DIY Fire poïs

a This strand braiding is also called «scoubidou» very strong it’s the setup used by performers to make «dragons»

Equipment 8 2 Kevlar ropes 1 m 8 2 kevlar strands of 5 x 10 cm 8 1 chain of 40 cm 8 4 Wire of Kevlar 10 cm

8 Taking the two strands of kevlar, which mark the center. Then placed as shown below against, overlapping cen-ters of the two strands. One strand thus makes a loop around the other.

8 Then take the chain and ridges pass in the middle by the loop. The ideal is then to find a ring, wire or other to keep the chain in this position (then suspend ...).

8 Take one of the four strands, and then let go on the strand next door, as shown in the picture.

8 Do the same with the strand on which you just passed, always maintaining good vertical chain.

8 The same with the third strand ... 8 The final strand is passed through the loop formed by the first strand, to obtain a symmetry as in the photo.

8 Then tighten the knot by pulling the strands one by one. 8 Take a kevlar wicks, then wind there in the direction of the length of the vertical chain. The kevlar band should be as stuck as possible the basic node.

8 Keep the wick and wrapped with 2 wires of kevlar. 8 Then make a new node with the 4 strands ...

8 Tighten the knot, trying to wedge the Kevlar tape wound above.

8 Perform another node.

8 Then tighten it ... 8 Add a second band of Kevlar that will fly in the same way as for the first. Then hold also there with son Kevlar.

8 Final phase: tie knots as before, until all the rope is exhausted.

8 Your poi is now complete. You can wrap some tape on the ends of the strands to prevent fraying, waiting to ignite the poi.

8 Yet another perspective. It is possible to cut the wires protruding too. These strands naturally go away after a few enflammages.
