I am grateful that you are contemplating to undergo a course in the DOEACC Centre, Aizawl.

A few words of explanation regarding the nature of this organization are in order. DOEACC Centre, Aizawl specializes in development of skill in the fields of Information, Electronics and Communication Technology (IECT) through various long term and short term courses. The long term courses namely the Diploma in Computer Science & Engg.(DCSE), Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engg.(DETE), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), and Master in Computer Application (MCA) are recognized professional courses which fall in formal academic sector. Apart from this, the Centre also offers various DOEACC courses such as ‘A’ Level, ‘O’ Level, etc., which are recognized courses of AICTE. Other short term courses are aimed at giving proficiency and the hands-on skill in the key areas of technology. The main emphasis is on updating students with the latest development in their fields of specialization after completion of their formal courses. This requirement is especially relevant in the fields of Electronics and Information Technology, which are rapidly advancing all the time. Due to inherent delays in updating syllabi of courses in formal academic institutions, very often the formal technical courses have outdated syllabi. To remedy the situation, institutions like DOEACC Centre have tailor-made their courses to impart knowledge and working skill on the latest development in the field of Electronics and Information Technology. However, many students in remote areas are not able to join DOEACC courses for one reason or the other. To overcome this problem, State-of-Art Boys & Girls Hostel has been constructed. We have also started conducting skilled training programmes in IT at District Computer Centres located at Champhai, Kolasib, Serchhip, Mamit and Lunglei. Through these programmes, students from rural area will be benefited directly. DOEACC Society, Aizawl Centre is the Regional Centre of Course on Computer Concepts (CCC) for Mizoram and Tripura state. The Institution has recently strengthened the infrastructure by setting up the following laboratories and facilities: Specialized electronic labs such as Electronics & Communication Engg. Lab, Electronics & Electrical workshop, Repair and Maintenance of Consumer Electronics (RMCE) Lab, Hardware & Networking Lab, VLSI & Embedded system lab. These labs have advanced training equipments such as: Fibre Optic Communication trainer, UV Mechanical Splice Installation Kit, Programmable Logic Controller trainer, 8051 Microcontroller Systems trainer, GSM trainer, Digital & Analog Communication trainer, Computer-Aided Circuit Troubleshooting System, Monitor, Keyboard and SMPS trainer, VLSI Design & embedded sytem equipments, Spectrum Analyser, PCB Design Lab, Logic Analyser, etc. Over the years, DOEACC courses have benefited a number of students through the various full-time and part-time courses. The centre has also introduced Master in Computer Applications(MCA) from July 2008 session, for fulfilling the aspirations of the youth of the region to pursue high-end and industry relevant courses near home at affordable costs. Apart from this, Corporate Training Programmes, Consultancy Projects and Sponsored Programmes are being undertaken with various agencies.

1. DOEACC SOCIETY - CORPORATE PROFILE

1.1 THE BACKGROUND

DOEACC Society is an autonomous scientific society of the Department of Information

Technology, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India,

set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities in the area of

Information, Electronics and Communication Technology (IECT). The DOEACC Society is functioning under overall control and guidance of the Governing Council. Hon’ble Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Govt. of India is the Chairman of the Council and members of the Council are from the field of academia, Govt. organizations, industrial sectors and representatives from various professional bodies. The Society has a Management Board headed by Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India. Each centre has an Executive Committee with representatives from respective State Governments and local industries, for effective implementation of the decisions of the Council. It is the only organization which is engaged both in the formal and non-formal education in the area of IECT besides development of industry oriented quality education and training in the state-of-art areas. 1.2 DOEACC Centres in the Country The Society has 12 centres at Aizawl, Aurangabad, Calicut, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur, Imphal, Srinagar/Jammu, Kohima/Chuchuyimlang, Kolkata and Tezpur/Guwahati and three branch offices at Delhi, Lucknow and Shimla with its headquarters at New Delhi. 1. Shillong Thrust area- � Information Technology 1.3 DOEACC Society, Aizawl Centre – In Brief Location- The campus of DOEACC Society, Aizawl centre is located at the Industrial Estate, Zuangtui in the northern direction from the heart of the capital city of Mizoram. The site spreads over an area of more than one(1) acre. Since the Centre is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city , the atmosphere offers a congenial environment for a fruitful academic activity. This further provides an excellent option for the IT students and ITES apprentices with quiet and undisturbed learning environment. Objectives 1. To develop Human Resource in the field of Information, Electronics and

Communication Technology (IECT). 2. To develop entrepreneurs in the field of IECT. 3. To undertake product development and offer consultancy services in the field of IECT

for the socio-economic development of the region. 4. To undertake research and development works in the field of IECT.

