ESL JOURNAL DOT Holds Learn English Roadshow in Japan The Department of Tourism in Japan, with language schools and universities from the Philippines, held a "Learn English in the Philippines Au- tumn Roadshow" in Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo last November 15 to 22, 2015. The seminars and business sessions gave the agents and other visitors a better appre- ciation of ESL, especially the benefits of studying English in the Philippines. The event was held in the four embarkation points in the country where there are direct flights going to Manila and Cebu. The participating language schools and uni- versities gathered almost 100 inquiries and closed 28 of them. The road show wel- comed almost 170 visitors in four key cities in West Japan. This is the 5th year the De- partment of Tourism held the said event. First Study in the Philippines Exhibit held in Taiwan DOT in partnership with Dewey International Education organ- ized the first Study in the Philippines Exhibition in Taiwan from December 1 1 to 13, 2015. Dewey Interna tional is one of the most active education agencies selling ESL packages in Tai- wan. Dewey International sees the potential of the Philippines as an alternative ESL destination in Asia. Since 2010 they were able to send a total of 6,000 students to the country. They report the following as preferred ESL destinations: Cebu, Baguio, Iloilo, Boracay, Clark, Subic, and Bacolod. The event was held in key cities of T aipei, Taichung a nd Kaohsiung. Some of the represented schools include Paradise English in Boracay, Philin- ter, SMEAG and QQ English in Cebu, La Salle Bacolod and others. Each school had a one-minute presentation of their offerings and raffle games were also held to attract more visi- tors. The participants were not disappointed as they were able to report a total of 500 visitors, 300 inquiries and a total of 30 closed deals. CEB launches Cebu- Taipei Routes Cebu Pacific inaugurates direct flights from Manila to Fukuoka, Japan; from Cebu to Taipei, Taiwan; and, from Davao to Singapore in one day, opening up new markets for tourism and business. CEB unveiled a direct Cebu-Taipei thrice weekly service. This is CEB's 6th international route from Cebu. All new routes will utilize CEB's brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft fleet. CEB's network now spans 63 destinations on 97 routes.
