Team Jeopardy

High School

Purpose: This is a Team activity that will encourage mentors/ mentees to work together with Jeopardy as the basis.

Activity Duration: 45-60 minutes

Materials:

• Print off Jeopardy questions. Print “On Both Sides” and color if available.

• Tape

• Paper/pencil to keep score

Preparation:

• Hang Jeopardy categories on a wall with small pieces of tape. Under each category will be the five questions for that category, also

taped to the wall. This can take up to 5 full minutes (it’s 30+ sheets of paper)

• Split session into two or three teams.

Activity:

• Announce that the team that selects the question gets the first chance to answer the question. Stress that no one shouts the answers.

• Select a Mentor to give the teams’ “Final Answer” after they’ve consulted with everyone on the team.

• If a team is incorrect, the next team can try to answer.

• Allow a student to select the category and question, remove from the wall and read the question to that team.

Tips:

• Ask a mentor to keep score. Do not deduct points for a wrong answer.

• Stress this isn’t about winning or losing but working well with your team.

• Rotate which student gets to select the category and dollar amount.

• Require students select question from their seats. If they come to the wall to choose, they take a long time.

• Hang the activity prior to the session or recruit a mentor to help you at the beginning of the session.

• The questions and categories print in order. Simply print the file (on both sides) as the file appears.
