The title ‘Q Introduces’ ‘London Grammar’ suggests this is the first place to read about this newly emerging band enticing buyers to read this article. The magazine allocates an entire A4 page for an image of the trio in order for the band to be easily recognized by the reader.

A pull quote can also be identified on this A4 side of the double page spread. This is a usually controversial or intriguing part of the article, usually taken from an interview or ‘Q and A’, which is printed and enlarged somewhere in the article to spark interest.

The image chosen to portray ‘London Grammar is a full shot or long shot showing the majority of the band members bodies and thus including the clothes they are wearing. The photo is also an out of studio shot however the background is unclear.

Q & A The magazine utilises a ‘question and answer’ or ‘Q&A’ this is a common feature of double page spreads, an interview is scribed with specific questions and the bands responses that are thought to be of interest to the readers.

The questions often appear bold and in a different colour whilst the answers are a normal weight and often a bland colour, the photo to the right from ‘Q’ is a prime example of this.

As well as a ‘Q&A’ section the double page spread on ‘London Grammar’ contains text about the band in an interview and descriptive combination. It is common that articles use a combination of both usual article format and a ‘Q&A’ instead of a lengthy dialogue which is not always the best approach when introducing a new band or singer.

A drops cap is also utilised, this is a common feature in double page spreads where the first letter of the article of a paragraph is enlarged in comparison to the rest of the text.

The double page spread maintains the house style generated by ‘Q’, the colour red is used with the typical black font as well as the title logo being clearly incorporated.

The number of columns of text in double page spreads varies in each magazine, here the magazine has opted for two, bringing even more emphasis to the main image.

The page identity in the bottom corner of each page also makes use of the title logo and the magazine website address.
