For an update on the progress of the Communion procession arrangements at Caloundra Church please see below In the meantime have you noticed the changed traffic arrangements at Mayes Avenue Caloundra As you turn left into West Terrace from Caloundra Road and then attempt to do a quick right into Mayes Avenue heading towards Vinnies you will have some difficulty as I discovered Theyrsquove changed everything Just before Christmas I tried to do what I have done many times when I was greeted with a loud blast on the horn from the motorist behind me It was then that I noticed despite my panic and confusion the no right turn sign and the newly painted double centre lines on the road Since then Irsquove observed signs that are now placed on Caloundra Road itself before West Tce alerting drivers to the changes ahead More recently I see that a new concrete traffic island has been constructed that should prevent anyone even if they wanted to from turning from West Tce into Mayes Ave When going to Dove Cottage I am amazed to see some motorists are now driving over the concrete traffic island so as to get to Mayes Ave Irsquom very interested to see what the Council will construct next to direct some behavioural change For an update on the progress of the Communion procession arrangements at Caloundra Church please see above
Handing on the sacramental life of the Church is one of the most important challenges that
occur in the life of any Parish The sacraments are the nourishment of our Christian life
and faith and despite ambivalence on the part of many and the awful stories shared at the
Royal Commission parents still seek the sacraments for their children and parishes still
faithfully pass the sacraments on to others Not surprisingly and given the fact the policy
regarding celebrating Sacraments for Children has changed in recent years there is a
constant stream of support offered to parishes through meetings and workshops I can
assure you that these workshops in no way resemble some pharmaceutical company
promotional junket So I was delighted that most of the Parish Team was able to attend a
recent information session in Buderim based on the Sacraments for Children What was
also heartening was that our parish through the welcome Masses for those soon to be
baptised and the preparation of children for Confirmation and first Eucharist is very much
ldquoin syncrdquo with what is considered most effective for assisting parents while being faithful to
what the Sacraments are all about We should all be very grateful to Jeanette Smyth and
the Sacramental Team who are responsible for this very important work in the Parish and
do it with compassion understanding and dedication God bless Fr Kevin
