THE Don Vicente De Ybor Historic Inn
located in Tampa, Fla. has a long rich
heritage dating back to the 1920’s. The
building was once the city’s Planning
and Development office as well as a
health care clinic prior to becoming an inn.
A focal point in each of the rooms throughout the
hotel is the custom built chandeliers. Using a total
of 690 incandescent candelabras, these bulbs
frequently failed, required constant maintenance and
increased room temperatures due to the immense
heat emitted.
Owner Damon Shiver was looking to reduce
operating expenses for the elegant 16 room boutique
hotel, without sacrificing the inn’s historic charm.
Lighting energy costs for the inn had risen to over
$16,000 annually, causing Mr. Shiver to look for
a lighting alternative that would not only lower
energy costs, but also make the inn’s rooms more
comfortable for staff and customers alike.
Damon had heard of the many benefits of LED
lighting and turned to the Experts at LED Source® for
a solution to his growing problem. ▶
