The Lord of Luren SanctuaryA Neoclasical Church. The Lord of Luren is consideredthe patron saint of the city. During the Holy weekand the third week of October, thousands ofbelievers gather to follow his statue in a procession.

Huacachina LakeIt is a traditional relaxation spot for the people of Ica.The lake looks like an oasis in the middle of a desert,forming a splendid landscape of dunes, palm treesand acacias. Some people believe the water havemedicinal properties. Over there you can alsopractice sand board or get into a boogie.

Town of CachicheThe tradition says that Cachiche was famous for itswitches who healed all types of diseases and undidcurses. You can see the seven palm trees, the(popular name given to this palm tree) the trunk ofwhich produces six further palm trees.

Los Frailes Megalith ComplexIt is a group of winded eroded, strangely shapedrocks. The figures of a turtle, a monkey´s head, atoad, and an astronaut are visible. There is a naturallookout where y can see the entire city of Ica.

Province of Nasca

Nasca LinesIt is a vast network of lines and drawings of animalsand plants credited to the Nasca culture covering anarea of approximately 350 km2 / 135 miles2. Someof the best drawn figures are the hummingbird, thedog, the monkey, and the long tailed mockingbird.The German Maria Reiche, devoted 50 years of herlive to studying and researching the area and cameto the conclusion that it was an astronomicalcalendar. From a 12 meter / 39 feet lookout, you canpartially observe the shapes of the hand and thetree. However in order to appreciate the drawingsfully, it is recommended to fly over the area in asmall airplane.

Cantalloc AqueductIt is an aqueduct built by Nasca culture which stillworks today. Flagstones and acacia trunks were usedto build and they have resisted marching of time.

Palpa Lines and FiguresThese are enormous zoomorphic and phytomorphicgeometric drawings similar to the Nasca Lines. Theyare located in the towns of Sacramento, Pichangoand Llipata.

Province of Pisco

Paracas National ReserveThe reserve´s 335.000 hectares is a refuge for furseals, Humbolt penguins, flamingos (parihuanas) andmany other birds. You can visit many differentnatural and archeological attractions in the reserve.One of them is the El Candelabro, a geoglyph ofmore than 120 meters / 394 feet long, betterappreciated from the ocean.

Ballestas IslandsThey are located outside the reserve area. Theyconstitute the habitat of a great variety of birds andsea lions. This excursion is one of the most regularones from Paracas.
