University Support Staff ‐‐ Transition to Add Increase on Longevity to Base Salary

When University Support Staff converted from classified/civil service effective July 1, 2014, PSU agreed
to include the amount of the longevity payment for eligible employees in the base salary when
calculating a percentage increase.
USS received percentage increases in FY 2015 and FY 2016. While we are still using the legacy system
(IBM/Secure Shell/Admin system), we had to use a spreadsheet to calculate the percentage increase on
the longevity payment and then add that amount to the longevity payment when it was made.
When we go live with GUS HR, we will be able to adjust the employee’s base rate, if needed, when the
longevity payment is made. USS employees who received a longevity bonus in FY 2015 and/or FY 2016
may see a small increase in the hourly salary when we start using GUS HR. Note that the increase will be
small (from 1 – 3 cents per hour additional).
