1 Monday 3 rd June 2013 The IFSC Bouldering World Cup in the Canadian province of Ontario turned out as a real “golden soil” for the Austrian climbing team: With her fifth win in 2013 highflyer Anna Stöhr cinched her overall World Cup victory already two competitions before the end of the season, while Kilian Fischhuber climbed to gold overseas! Canada made it official: Anna Stöhr is the undisputed leader of the 2013 Bouldering season! After four victories at the beginning of the season and place two at her home World Cup in Innsbruck the Austrian athlete climbed to an uncatchable lead in points yesterday evening. And that with her usual aplomb: Four flashes on all four semi-final boulder problems (ex aequo with strong Akiyo Noguchi, Shauna Coxsey and Alex Puccio) laid the foundation of Anna Stöhr’s clean sweep. Being the only female athlete cracking all four boulder problems in the following final round ensured the double world champion her fifth win out of six competitions. In due consideration of dropping one score in a World Cup season with six or more competitions, Stöhr is ensured to win the IFSC Bouldering Overall ranking with 580 points (even for second-place finisher in Canada, Akyio Noguchi). Silver and bronze in Toronto went to Japanese athlete Akyio Noguchi and US climber Alex Puccio. Gold for Kilian Fischhuber In the men’s competition the podium was also dominated by red/white/red: Fivefold Bouldering champion Kilian Fischhuber celebrated his comeback to the top of the podium. With three tops and one bonus in the final round Fischhuber managed to take a leap from place five after the semi-finals to gold in Canada, followed by Netherland’s constantly strong Jorg Verhoeven and Jakob Schubert in second and third place. Ranks three to six went to Rei Sugimoto, Rustam Gelmanov and local hero Sean McColl. DOUBLE-GOLD FOR AUSTRIA AND AN EARLY WORLD CUP OVERALL WIN FOR ANNA STÖHR IN TORONTO
