DONOR RELATIONS OFFICERS PROFESSIONAL PROFILE Job Profile The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s frontline organisation fighting hunger, is currently seeking Donor Relations Professionals to replenish its pool of qualified candidates. Within delegated authority, the Donor Relations Officer will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus not all inclusive nor are all duties carried out by all Resources Officers.) Mobilise multilateral, direct multilateral and bilateral resources (food and cash); contact donors for funds, ascertain their areas of interest and assist them in planning their donations; Monitor donor policies, trends, preferences and conditions of contributions with respect to reporting/purchasing/deadlines, and other related aspects; Maintain relations with donors and ensure they are informed on important operational issues Actively liaise with all the in-house services concerned, particularly with Finance and Programme divisions to ensure proper contribution management and consistent flow of information to donors; Analyse proposals and finalise negotiations for contributions, including all contractual matters Provide appropriate follow-up on all pending matters related to the implementation of contributions and monitor the fulfilment of all contractual obligations Research, analyse and prepare reports as required on the trend of contributions to WFP Participate in the preparation of project proposals for donors and ensure that they are submitted to the donor for consideration. Serve as Donor Relations focal point for WFP operations or special projects Supervise other Donor Relations staff as required; provide training and technical guidance Perform other related duties as required. Job Profile

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s frontline organisation fighting hunger, is currently seeking Donor Relations Professionals to replenish its pool of qualified candidates.

• Limited knowledge (intermediate level) of English is required under all circumstances

Experience P-2: At least three years of postgraduate progressively responsible

professional experience in international development, donor aid programmes or other related fields P-3: At least 5 years (5-7 national or 5-6 international), post graduate, progressively responsible professional experience in international development, donor aid programmes or other related fields. P-4: At least 7 years (4-5 national and 3-5 international), post graduate, progressively responsible professional experience in international development in a bilateral, multilateral or non-governmental food aid or other international development aid programme. P-5: At least 10 years (5-6 national and 4-5 international), post graduate, progressively responsible experience in research, government or international administration, of which a substantial portion related to international development issues

Specific Requirements

P-3: Timely preparation of sound analytical documents which provide senior staff with well researched and presented positions on WFP and food aid policies and issues. P-4: In depth analysis, articulate, concise, and well reasoned positions on food aid and WFP policies, procedures and issues. P-5: Independent judgement and initiative in analysis of highly complex issues, proposing policy directions for WFP’s relief and development assistance programs.

Education University degree in political science, international development,

development economics or another relevant field. Other Skills Level C in a second official WFP language. Experience in a

developing country, preferably in the area of food aid or development. Willingness to travel for extended periods of time. Working knowledge (level C) of a second official language or of Portuguese; ability and willingness to use micro-computers.
