10-Year Anniversary Celebration Event – Sponsorship & Donation Information

2016 is a landmark year for African Culture Connection as we celebrate ten years of providing high quality cultural arts and multicultural education. In a time when racism continues to divide people and communities, we welcome the opportunity to unify communities through a two-day celebration that recognizes the gifts that multiculturalism brings to all.

On July 8th and 9th African Culture Connection is planning a ten-year anniversary celebration titled "A Celebration of Storytelling: Voice of African Instruments" that promises to immerse audiences in a multicultural world rarely available to them through a single cultural event. Local, national and international artists will tell stories of community, diversity, and respect both verbally and physically through hour long dance and drumming performances and through the four free hour long workshops offered during the event. The Omaha Community Playhouse, a DIAMOND sponsor, has agreed to host the event at their venue and assist with marketing and promotion. The Playhouse lobby will be transformed into a composite of West African villages where vendors will sell traditional African arts and crafts as well as authentic African food and drink both before and after the performances and workshops.

A Celebration of Storytelling: Voice of African Instruments requires new instruments, costumes, decorations, and a new backdrop. Woodmen of the World, our first RUBY sponsor, is spearheading donations for these production items through its Red Basket giving program (RedBasket.org). The giving window will be open to all donors until March 23, and your gift of $25 or more will be matched with a $25 donation if you are a member of Woodmen of the World. You can also donate to Red Basket by visiting our website (www.africancultureconnection.org) and clicking on the SUPPORT US tab at the top right of the homepage. This click will lead you to a Red Basket link at the bottom of the page. Unless they choose to remain anonymous, donors will be acknowledged on social media and via a donor’s list available at the venue on the days of the performances. All donations are tax-deductible.

A Celebration of Storytelling: Voice of African Instruments will also feature updated performance content, guest artists, free drumming and dancing workshops for youth and adults, new lighting, the composite village, and a totally unique experience. ACC is inviting multiple levels of sponsorship to help support these critical production costs. Sponsorship levels and the benefits of each are outlined below. We will be contacting potential sponsors in our area in the next month or two, but your organization can elect to

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS

ACC Executive/Artistic Director, Charles Ahovissi, captures the essence of why this event is so important right now. He says, “There is a need for global understanding and appreciation for the richness that diversity brings to all. The more diverse our population becomes, the more we need cultural education in our community.”

Here’s how your sponsorship and donations can make a real difference for the Omaha metropolitan area.

• A DIAMOND sponsor can underwrite the performance fees for all the artists who will drum and dance in this event. • A RUBY sponsor can help us provide lodging and food for the international guest artists who will make Omaha their stage for

two days. • An EMERALD sponsor can help us provide transportation for the international guest artists who will visit our city. • A SAPPHIRE sponsor can help us provide free workshops for 120 people during the event. • A TOPAZ sponsor can help us provide free tickets for up to 50 students or adults over the two-day period. • A donation in any amount will help us pay the production costs that will make this a truly unique, one-of-a-kind event for

Omaha.
