With high hopes to RISE above the Challenges amidst pandemic, PICPA

Pampanga Chapter continues to behold a momentous 55th Induction and

Turn-over Ceremonies, 1st General Membership Meeting and Leadership

Training on August 1, 2020 at Benigno Hall, Capitol Compound, Sto. Niño, City

of San Fernando, Pampanga.

A special permit to gather following health and safety protocols was requested

from the Incident Commander of IATF-EID of the City. With a tropical-industrial

theme, this event was a great success! The City Mayor of San Fernando Edwin

Santiago officially opened the ceremony by bidding everyone a warm welcome.

He was followed by the keynote speaker Hon. Noel F. Manakil, the President of

Clark Development Corporation who talked about recent developments in

Clark and the role of accountants in these trying times. A leadership training

entitled “Building Strong Organizational Leaders in the Time of Pandemic” was

facilitated by Mr. Daryl Malonzo, RPsy, RPm.

The induction ceremony continued. Ms. Riza Añasco, on her imminent stepping

down as Chapter President, delivered her Valedictory Address. She recognized

his co-officers, directors, advisers, chairs and co-chairs, and members who

extended unwavering services to her administration by giving Plaques of

Appreciation. The induction ceremony itself formally came on. PICPA Central

Luzon Senior Regional Director, Ms. Anna Lissa C. Chua-Dycaico, led the

oathtaking before Mr. Roloyd Gozun and 15 other new officers and directors.

Añasco then handed over the Gavel & Mallet, Flag, and the Leadership Symbol

of the chapter to Roloyd Gozun. Council of Advisers and Committees were also

inducted by PICPA CLR Junior Regional Director Belen C. Esteban. Newly

installed President Roloyd Gozun delivered his Inaugural Address and message

afterwards as the leader of the RISING TEAM. The event was concluded by a

closing remarks of EVP Marwin Manaloto.

In an unprecedented situation during this pandemic, PICPA is more hopeful with a success mindset in

achieving its goals and objectives. The stamina to do so has been reflected in the current year’s theme and

logo.

The world, in general, and the Philippines, in particular, are literally at a standstill because of this COVID-19

virus and people are actually in the midst of a battle between public health and commerce. Despite this

challenging time, PICPA braced itself to stand in solidarity to make the profession relevant to the country.

RISING, the 6-point agenda for FY 2020-2021, where R represents Recovery Programs; I represents In-

house Programs and Innovations; S represents Social Responsibility Programs; I represents International

Linkages; N represents New Programs; and G represents on-Going Programs and Governance, best

describes the optimism of PICPA as it overcomes the fears of uncertainties in the middle of trying times.

PICPA rises in solidarity as it helps the profession, which plays an important role in restoring the economic

downfall by working together with resilience and compassion.

The logo having six people in different colors holding together represents unity and mutual support

among CPAs in attaining the common goal, which is the RISING agenda. The solid yellow color and check

symbol reflects the high optimism of PICPA to rise up and face the challenges resiliently during these

trying times.

COUNTINUED FROM PAGE 3 ...ANNUALPLANNING CONFERENCEDuring this uncertain time, PICPA anchored its plans and actions for 2020-

2021 on the theme “Filipino CPAs RISING in Solidarity Amidst Challenging

Times” that best describes the resilient mindset of PICPA leaders in bracing

and embracing themselves to the “new normal”. PICPA’s 6-point agenda

pertains to Recovery Programs encompassing livelihood bridge and

webinars on skills training; In-house Programs covering the timely releases

of publication materials and full implementation of events bank with virtual

meeting platform; Social Responsibility Programs by collaborating with the

government and private group for financial accounting and tax advisory

(FATA) program, etc.; International Programs such as promoting

international certifications and assisting memorandum of agreements

(MOA) with NCPACA in US, Canada, and Middle East and assisting MICPA in

learning English in applying the profession and maintaining

chairmanship/membership in International Federation of Accountants

(IFAC); New programs such as ISO certification, active campaigns and past

president’s tribute and on-Going programs such as online voting, annual

national convention (ANC), cooperative summit, various conferences,

women summit, and NGO summit.

The last is definitely not the least! On the last day of the event, more fun and

sharing continued. The zoom virtual room got jam-packed with various

learning sessions with Atty. Arnold A. Apdua (Data Privacy Officer of PICPA)

as he shared insights about the data privacy act and Dr. Cesar C. Mansibang

(Former VP for Operations of PICPA) as he talked about the important

values of leaders to be different from the rest. The current year awards

criteria of PICPA was presented by GARCA Chair, Mr. Ray Talimio. Then, an

in-depth panel discussion about leadership motivated the crowd even more

with speakers and moderators from different chapters, regions and sectors.

The fun and enjoyment continued in the evening with games, raffles and

classic dance beats from Askendo band.

The RISING Team, as the 2020-2021 leaders call themselves, is set to embark

on a journey of uncertainties and limitations amidst the trying times.

However, there is no stopping or slowing down of leaders’ momentum as

long as there are concrete plans and programs ready for execution and

implementation.

Despite the continuous implementation of community quarantine nationwide due to the

pandemic, PICPA Cabanatuan City Chapter is unstoppable in offering services to the

accounting community especially to the aspiring colleagues in the profession – the

Accountancy students. The Chapter launched its first ever virtual tutorials last July 12, 2020,

open to all students who have accounting subjects. The sessions were participated by students

from different colleges and universities inside and outside the province of Nueva Ecija like Holy

Angel University in Pampanga, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila in Manila, Polytechnic

University of the Philippines in Manila, University of San Carlos in Cebu, etc. Quizzes were also

administered wherein the winners received a scholarship grant from Premiere Professional

Development Center.

ICPA and JPIA had its successful launching of the Accountancy Week through its opening

program last July 12, 2020 via Zoom hosted by Ms. Grace Salvador and PICPA former President

Jeserio Lonon, Jr., graced by fellow PICPAns, JPIAns, incumbent chapter officers, other former

presidents of the local chapter, as well as distinguished guests. President-elect Raymond

Vasquez formally declared the opening of the Accountancy Week and Chapter President

Evangeline Capundag delivered her welcome remarks to start the ball rolling for the week-long

activity. Likewise, PICPA National President Jun Bato gave his warm message to everybody. After

which, the attendees grooved to the virtual zumba led by Ms. Christy Ann Lastimosa.

Likewise, exciting teasers of various entries from different contests coming from both student

and professional categories were shown. Some of these include the TikTok Challenge, Spoken

Word Poetry, and Short Video Competition. Throwback videos of AWC activities were shown to

hype up the celebration this year, even in the new normal.

he PICPA CAMSUR Chapter started the celebration on July 12,

2020 with a holy mass held at the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of

Saint Jude Thaddeus.

A free webinar on “Studying in the New Normal: The Accountancy Way”

was also held during the week-long celebration with Dr. Nora Elizabeth

F. Maniquiz as resource speaker. Her talk was truly attuned to the new

normal. The faculty members and accountancy students in Camarines

Sur were invited to attend.