2. INFRASTRUCTURE

The building consists of Administrative Wing, Lecture Halls, Faculty Rooms, Computer Laboratories, Electronics Laboratories, Mechanical Workshop, Applied Science Laboratory, Library, Electrical Substation . Students canteen and host of essential facilities spread besides the main building. The construction of a state of art Boys and Girls Hostel for the accommodation of students from various districts is completed. 2.1 Library The Institution Library has a collection of more than 4606 volumes of essential books on electronics and computers, communication in English, etc., for the benefits of both the students and the faculty. Along with this collection, 27 numbers of related journals and magazines are subscribed regularly along with 8 numbers of national and local newspapers. The numbers of the Library collection is likely to increase, depending largely upon requirement and availability. The library is computerized using software developed in-house. * Previous exam questions of ‘O’ and “A’ Level, etc., are available for the students’ benefit. 2.2 Computing Facility The centre has elaborate computing facilities accessible to the students. There is a modern state-of-the art central computer centre for use by the students and scholars in addition to the Departmental computer laboratories. Apart from a large number of PCs, which are all connected to the campus LAN, there are several Intel Xeon based servers. There are also high quality laser printers, network printer, plotters, scanner, multimedia accessories, etc. Various software systems are available that run in environments such as Red Hat LINUX, Windows 2003. The Campus LAN is connected to the Internet through 2 mbps - 8 mbps Broadband Connection. Network is protected using FortiGate 100A and E-Trust security system. 1. Multimedia enabled state of art computer labs. 2. Latest hardware configuration powered by Pentium processors. 3. Authentic and licensed software. 4. Seven computer labs with ergonomic furnishing. 5. More than 100 computers for the laboratory with LAN facility. 6. Internet connectivity for all the labs, 2 mbps - 8 mbps Broadband connection.

2.3 Electronics Labs

There are specialized electronic labs such as Electronics & Communication Engg. Lab, Electronics & Electrical workshop, Repair and Maintenance of Consumer Electronics (RMCE) Lab, Hardware & Networking Lab, VLSI & Embedded system lab. It consists of Patient Simulator, Electrical Safety Analyzer, Pulse Oxymeter, ECG Simulator, ECG Trainer, ENG Trainer, EEG Trainer, Dual Trace Digital CRO, Defibrilator Analyzer, Electro-Surgery Analyzer, Ultrasound Watt Meter, Distortion Meter, X-Ray Radiation Meter, Pulse Rate Measurement Trainer, Galvanic Skin Resistance Module, BP and Pulse Training Module, Temperature Module, PC Interface and Simulation etc. 2.5 Applied Science Lab It separately consist equipments of Applied Physics and Applied Chemistry. The laboratory contains standard laboratory equipments in order to impart practical knowledge of applied sciences to the students. 2.6 Drawing Hall The hall is basically for Diploma courses in Computer Science & Engg.(DCSE) and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (DETE). In this hall, the students are imparted practical technical skill and they acquire knowledge regarding technical graphics and engineering drawing.

2.7 Mechanical Workshop The Mechanical Workshop is well equipped with modern mechanical workshop machineries which serve the purpose not only for the fulfilment of Diploma courses in Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. This workshop consists of modern mechanical workshop machineries like lathe machine, sheet metal cutting machine, body fly press machine, pillar drilling machine, notching machine, grinding machine, metal sheet folding machine, power hacksaw machine and welding equipment of spot, AC/DC arc, gas . All these machines are equipped with standard and high precision measuring tools and implements with accessories and equipment.

