CHAPTER 1 Introduction

This guide provides user information regarding the various components in the MobileView Docking Station Storage and Data Management solution.

The actual software interface and its applications may vary. There may be differences between your MobileView Docking Station and the pictures shown in this manual. Use this guide as a reference.

SafetyThis guide includes warnings and important information to allow for safe operation.

PrecautionsThe following safety precautions increase the life of the MobileView Docking Station unit and prevent damage. Follow all precautions and instructions.

Do not use damaged power cords, accessories, or other peripherals. Do not use any strong solvents such as thinners, benzene, or other flammables or chemicals on or near the MobileView Docking Station.

IMPORTANT: Disconnect the AC power before performing any major service to the MobileView Docking Station.

IMPORTANT: Monitor Cleaning: Power Off your MobileView Docking Station before cleaning. Wipe touchscreen monitor using a microfiber cloth dampened with a solution of nonabrasive detergent and a few drops of warm water. Remove any extra moisture with dry microfiber cloth.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT place on uneven or unstable floor surfaces

IMPORTANT: DO NOT shove any foreign objects into MobileView Docking Station

IMPORTANT: DO NOT expose to or use near liquids, rain, or moisture.

CHAPTER 2 Docking Station Features

OverviewThe MobileView Body Worn Camera Docking Station is an all in one solution automatically charging and simultaneously downloading and managing video evidence from up to 20 body worn cameras. The docking station has a large LCD touchscreen for easy navigation of the integrated evidence management software. The system provides a central secure location for evidence storage and allows for creation of permission based profiles to maintain the custody chain. The software allows authorized users to manage and configure body cameras, manage all evidence, create cases, customize reports, and view audit trails. Use the solution locally on site and also in a fully network capable environment to support storage deployments of all sizes.

The Dock, Walk, Charge, Manage feature allows users to simply dock Body Worn Cameras at the docking station and walk away without any further interaction from the Officer. Further data review, analysis, and case assignments, as well as detailed data description may be performed at individual work stations. Docking Station's intuitive software manages data automatically within specified parameters from the System Admin while charging connected body cameras. System Admin may design various customizable retention time frames for several Data types. Locally or remotely, authorized personnel has full control of features and data stored on docking station or assigned storage.

Docking Station Front

Inserting Body CameraInsert the Body Camera down facing forward until a lock click is heard. The Docking Station initiates powering up the camera and automatically starts uploading data from camera.

1 Touchscreen monitor display All full size docking stations are equipped with a touchscreen monitor for fast and quick performance. This also reduces need for additional equipment.

2 Camera recharge drawers Automatically recharges and uploads data from the Body Cameras. Insert a camera facing forward into Camera Dock inside the drawer and the Docking Station manages the rest. A lock in click sounds locking the camera in place.

Once the data is completely downloaded from the camera, the Docking Station automatically formats its internal storage and prepares the camera for next use.

Docking Station Back and Side

1 Power Button Emergency system power down button.

2 Fan Cooling system for the Docking Station.

3 Back Panel Door The back panel door covers the Docking Station internal hardware and hard drives. Use the designated key to open. Follow Safety Precautions when accessing the back panel.

4 Power Connector Plug the power cord into this connector.

5 Power Switch Turn the Power switch to the on position to power up Docking Station. Turn the Power switch to off position to power off the Docking Station.

6 USB Port Plug USB (Universal Serial Bus) devices, such as External Hard Drive, USB DVD Burner, etc) into this port from a local router or modem to connect the Docking station to the network.

7 Ethernet (Network) Port Connect an Ethernet cable.

8 Speakers Full size Docking Station comes equipped with speakers for immediate playback of audio and video files.

9 Handles When moving the Docking Station, use the handles located at each side of the unit to easily roll it to a desired location. Do not lift the unit.

CHAPTER 3 Using the Docking Station

Power OnAlways use the suggested power input for the Docking Station to prevent damage to the cameras or Docking Station.

