10NTC SCANvenger Hunt
Adventures through the Social Media Landscape

Objective:

(i.e. the activity to rawk all activities!)
CAPACITY
Everyone!!
(potentially, if EVERYONE played, there would be
300 teams, that’s 4,500 pieces of
content all over the interwebs about
#10NTC)
Get teams of 3 to complete and document 15 tasks, discovered by barcodes, to win the game.
How To Play
Create Teams of 3-5 members, including a: Mobile Maven- someone with a barcode
readin’ cell phone (currently, any iPhone, android, blackberry)
Laptop Laborer- someone with a laptop Flippin’ Filmer- someone with a flipcam (or
video recording device, kodak..?)
Teams will register, and will receive a Tag (#10NTC-000), and a list of activities where barcodes are hidden
Instructions
Teams will attend activities, and find barcodes that will give them a task to complete during their time at the activity.
Teams will document their completion of the task, and post it to the appropriate place with their assigned tag. (i.e. post your picture to flickr with your tag)
Examples of Tasks
Ignite Session
Create an ignite type presentation based on your team’s experience at 10NTC so far (using your favorite presentation site i.e. prezi, slideshare)
Write a blog post on your teams favorite ignite session
Social Dinner Event
Check in on your favorite Location-based site (foursquare, brightkite, loopt), and add a tip on the place.
Post a photo of your dish on Nom.ms
Examples of Tasks
Registration
Present your team to the world by video! (be as creative as you’d like, but be sure to include info on who each person is)
Opening Plenary
Tweet a quote and a query from the plenary
Science Fair
Create a team badge out of your swag.
Lunch
Take a pic of your lunch table, and tag on facebook
How To Win
Once the team completes their 15 tasks, and documents them, they will create a video showing each completed task.
Videos will be judged by a group (or online?), and the team winners receive a prize.

Qualifying Rules Each team has to be comprised of at least two people living
in a different state from you.
Each task has to be completed with a minimum of three team members present and participating, unless specified
Each task has to be tagged with your identifying tag
Each team should be able to identify the place they scanned the barcode, preventing “cheating”
Activities will span 3 days, so no team should be done by day 2
Completion Videos can be submitted through Sunday April 11
Completion Videos will be judged on creative task completion, and video creativity

Printer to create barcodes with text info
Stickers for barcodes to put all over
Prize for winning team
Place for teams to register
Site to aggregate overall team content, and broadcast to attendees
Group of people to judge team completion videos
Extra Ideas?Scramble Scan
There’s 9 extra golden barcodes that have links to pieces of a photo, that you have to put together and decipher the photo. Teams who collect all 9 links, and decipher the photo get a super secret prize.
Barcode BuzzWord BingoTeams are given a bingo card with different codes. Each barcode you scan has a BuzzWord in it. If you make bingo, you get a super secret prize.