2.8 Lecture Halls

1. Spacious and fully furnished class rooms with modern outlook. 2. Single chair and desk for every student. 3. Synthetic boards and up-to-date teaching kits. 4. Overhead projector and multimedia projector to aid both the trainers and faculties.

2.9 Transport The Institution owns two buses and hires additional buses for better conveniences of the staff and students. Buses are on regular services through out the year round. However, the transportation routines are likely to change depending upon academic schedule whenever required. 2.10 Power Supply 1. In-house substation incorporating a 315 KVA Transformer. 2. Back up power includes 63 KVA DG set, 100 KVA DG Set, and separate UPS for all

the floors with back up SMF battery. 3. State of the art electrification work with main panels, sub distribution panels and full

fledge lightning protection and boundary lighting with dedicated earthing for all systems.

4. Lift system for the building 2.11 Staff/Faculty rooms 1. Three faculty rooms intertwined with a separate set of intercom. 2. A private enclosure with wooden partitioning for every teaching faculty and

A. About The Hostel: This Centre has hostel accommodation facility for Boys and Girls separately. The boys hostel having built up area to the tune of 2500 sq. m. and Girls hostel approximately 2000 sq.m. The Boys hostel consists of 41 nos. of rooms in a building comprising stilt floor, ground floor plus five storeyed. All the rooms have double bedded accommodations. The girls hostel consists of total 51 nos. of rooms in a building comprising stilt floor, ground floor plus for storeyed having single bedded accommodation. Both the hostels having facility like kitchen, dining hall, recreation room, computer room, library, store rooms, etc. and 1 no. lift in each building Both the hostel buildings have barrier free access for disabled persons. The hostel is having warden block and electrical sub-station equipped with 250 KV DG Set. Electricity is available in both hostels around the clock (24x7). Every room have been provided bed with matress, study tables and chairs, steel almirah, etc. B. Fee Details for Hostel: a) Caution Money - Rs. 2,000/- (which is against damage caused by the hostellers and which is refundable if any, after the expiry of semester) b) Medical Charge - Rs. 300/- (Not refundable) (Medical check is proposed to have weekly by the empanelled doctors) c) Mess advance - Rs. 2,000/- (Monthly Mess Fee is to be adjusted if not paid by the hosteller) d) Room Rent - Rs. 900/- per semester (not refundable) e) Monthly Mess Fee - Rs. 1,500/- (subject to revision from time to time) Minimum mess per month will be 25 days except leave on medical treatment and in the vent of immediate illness or death of parents/Spouse/Children, etc.) 3. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION

4.1 ENTRANCE TEST Selection of the students for the courses will be based on the performance in the entrance test. The duration of the entrance test will be 2 hours with multiple choice type questions. The Entrance test will be 100 marks consisting of 50 questions. Questions for the test will consist General Mathematics/English, Analytical ability and Reasoning. 4.2 REGISTRATION All students of DoEACC Society, Aizawl Centre have to fill up the registration form for obtaining the students ID card and for undergoing the courses in the centre. The registration fee for all the courses is Rs.224/-. 4.3 IDENTITY CARD The students will be issued Identity Card after their admission. Students are instructed to keep their Identity Card safely and would be required to bring daily at the Institute. Student who have lost their Identity Card can obtain a duplicate Identity Card from the centre by paying Rs. 100/-.

4.4 GRADING SYSTEM

In order to qualify in a promotional examination for each subject in DOEACC Course module (this includes DOEACC ‘O’, ‘A’ level computer/Bioinformatics/Hardware Courses and also ‘CCC’), a candidate must obtain at least 50% marks in theory and practical examinations. For the BCA and MCA Course, the grading pattern will be as per guidelines of Mizoram University and for Diploma Courses (DETE and DCSE), the grading system will be as per the existing structure of the Mizoram State Council for Technical Education (MSCTE). 4.5 STUDENTS PROJECTS For all student projects, students will have to submit the Project Proposal Form which will be scrutinised by the Project Appraisal Team. Students will have to obtain the signature of the Project Guide in the Project Proposal Form. Proper guidelines as per the Course have to be properly followed regarding the eligibility, scope and duration of the project. The project will be evaluated by the Project Evaluation Team on regular basis. 4.6 WORKING HOURS AND HOLIDAYS The Institution follows five working days in a week from Monday to Friday. In addition, it follows a schedule of holiday as per the rules of the Government of India. The classes starts at 9:00 a.m. and completed by 5:00 p.m. 4.7 ATTENDANCE

