The Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg (Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen
Research Baden-Württemberg, ZSW) was founded by the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg along with various
institutions and companies. Our work focuses on industry-related research and development in the areas of photovoltaics,
renewable fuels such as hydrogen and methane, battery technology and fuel cells, as well as the economic analyses of
energy systems. We assist industry by transforming research results into marketable products, thereby developing

For the Battery Production Research Department (ECP) in Ulm, we are seeking a full-time
Chemical Engineer / Process Engineer
Description / Job Summary: • Evaluate developed lithium-ion cell chemistries and processes; plan and implement robust manufacturing processes for
large-scale production of lithium-ion cells
• Independently acquire and execute new projects; work in close cooperation with international partners from industry,
academia and government
Your profile:
• BS/MS in chemical engineering, materials engineering, or related engineering science
• Knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes of large-format lithium-ion cells from electrode pastes and
coatings to cell assembly and formation
• Experience in working with equipment vendors in regards to equipment operation and optimization
• Good analytical skills in order to evaluate production data and troubleshoot equipment issues
• Ability to work conceptually, e.g. using design of experiments (DOEs) in order to optimize processes
• Basic knowledge of quality assurance concepts for the chemical and process industries
• Keen interest in developing and implementing new technologies for cell production
• Flexible regarding task distribution and responsibilities
