The Birds Contemporary jazz

Voudou ZazouGypsy jazz

Join leading Australian jazz and swing vocalist James Flynn for an afternoon of suave sounds reminiscent of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Dean Martin. James has played around the world supporting iconic musicians including Ray Charles, James Morrison and Demis Roussos.

Let’s get physical! Local songstress Alix Jordan performs hits from two of her favourite performers, Burt Bacharach and Olivia Newton-John. Get moving with much-loved Bacharach classics such as I Say A Little Prayer, The Look of Love and What The World Needs Now before a fun and ‘physical’ set paying tribute to Australia’s sweetheart, Olivia Newton-John.

All-female jazz quintet The Birds blend several musical styles to deliver a unique jazz sound in an exciting set of original and contemporary jazz arrangements. Formed during their time at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), the girls put their own spin on modern jazz.

Say bonjour to Voudou Zazou and their Gypsy jazz sound, made famous by Django Reinhardt in 1930s Paris. Featuring the delightful vocals of Coo Jarvis and the quintessential French accordion, the swinging sounds and catchy tunes guarantee a toe-tapping good time.