The students should have minimum 80% attendance in order to be eligible for appearing the final examination and for getting Scholarship facilities. 4.8 LEAVE PROCEDURES

Leave letter should be submitted for each day of leave to the concerned Faculty adressed to concerned co-ordinator/Asst. Co-ordinator. Leave up to 2 consecutive days will be granted by Course Coordinator. For leave of more than 2 consecutive days, prior permission has to be taken in writing or verbal, and leave letter should be submitted on joining with medical certificate or other supporting documents. In case of non-possibility of prior permission, information may be given during the leave but before joining by writing or verbal to concerned authority. Unexplained absence for 5 consecutive days will be treated as discontinued. 4.9 SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME The Society has introduced a Scholarship Scheme for SC/ST/Physically handicapped and Female Students of DOEACC O/A Level Courses. A. Eligibility a. The scheme will be applicable to SC/ST Physically handicapped/Female candidates

who are pursuing O/A level of courses of the DOEACC as full time course through an institute authorized to conduct the DOEACC accredited courses.

b. Candidates shall have to clear all the papers in the first attempt and complete the courses in number of attempts given in the subsequent paragraphs.

c. Income of the parents of the student from all sources shall not be more than Rs. 1 lac p.a.

B. Submission of applications for scholarship A candidate has to apply for the Scholarship along with the following: a. Proof of registration/up gradation. b. Proof of passing the examination of relevant level. c. Proof of pursuing. /A level as full time course. d. Proof of income. C. Amount of Scholarship

The amount of scholarship shall be four times the examination fee paid per module i.e. Rs.500/- as at present or in other words Rs. 2,000/- per module. Course-wise amount of scholarship and the number of installments is as under:-

This Scholarship is awarded under NEC Plan Scheme ‘Financial support to the students of North Eastern Region for Higher professional courses.’ Application in a prescribed form can be had from Mizoram Scholarship Board at the Directorate building of Higher & Technical Education, McDonald Hill, Zarkawt, Aizawl. The amount of Scholarship shall be fixed by Mizoram Scholarship Board. The Scholarship amount will be disbursed once in a year. A stipend for pursuing the same course with the exception of State Merit Scholarship. Applicants who are employed under Central and State Govt., Semi-Govt., Public Sector undertakings will not be eligible for award of Stipend/Book grant Eligibility: a) The Scholarship will be applicable to those students who are pursuing BCA and MCA Course. b) The minimum marks for the grant of stipend shall be 55% for general/OBC/MOBC and 50% for SC/ST candidate in the relevant qualifying examination. 4.11 LIBRARY RULES

i. Students are allowed to borrow books as per availability and regulation. ii. Students can avail Library facility during the working hours only. iii. Reference books are assessable but only inside the Library and cannot be borrowed. iv. Delay on returning/renewing of books will be fined per day as per standing rules of

Library. v. Students shall be responsible for the loss of books, in kind or in cash. In case of book

injured or defaced, the borrower may make good the damage or loss as applicable. vi. Any misbehavious/immoral conduct like tearing of pages of books, magazines and

newspapers marking or writing inside the book will be dealth with strict disciplinary action.

vii. Silence should be maintained inside the Library. viii. Handbag, rucksack, backpack, knapsack, etc., are restricted inside the Library. ix. Mobile Phones, Pagers, MP3 Players, IPods, etc. should be switched offi inside the

Library. x. Students have to pay library security deposit (refundable) 4.12 LABORATORY RULES i. No students are allowed inside the laboratory except during practical period. For extra

practice, students may take permission of their concerned faculty and Lab In-charge should be informed.

ii. All students have to sign in the log book. iii. Students should remove shoes before entering the laboratory. iv. No external storage devices are allowed inside the laboratory and in case the

requirement arises, the permission should be obtained from Lab in-Charge or Concerned Faculty.

