ABSTRACTDisadvantage( adults, like all adults, are concerned
with their homes, their children, their finances, with themselves andwith real life problems. This pamphlet, the first in a series onlibrary services for disadvantaged adults, presents guidelines forlibrarians on the selection of materials for this group, materialswhich deal with practical, everyday concerns and which are innon-print or easily-read formats. Acquisition is discussed in termsof sources, costs, and processing of materials. The Appalachian AdultEducation Center's Life Coping Skills Materials List (categories ofinterest to disadvantaged adults) is taken as a guide for building awell-rounded collection. The list itself is presented, with sampletitles for each malor category. A list of professional readings andaddresses of libraries to visit provide further help for libraries.(SL)
