Private Klippel, now hospitalized in England, went overseas last October. A brother, Edwin, 30, is in service in North Africa. He is recovering at an Army gen- eral hospital, in England. Private Krysinski served as a front-line medic with the same in- fantry division after D-Day plus three. His brother, Edward, is fight- ing on the Continent with a field artillery battalion. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Krysinski Sr., parents of the two soldiers, live at the Roslyil avenue address. New Hyde Park Man Wounded in Belgium Staff Sergeant Earl N. Keith, 33, of 101 Sylvia lane, Lakeville Estates, New Hyde Park, was wounded Dec. 26 in Belgium, his wife, Mrs. Marian Keith, was informed. Sergeant Keith, a former mana- ger for Ray-Bicks food shop in Woodside, entered the service in March, 1944, and went overseas In August. He is in a hospital in Eng- land, recovering from a leg wound. He has a son, Walter Earl, 2. LEATHERNECK IS DECORATED FOR BRAVERY * Jamaica Marine, Awarded Bronze Star, Now Fights on Iwo Lieutenant John J. (Jack) Kearns of Jamaica, who is helping the Ma- rines make history on Iwo Jima, won the Bronze Star Medal during the Marianas campaign last sum- mer, it was announced today. Lieutenant Kearns, 26, son of Mrs. Agnes Kearns of 145-45 South street, was cited by Marine Lieutenant General Holland M. Smith, who commands one of the Marine di- visions battling the Japs on Iwo Jima. Athletic Star . A graduate of Chaminade High School, Mineola, and St. John's Uni- versity, he was widely known as a basketball and baseball player and also was a life guard at Jones Beach. He played on Joe Austin's All Stars and with the St. Monica's Lyceum teams. His sister, Marion, is a telephone operator at the Jamaica Domestic Relations Count. Lieutenant Kearns' Bronze Star citation was for "meritorious achievement in action against the enemy as a platoon leader of a 37-millimeter gun platoon on Sai- pan from June 15 to Aug. 9, 1944." Ignored Own Safety "First Lieutenant Kearns at all times performed with courage, skill and utter disregard of his own per- sonal safety," the citation said. "Under enemy fire on numerous occasions he directed the fire of his platoon, firing anti-tank and direct Oceanside Soldier Shot In Mouth « Private Richard J. Sweeney of Oceanside was shot in the mouth and leg whilt fighting in France Dec. 2. He is in a hospital in England. The 20-year*old infantryman, who entered the Army two years ago, lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Sweeney at 662 Merrick road. John, a brother, is a staff ser- geant with the artillery in Belguim. REUNION "DOWN UNDER" KANSAS CITY, Mo. (UP)—Lieu- tenant Clark McCarthy, late of Kansas City and now of the U. S. Navy, was standing at a street in- tersection in Australia recently when he was startled by the in- sistent honking of an automobile horn. The button-pusher was Ser- geant James Thoop, lifelond friend and erstwhile next door neighbor of McCarthy's. The chance meeting was their first in several years. wipport for infantry units. Eight more Nassau soldiers were wounded in action on the Western Front, the Army reported today.