v. For any offence committed by the students in the lab, proper disciplinary action will be taken by the institution.

i. Smoking, consumption of intoxicants, etc, is strictly prohibited inside and around the Campus.

ii. Students are expected to dress in proper attire inside the Campus. iii. Students are expected to show respect and decorum & comply with the Faculty, and to

carry on appropriately in the Class. iv. Mobile Phones, Pagers, Mp3 players, iPODs, etc., should be switched off inside the

Class, Laboratory, Library, Workshop etc., and in case of emergency students may be contacted through the landline of the institution. The landline numbers are as below:-

The Lab is intended to use for repair and maintenance of various medical electronics equipments of hospitals in Mizoram,, and the repairing services is going on. Under this project, an MOU is already signed with two hospitals for repair and maintenance, and MOU with other hospitals is under process.

1. DOEACC ‘O’ Level Computer Course ‘O’ level course of DOEACC Scheme is equivalent to a Foundation Level Course in Computer Applications. Students can acquire this qualification by undergoing this course and passing the examination conducted by the DOEACC Society. After completion of ‘O’ Level, students can continue DOEACC ‘A’ level course. The students have to devote half of the total time allotted to each module of the course for the practical session. Practical assignments have been worked out for each theory module. The Practical examination will be based on the syllabi M1-R4, M2-R4, M3-R4 and M4-R4 modules of ‘O’ Level course. PROJECT DOEACC curriculum has a project as an important component of ‘O’ Level course. The Project is carried out by the student under guidance and support of faculty and management of the respective Institute / Organization. It is felt that such a project provides an opportunity to the student to apply his / her knowledge and skills to real life problems (including oral and written communication skills), and as such the project should be given utmost importance and priority both by the students as well as institution faculty / management in respect of its identification, planning and implementation. Objective of the Project The aim of the project is to give the students an additional hand-on experience in solving a real life problem by applying knowledge and skills gained on completion of theory papers in a course at a given Level. It provides an occasion for students to develop written and communication skills, Project also helps the students to realize the importance of resource and time management, ownership of task towards deliverables, innovation and efficiency in task management apart from presentation skills. It also provides a good opportunity for students to build, enhance and sustain high levels of professional conduct and performance and evolves a problem solver frame of mind in the students. It is also felt that taking up the project by a student prepares him for a job in industry and elsewhere. O Level project submission The Project should be original, of real life value and not copies from existing material from any other source and a certificate to this effect duly countersigned by the Supervisor will be submitted to the DOEACC Society. At O Level, no marks are assigned to the Project. However, the candidates are expected to carry out a project successfully and submit certificate in the prescribed format from the head of the institute running the accredited course or the organization of which the candidate is an employee. Validity of Registration Candidates are allowed to appear for a maximum number of ten consecutive examinations, reckoned from the examination which a candidate is eligible to take as indicated in the letter of allotment of registration number to the candidate, for completing successfully the ‘O’ Level examination. Re-registration The validity period of existing registration will be extended for a full term applicable to the respective labels i.e. ten consecutive examinations for O and A level. ‘A’ level course of DOEACC Scheme is equivalent to an Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications. After completion of A level, students can continue ‘B’ level course of DOEACC Scheme whcih has been recognized by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India, as professionally equivalent to MCA Degree course. It consists of ten theory modules (nine compulsory modules and one elective module), two practical subjects and one project. Who could be a Supervisor / Guide A guide for ‘A’ Level should be a person with DOEACC ‘B’ level/MCA/B.Tech/ equivalent/higher qualification and adequate experience (minimum 3 years) in the area in which the student has chosen the Project. In the case of a candidate from an accredited institute, the institute concerned will render all help including the nomination of the Supervisor. Time of Submission of ‘A’ Level Project A Level student can submit the project only after clearing 5 papers of the ‘A’ Level Course. A level: Projects would be approximately 350 man-hours and carries a total of 100 marks (80% for the project evaluation and 20% for the viva-voce). Some important notes while preparing the project proposal The following suggested guidelines may be followed in preparing the Final Project Report: Good quality white executive bond paper A4 size should be used for typing and duplication. Care should be taken to avoid smudging while duplicating the copies. Submission of Project Report to DOEACC The student will submit his/her project report in the prescribed format along with requisite fee. FEES: A Level: A fee of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) should be remitted to DOEACC Society by a demand draft in favor of DOEACC payable at New Delhi. Eligibility

