DNP3 Overview
• DNP3 – “Distributed Network Protocol” version 3
• A powerful protocol to transmit data from Point A to PointB using serial and/or TCP/IP communications.
• Open and public protocol
• Developed in the early 1990s to achieve standards-based interoperability between Master stations andsubstation computer systems in the electric industry.