1. Plug the power cord into Power Connector on the back of Docking Station.2. Turn Power Switch to the ON position. The switch lights up.3. Once Docking Station is powered up, loading screens are displayed. Wait until the screens have

completed loading before using the Docking Station.Docking Station Software display screen loads automatically upon startup. Your Docking Station is now ready to use. The startup screen is similar to the following:

Body Worn Camera1. Place the Body Worn Camera in any unused charging slot within one of the drawers of the

docking station. 2. If loaded properly, a window similar to the following is displayed.

3. Once camera files have uploaded to the Docking Station, a window similar to the following is displayed with all cameras currently connected to the Docking Station.

CHAPTER 4 Docking Station Software

OverviewDocking Station Interface is a comprehensive solution that provides users powerful tools for their data storage and management. Advanced user tools allow authorized personnel to manage sensitive data and maintains audit trail of user behavior on the Docking Station and Remote access by keeping track of click by click actions performed by the users.

The software is available on the touchscreen on the Docking Station. The same features and functions can also be accessed using a remote login and using an Internet browser. Functionality depends on the user logged in. For more information, refer to Chapter 5: Remote Login

Main InterfaceOnce logged in, the main Docking Station interface is displayed. This will be similar whether you have logged in directly on the Docking Station or remotely logged in using web interface.

Camera QuadrantThe Camera Quadrant displays Camera's information such as Device ID, Officer ID, Assigned Officer Name, Data Upload Status (%) from Body Worn Camera to Docking Station, Number of Files stored and pending upload from Body Worn Camera, File size, and Estimated Download Time.

2 Digital Evidence Management

Access the Docking Station Management Software for advanced functions and settings. This function prompts for user name and password.

3 Local Media Files

Provides access to playback for all downloaded data on Docking Station.

If Upload Password is enabled then users are required to input their ID and Key to access playback of their own uploaded data.

4 Docking Station Options

Manage MobileView Docking Station's local settings such as password, IP address of

Remote Storage Server, etc.

5 Exit Provides an option to close the MobileView Docking Station Interface window and access desktop, restart the Docking Station Interface, and shut down the system. The system prompts for Administrative password key to confirm exit from the software interface.

Local Media FilesLocal media files are available on the Docking Station once data upload from Body Camera is complete. Users are assigned User ID and Password by Admin to access their own data for review.

1. Click the Local Media Files icon to access uploaded data. The Officer ID and Password is provided by the System Admin.

2. The Docking Station Software requires credentials to access uploaded data. Enter the proper Officer ID and password.

The file management window is displayed.

Large Icons Display ModeThumbnails of uploaded data from a Body Worn Camera is displayed. The last uploaded data displays first.

Item Name Description

1 All Devices Downloaded files of the selected device. If Own Data View Only is enabled by the System Admin, user can only view their own uploaded data. If Own Data View Only is unchecked by the System Admin, the software lists all uploaded data.

Burning Data onto a CD or DVDUsers can burn selected data onto an external CD/DVD Burner attached to the Docking Station. The system automatically detects attached an external CD/DVD-ROM.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended to use CD/DVD +R, -R, +RW, and -RW formats to burn data.

The following options are on the Burn Media File window:

• Close: Close the currently open burn DVD window.• Add All: Add all listed data files to the burn queue list.• Remove All: Remove all listed data files from the burn queue list.• Add Single: Add the single selected data file to burn queue list.• Remove Single: Remove the single selected data file from the burn queue list.• Eject DVD: Eject the current DVD.• Start Burn: Start burning the data files listed in the burn queue.

Detailed Data ViewAccess basic details of uploaded data files on Docking Station. Quickly find uploaded data by entering the Date and Time range or by Data Type.

The following options are available on the Details tab of the Large Icons Display Mode window:

2 Today Thumbnails of data uploaded on this day. Last uploaded file list first.

3 By Week Thumbnails of data uploaded this week.

4 By Month Thumbnails of data uploaded this month.

5 Back Go back to previous data thumbnail list page.

6 Next Go forward to next data thumbnail list page.

7 Select All Select all shown data thumbnails.

8 Page Current display page with data thumbnails.

9 Burn Disc If an external DVD-Burner is connected to the Docking Station, user may burn selected Data onto a DVD.

10 Download (Optional) Download selected Data onto an external storage device.

11 Lock Lock selected files to prevent manual or automatic deletion. This function also prevents other unauthorized users from accessing select data files.