Level ‘O’ /Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after class 10. Followed in each case, by an accredited ‘A’ level course (no concurrency). A Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2 / Graduate and an accredited ‘A’ level course in each case. Validity of submission of ‘A’ Level Project ‘A’ Level student can submit their project only after clearing their five papers and appearing for the remaining papers in the next examination. 4 Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

Duration of the Programme: The Duration of the Programme shall be three years (six semesters) leading to MCA degree. Each semester shall have a minimum of 90 working days or as per University/AICTE norms. The maximum duration shall be five years (ten semesters) for completion of the programme from the date of commencement of the first semester. Eligibility Criteria for Admission: The eligibility criteria for admission into 1st semester of MCA programme shall be as

follows: a) A candidate who has passed 3 years Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BSc/BCom/BCA/BBA

or any other) with 50% marks in aggregate from any recognized University/Institution with Mathematics as one of the subject either at the level of graduation or at 10+2 level.

b) Lateral Entry: A candidate who has passed PG Diploma in Computer Application from recognized University or DOEACC ‘A’ Level course under Govt. of India (with 50% marks and above) of minimum of one (1) year of institutional study after Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects in Graduation or at 10 + 2 level, can be considered for admission into 3rd semester (Third Semester) of MCA programme, subject to the availability of the seats.

Certificate course on Computer Concept (CCC) DOEACC Society, Department of information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Govt. of India has been conducting a Certificate Course on Computer Concept (CCC) since March, 2006. The aim of this course is to benefit the people of India including Govt. employees in a positive manner and encourage them to use IT in the disposal of their routine activities. Examination will be conducted by the Society on online web-based mode. Any person can appear this exam irrespective of educational qualifications through a DOEACCC recognized institution. The Students can opt a day of a month (i.e 1st or 3rd Saturday) to appear for CCC examination online with effect from 3rd Saturday of July 2010 after completing 80 hrs course through any DOEACC recognized institution. The CCC has been recognized by many State Govt, like Gujarat, Maharastra and Govt. of India as a basic qualification for fresh recruitment and / or promotion purposes. Existing centres conducting DOEACC CCC Course in the state are: Sainik Welfare Khatla, DCC Mamit , DCC Kolasib, DCC Champhai, DCC Serchhip, DCC Lunglei.

The course materials in major Indian languages including Mizo in e-learning mode will be available in the DOEACC Centre, Aizawl website (http://www.doeaccaizawl.org.in).

Eligibility : The candidates can appear in the DOEACC CCC Examination through following three modes and the eligibility criteria for each mode are indicated against each:

• Candidates sponsored by DOEACC approved Institutes permitted to conduct CCC

Course – irrespective of any educational qualifications;

• Candidates sponsored by Government recognized Schools/Colleges having obtained an

Unique Identity number from DOEACC for conducting CCC - irrespective of any

educational qualifications; and

• Direct Applicants (without essentially undergoing the Accredited Course or without

being sponsored by a Govt. recognised School/College) - A minimum educational

qualification of passing Matric/High School/SSLC or equivalent

Duration : The total duration of the course is 80 hours, consisting of:

Who can conduct the course:

Institutes conducting any of the O/A/B/C Level accredited courses may conduct the Course on Computer Concepts. No separate accreditation is required for such institutes. Besides, this, Government recognized Schools/Colleges are also eligible to field candidates to DOEACC's CCC Examinations. However, Institutions falling under the above categories are required to inform DOEACC Society in writing and obtain permission before the commencement of the course. . Fee Plan: -

1. The Examination form costs Rs.20/-. The Examination Fee is Rs.340/-. 2. Provision of Late Fee:-

Examination forms can be submitted with late fee @ Rs. 50/- per Examination Application Form. The last date of receipt of such forms is 10 days after the normal cut off date for receipt of Examination Forms.
