by both those in need and those in the non-profit community. Your generosity will be remembered for many years to come.

Congratulations to you both on receiving this honor! – Maryan Schall

Allan and Susan have offered me kindness and support since I was a young girl.

I look around as an adult and I see them everywhere. It is because they do the same thing all through our community.

They serve on boards and support important organizations like New Beginnings, but they also touch many people informally

and those effects are powerful and widespread: Allan launched a career recently when he agreed to take on a night school law student as a clerk

because the man struck him as bright; Susan did the same when she made important introductions

for a young woman who wants political office, after fully vetting the woman’s views of course.

The room will, I am sure, be full of people with stories of support, many of which are too personal to tell. The point is that Allan and Susan

investigate any person, position, case, or aspiration presented and -- if there is merit -- they throw their weight behind it. Even if it is a long shot.

This takes time and energy, intelligence and grit. It is the model of civic conduct we should all be following.

I feel very fortunate to have them in my life and in our community. Thank you Allan and Susan for your selfless efforts.

– Katy Graham

As relative SB newcomers, thank you for welcoming us so generously and graciously into your community of giving, knowledge, and leadership.
