“Embalming and Reconstructive Surgery Tips and Techniques for the Professional Embalmer”

PRESENTER: VERNIE FOUNTAIN Sponsored by: Metro First Call

Part 1 - 2 CEUs Body Prep Part 2 – 2 CEUs Body Prep

In this two-part information packed seminar Fountain will show the participants actual cases and use them to discuss various tips and in-depth techniques to manage various conditions of the case. The goal will be focused on teaching the participants how to perform specialized embalming and restorative techniques. Fountain is a strong advocate of the value to the family and friends of open casket viewing and lengthy visitation periods prior to final disposition of the body. He will identify many techniques will help embalmers accomplish preparation in such a way to allow for open casket viewing for some of the most severe trauma cases. He will discuss a myriad of tips and techniques throughout the entire seminar.Internationally known speaker, Vernie Fountain, CFSP, is a licensed embalmer and began his career in funeral service in 1965. In 1990 he founded Fountain National Academy (FNA) to provide quality, specialized training for licensed embalmers. Fountain’s embalming and reconstructive techniques help embalmers deal with severely traumatized and difficult cases and have proven effective in converting many non-viewable cases to a more acceptable viewable condition. His ability to teach his valuable expertise in seminar settings has made his presentations popular among funeral service professionals around the globe.

For several years Vernie served as Chief Death Investigator and Forensic Autopsy Assistant for the Boone County, Missouri Medical Examiners’ Office, which gave him experience in forensic death investigation. Currently, in addition to operating Fountain National Academy, Vernie is called upon by attorneys to serve as expert witness in embalming-related civil lawsuits. He also works as a licensed private investigator in Missouri. In the spring of 2007 the Missouri Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association presented him with the Robert Knell award. The award is the highest and most esteemed award that can be granted by that association.

Throughout Fountain’s career he has focused on creating better methods to repair trauma. In recent years he teamed up with Dean Jones to create the PMRC “Vernie R. Fountain” Signature series of restorative products. Fountain considers the PMRC products to be “A Better Way”. In 2010 and every other year since Fountain continues to produce and host Fountain National Academy’s biennial “International Embalming & Reconstructive Surgery Conference for Professional Embalmers”. The conference is held in Springfield, Missouri and attracts professional embalmers from across the USA and as well as internationally. In 2010 Fountain also created a Scholarship program for professional embalmers to assist them with furthering their education.

“The Intangible It Factor of Change Management”

PRESENTER: JACK STAHLMANN Sponsored by: Brown-Wilbert

1 CEU General

In Los Angeles, Jack Stahlmann was an actor, producer, director and… of course, a waiter. In this presentation, he will examine how being nimble helped him in Hollywood and how that philosophy can make you a superstar in your field. Jack will analyze the evolution of great actors and make relevant, real-world business analogies that will help advance your career. During the hour, you will:

• Be able to identify where to begin your change journey by embracing the “just one thing” philosophy.

• Develop a mindset to no longer fear change by focusing on the end result first.

• Discover how being nimble can help you channel your inner Clooney by revealing the simple steps of having the “it” factor.

In 2002, Jack launched his own production company which created several films that enjoyed international success. The Fifteen Minute Show, an extremely low-budget feature film that was produced for less than $1,000, was the darling of the 2003 New York International Film and Video Festival. In 2004, he launched his most successful project, The Lift, which was featured in five film festivals worldwide. Freelancing in the directorial ranks, he was instrumental in creating the Margaret Cho stand-up show, Cho Revolution, working as the Second Assistant Director.

As an actor, his shining moment came in a co-star role on the CBS drama Cold Case, where he played a wimpy park ranger. He also appeared on Days of Our Lives and several regional commercials.

Jack is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota.
