Presence and Instant Messaging are truly disruptive technologies to the wireless and wired worlds

• Jeff Pulver, Pulver.com By 2004, 60% of all…communication—voice or text—

will be driven through instant messaging technology• Gartner

One of the most powerful and distinguishing features of the IM protocol is ‘presence detection’

• Bill Gates, Testimony to FCC on AOL/Time Warner Merger Online presence awareness is … the most important and

enduring technology of IM• IDC

SIPSIP

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is emerging as the protocol of choice for setting up conferencing, telephony, multimedia and other types of communication sessions on the Internet.

SIP may also be used for new types of communications, such as instant messaging and application level mobility across various networks, including wireless, and across user devices.

Work on SIP is accomplished primarily in the IETF SIP working group, and at SIP bake-offs.

SIP has however manifold interactions with other areas, such as the next generation wireless internetworks, QoS, payments and security

Competition Some competitions with prizes!

Zonemaster -- Case StudyZonemaster -- Case Study

Page 24: Download 3.6MB

• A quest for zones using fierce androids. Zonemaster is a "battle for land" which takes place in the real world, on real maps, utilizing a real physical location.

• The game-play is about conquering zones (like the board-game RISK)

• Attacking strength is the number of zones owned by someone multiplied by the strength of the android summoned with the phone.

• On the website one can see the maps of the cities being played in. These are real world maps. One can also see the Androids and who holds the different zones on the maps AND much, much more...

Two Ways to Play• Orange battle: Defined game areas (ie. Copenhagen).

This can be used for competitions for prizes.• Personal battle: User creates their own battlegrounds

from their physical location

The Game-playThe Game-play

Page 25: Download 3.6MB

STEP 1 – A desire to battle!Select an Orange battle in your area or create your own.

Remember you have to be physically present in the zones you want to attack.

STEP 2 – Attack! When you are physically in a zone you want to conquer, use your mobile to spawn an android and the attack will commence.

Your fighting strength depends on two factors: Your strength and which android you spawn. Androids will only be spawned when you attack.

STEP 3 – Keep conquering!Travel around in the real world (city) to find new zones to conquer. If you meet a defender too strong you can get an ally to help you.

STEP 4 – Winning a battleBattles either end on a predefined date or when a player has gained control of a certain percentage of the battlefield.
