do it yourself at home: the pedicure

Do It Yourself At Home: The Pedicure Researchers have shown that getting a pedicure can be extremely helpful. Besieds helping your feet feel better, when massage is included, pedicures have been known to lower your stress and pain and improve blood flow. Professional pedicures, though, are not something that lots of people are interested in seeking out. Professional pedicures involve using the same tools that have been used on multitudes of others and you can't tell those tools are hygienic. The good news is that it is perfectly possible to give yourself a pedicure. Here is what you have to do if you are interested to experience all the benefits of a pedicure without stepping out of your front door. Take off any nail polish using a non-acetone polish remover (acetone is not good for your health). Then trim the toenails (straight across) and use a nail file to file down any rough edges. Make sure you use a toenail clipper and not a fingernail clipper. The curved shape of a clipper used for clipping fingernails can cause toenails to become ingrown and begin hurting. Try soaking your feet in a warm bath. Try to keep your feet in the bath for about three minutes. You can try adding things like lavender bath salts or other skin moisturizers and soothers. This makes your foot bath more relaxing and is a good way to take care of your feet to help them feel better. Pretty much every bath and body aisle of stores have things to make a foot bath better. Some are pricier than others but pick the one you like the best. Use a pumice to smooth down any rough patches or calluses that may still be left after the foot bath. Don't use a callus shaver or something similar. Plain old pumice stones are just fine. Rinse your feet once you are through using the pumice stone. After you have rinsed off any pumice or callus dust and also any foot soak additives that might be clinging on, apply some moisturizing lotion. There are many moisturizing lotions that are made particularly for the feet. Don't settle for just rubbing in the lotion, although you can if you are pressed for time. Rather, if possible, really massage in the lotion. The massage is great for the rest of your body, not simply your feet. Now that your feet are all clean, free of calluses and have been properly moisturized, if you have time, the next step is to make them beautiful. Though this isn't precisely an essential step, knowing that your toes are pretty (even if you're the only one who can see them because your feet are stuffed into closed toe shoes all day) can do quite a lot for your confidence. Cuticle pushers are the best option for pushing back your cuticles (trimmers can lead to a number of injuries and infections). Your base coat has to be a quality nail strengthening polish. After that has had the time to dry properly, paint whatever colors or designs that you want! At-home pedicures can be done somewhat quickly and are commonly less expensive than those that you would get professionally. They're good for your whole body health, so get going!
