have at least the space of 75 GB for the
Mount point.
Creation of OraInventory (oraInst .loc) is not required if it exits then you need to take
a backup of this file, system itself creates.
If you plan to install more than one system on a node, use the same oraInventory for
all OUI-based installations.
The location of the oraInventory is stored in the file oraInst.loc
The default location for this file is : /etc/oraInst.loc and /var/opt/oracle for other
UNIX platforms
Contents of this file oraInventory are shown below
From root user$ cd /etc/
$ vi oraInst.loc
The contents of oraInst.loc
#oracle 11i Apps
inventory_loc=/apps/oraprod/oraInventory

eg: appsprod
Change the ownership & permissions for the mount point
chown -R oraprod:dba location
chmod -R 777 location
Login to user oraprod
su oraprod

Save the configuration fileYou have now completed all the information Rapid Install needs to
set up and install a singlenode system. The Save Instance-specificConfiguration screen asks you to save the values you have enteredin the wizard in a configuration file (config.txt ).
The configuration file contains all the information required toconfigure a specific Oracle Applications instance. Rapid Install usesthese values during the installation to create the file system, installthe database, and configure and start the server processes. It thenstores the values in a central repository called a context file, whichyou can use to modify the system configuration at any time after theinstallation is complete.
The default location of the config.txt file is the system temporary
directory. Its a good idea to choose a permanent directory locationbecause you may use this file at a later date. Enter a directory pathor click Browse to navigate to a new directory path.
