What is knowledge?
Knowledge is the full utilization of informationand data, coupled with the potential of people'sskills, competencies, ideas, intuitions, commitments and motivations.
In today's economy, knowledge is people, money, leverage, learning, flexibility, power, and competitive advantage. Knowledge is morerelevant to sustained business than capital,
labor or land. Nevertheless, it remains the mostneglected asset. It is more than justified truebelief and is essential for action, performanceand adaptation. Knowledge provides the abilityto respond to novel situations.
A holistic view considers knowledge to bepresent in ideas, judgments, talents, root
causes, relationships, perspectives andconcepts. Knowledge is stored in the individualbrain or encoded in organizational processes, documents, products, services, facilities andsystems.
Knowledge is the basis for, and the driver of,
our post-industrial economy. Knowledge is theresult of learning which provides the onlysustainable competitive advantage. Knowledgeis the next paradigm shift in computingfollowing data processing 1945-1965 andinformation management 1966-1995.

Knowledge is action, focused innovation, pooled expertise, special relationships andalliances. Knowledge is value-added behavior
and activities. For knowledge to be of value itmust be focused, current, tested and shared.
What is Knowledge Management?
Knowledge management is an audit of"intellectual assets" that highlights uniquesources, critical functions and potential
bottlenecks which hinder knowledge flows tothe point of use. It protects intellectual assetsfrom decay, seeks opportunities to enhancedecisions, services and products throughadding intelligence, increasing value andproviding flexibility.
Knowledge management complements and
enhances other organizational initiatives suchas total quality management (TQM), businessprocess re-engineering (BPR) andorganizational learning, providing a new andurgent focus to sustain competitive position.
Why should you apply KnowledgeManagement?
To serve customers well and remain in businesscompanies must: reduce their cycle times, operate with minimum fixed assets andoverhead (people, inventory and facilities),

shorten product development time, improvecustomer service, empower employees, innovate and deliver high quality products,
enhance flexibility and adaptation, captureinformation, create knowledge, share andlearn.
OBJECTIVE
This project is aimed at developing amanagement system that is of importance
to either an organization or college. The system (KMS) is standalone/Distributed
application that can be accessed throughout the organization or specifiedgroup/dept.
This system can be used as aknowledge/information mgmt system for
the college. Students/Staff logging should be able to
upload any kind of technical information.
Students/staffs logging in may alsoaccess/search any information put up byothers.
KMS should facilitate knowledge sharingfrom the grass root level like project teamsto the entire college.

Feasibility Report
Recognition of Need
Some major problems were found in theexisting system, which included maintenanceof huge amount of data and its retrieval in aspecified time interval. Maintaining dataconsistency and removing redundancy was amajor difficult task for Users.
Feasibility Study:
A feasibility study is a high-level capsuleversion of the entire System analysis andDesign Process. The study begins by classifying
the problem definition. Feasibility is todetermine if its worth doing. Once anacceptance problem definition has beengenerated, the analyst develops a logicalmodel of the system. A search for alternatives

is analyzed carefully. There are 3 parts infeasibility study.
Operational Feasibility:
Question that going to be asked are Will the system be used if it developed andimplemented. If there was sufficient support for the projectfrom the management and from the users. Have the users been involved in planning anddevelopment of the Project.
Will the system produce poorer result in anyrespect or area? This system can be implemented in theorganization because there is adequate supportfrom management and users. Being developedin Java so that the necessary operations arecarried out automatically.
Technical Feasibility :
Does the necessary technology exist to dowhat is been suggested

Does the proposed equipment have thetechnical capacity for using the new system? Are there technical guarantees of accuracy,
reliability and data security? The project is developed on Pentium IV with256 MB RAM. The environment required in thedevelopment of system is any windowsplatform The observer pattern along with factorypattern will update the results eventually The language used in the development isJAVA 1.5 & Windows Environment
Financial and EconomicalFeasibility:
The system developed and installed will begood benefit to the organization. The systemwill be developed and operated in the existinghardware and software infrastructure. So thereis no need of additional hardware and softwarefor the system.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS
System analysis is a detailed study of thevarious operations performed by a system andtheir relationship within and outside of thesystem. During analysis, data are collected onthe available files, decision points andtransaction handled by the present system.
EXISTING SYSTEM
There is no such kind of system prevailed. Thisis first type of system of its kind. Recently, allthe management work is done on the separatesystem, i.e. There is separate software forattendance, result, library, etc. Due to whichthe management faces lots of problems.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
This system will be the first type of its kind inthe college. It did not provide the full featured

support but try to solve lots of problems facedby the management. This system solves themanagement problems such as attendance,
results etc. It also provides a common platformto students, faculties and administration tocommunicate and share knowledge and askqueries. Faculty members can upload thelecture notes of their respective subjects whichwill be downloaded by the students. With thehelp of the system students can query thecollege administration as well as admin on thevarious issues.

Purpose:-
This table is design for holding the login datai.e Login_id password, role.
Login_id is assign to each user that will identify the
user in system. Login_id should be uniquely assign toeach user.
Password is used for the security purpose that anyunauthorized user cannot login to the system.
Role is defined and assign to user that will define theaccess right and work limitations of user on database.
Validation:In this table Login_id is primary key because thesame user id cannot be assign to more then user. Datatype is varchar2.

DDate.
Here, DTopic_id id used to identify the lists of topics
uniquely, it helps us to search a particular topic fast
without ambiguity
VALIDATION:
In this table, DTopic_id is primary key, everytopic will have its own unique ID which helpshim to recognize the Particular topic. Thedatatype will be the varchar2.

This table is used to keep the informationabout the password details. The name of thistable is Forgot_password and it contains thefields such as Question_id, Question_name,Answer .Here, Question_id is used to identify
the particular questions assigned to theparticular user.
VALIDATION:
In this table Question_Id is a primary keyand its datatype is Varchar2. Here, every
question will assign a unique Id to identify theparticular question. Other fields in this table areQuestion_name which should be NOT NULL andhaving a datatype varchar2. Answer field isalso kept NOT NULL and having a datatypeVarchar2.