12 Unlock Unlock releases locked files.

13 Close Close currently open window.

• Search: Search for files using search parameters such as Device ID, officer ID, Officer name, File Description, File Type, etc. Use one or more fields to refine searches.

• Detail: View detailed information of selected file. This opens a new data window containing data display. Users may enter selected file details such as Case ID, Description, Retention schedule, etc using this function.

• Play: Perform a Quick Playback of selected image or video file in its original resolution size. • Download: Perform a Quick Playback of selected image or video file in its original resolution

size.

Digital Evidence Management SystemAccess details and additional settings of uploaded data by logging into the Docking Station Digital Evidence Management System software. Although many features are available in this software, only Review Files is available for the user unless enabled by the System Admin. A System Admin can enable and disable these features from the Security menu option. Refer to the Docking Station System Administration Guide for more information.

1. Click the System Login icon to access advanced settings and configurations.

2. The login window prompts for user name and password. Enter User name and Password that were assigned by the System Admin to access advanced data details.

After login, the Digital Evidence Management System interface opens. This section explains Digital Evidence Management System advanced settings and configurations of the Docking Station software and behavior.

4. Choose features from the following menu.

5. Press the menu icon (=) to open and close the menu to use Navigator.6. Click Review Files.

Note: For information on how to use the additional features in this menu and other items in the Digital Evidence Management System, refer to the Docking Station System Administration Guide. The Division, Personnel, and Docking Station and other options are advanced features for use by the System Admin.

Review FilesSelecting Review Files opens the following window:

Use the Review Files option to open the advanced window containing uploaded file details. This menu provides authorized users with detailed review of uploaded data on Docking Station. The functions include search, detailed file information, download, export, etc. Advanced user tools provide Authorized Personnel additional options such as Data Lock uploaded data to prevent unauthorized personnel from viewing it. Data lock also prevents manual or automatic data deletion unless unlocked.

Play Video Files1. In the Play List, select the check box for the file to review. 2. Click Play.

4 Download Manually download selected file to local storage location locally or remotely.

5 Export Export complete data information into excel or other data format. Choose custom data parameters for export.

6 Delete Delete selected files manually unless file is Locked or Protected by the Authorized user.

7 Lock Lock selected files to prevent manual or automatic deletion. This function prevents anyone except authorized personnel from viewing selected file.

8 Unlock This releases locked files and allows file to be deleted manually or automatically at the end of set retention period.

9 Close Closes open Data Management window.

10 Protect (WebUI only) Protect selected files to prevent manual or automatic deletion. Owner of the file (user who uploaded it) may view the file, but cannot delete it.

11 Unprotect (WebUI only) Releases protected files and allows manual or automatic deletion.

Search Video FilesSearch for all uploaded data or data defined within selected search parameters. Enter one or more search parameter options to filter data to specific results. The following table describes different ways to search.

Review Video FileAuthorized users with permission can search and playback video. They may input recorded data details such as Case ID, detailed description and the type of event.

Description Refine search to specific keywords for data entered in the Note in the File Details.

Query only locked Refine search to only find files that have been locked.

Field Name Description

Officer ID Officer ID and Name. The information is assigned by the System Admin settings menu. This data cannot be altered or deleted by user.

Device ID Body Worn Camera ID. This data cannot be altered or deleted by user.

File Type Type of Data file. Valid data files are Audio, Video, Document, etc. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Date Uploaded Date and time when the file has been uploaded on MobileView Docking Station. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Length Duration of recorded segment in minutes. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Size File size of recorded segment. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Docking Station IP address of MobileView Docking Station the file has been uploaded to. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Case ID Users may enter specific Case ID to recorded segment.

Importance Level How long a particular Data segment is retained within the system. Users may choose how long selected data segment stored in the MV docking station before it's automatically deleted.

Unless the file has been locked or protected by the user. Then the file will be retained until user manually removes the restriction.

Main Task Users may select primary Category for selected data file.

Subtask Users may select secondary category for selected data file.

Lock Locks selected file and prevents access to all except for authorized personnel.

Protect Protects selected file from being automatically or manually deleted until it's Unprotected by authorized personnel.

Export Template Add, Save, and Delete export selections to Excel or equivalent application.

1. Click New Set. 2. Enter the new set name for the template.3. Click OK.4. Click the export selections to be assigned to this selection template.5. Click the disk icon to save this template or click the red X to delete the template.

Export Play ListChoose which files to export to the Excel application.

1. Click the check box for the file or files to export.2. Click Export to Export selection to an Excel file.

Delete Video File1. Click the check box for the desired video file.2. Click Remove.

3. Conform the delete, click OK.

Download Audio File1. Click the check box for the desired audio of a file. Ensure that Audio is listed as File Type.2. Click Download.

CHAPTER 5 Remote Login

Docking Station Web InterfaceMobileView Docking Station Web Interface contains the same parameters, functions, and data output as the Docking Station unit. Full Docking Station operation may be performed from computer on the local network.. Access the MobileView Docking Station from a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Firefox from a local network computer. Use the following information to access the MobileView Docking station locally.

The Docking Station IP Address is displayed on the MobileView Docking Station Interface, See IP Address and Network Status on page 18.

Using an Internet BrowserFollow steps below to access MobileView Docking Station from any local computer that is configured within the same Local Network as the MobileView Docking Station.

1. Launch a web browser and click in the address bar at the top of the window. Ensure that previously existing text in the address bar is deleted.

2. Type the IP address of MobileView Docking Station in the address bar. (For example: http://192.168.1.10/)

3. Press Enter key to load the MobileView Docking Station page. The Docking Station Management page is displayed.

4. Enter the user name and password assigned by System Admin.

Docking Station MenuUpon a successful login, users have access to their own uploaded data and menu options assigned by the System Admin. Home page lists quick thumbnails of uploaded data by the user. Users may view all uploaded thumbnails or click to view thumbnails by specific data type such as Video, Audio, or Photo. Detailed feature information is defined in the previous chapter.

Review FilesAccess details of uploaded data on MobileView Docking Station from web interface. In this menu, users have access to advanced search options and file details.

Advanced SearchAdvanced Search provides users with a wide range of search options from searching by a specific data category to searching by keyword.

Advanced search options become available when the Advanced search button is selected.

File DetailsAccess File Details on web interface by clicking on Detail link. This opens a new window containing playback and additional file details. Within Details window, enter data categories, case ID, and detailed description or keywords to the selected file.

Depending on the screen resolution of the computer find the file Detail link by scrolling the web page to the right.

Importance Level This selectable section provides Retention time for selected video. Users may choose how long selected data segment stores in the MobileView Docking Station before it's automatically deleted.

Lock Locks selected file and prevents access to all except for authorized personnel if check box is checked. Uncheck to unlock the file.

Device ID Body Worn Camera ID assigned by the System Admin. This data cannot be altered or deleted by user.

Recording Time Recorded segment's start date and time. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Length (min) Duration of recorded segment in minutes. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Docking Station IP address of MobileView Docking Station the file has been uploaded to. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Case ID Users may enter specific Case ID to recorded segment.

Subtask Users may select secondary brief description of selected data file

Size (MB) File size of recorded segment. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Date Uploaded Date and time when the file has been uploaded on MobileView Docking Station. This data cannot be altered or deleted.

Description Users may enter details for recorded segment in this section. The Description may consist of detailed information on the case or keywords. The description entered in this field may be used in Advanced Search in Description field.

Plug-in If video is not displaying on the web interface, simply click on Plug-In button to install Video Plug-in for the browser in use. Upon successful installation, MobileView Web Interface refreshes to the homepage.

Full Screen Users may view selected video in full screen.
