INTRODUCTION PAGE l

This report descrobes a program of sampling,

drilling, blasting, and stripping conducted by the

claim holders, prior to the property being mapped

geologically. Three areas that were mechanically

stripped were sampled, as well as hand stripped

outcrops throughout the property.

The property consists of six claims (20 unit

total) and is located in the North Central part of

Gauthier Township, one mile North of the village of

Dobie.

Claim numbers are: L1200344L1200345 L1200346 L1200347 L1200348 L1200366

Access is via Highway 66 to Esker Park Road then

along Esker Park Road to 1/2 mile North of the ONR

tracks to a bush road on the East of the Esker Park

Road. This bush road leads directly to the West part

of the property.

EQUIPMENT USED

An Atlas Copco Cobra was used to drill 18 2ft

deep holes in Area 1. A grub hoe was used to assist in

sampling.

PREVIOUS WORK

The property has a long history of having been

prospected, geophysically mapped, drilled by reverse

The rocks in Gauthier Twp. are Archean in age

and are part of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The rocks

in the township consist of Temiskaming volcanics and

sediments which uncomformably overlie Keewatin acid to

basic volcanics. This unconformity extends from just

South of Victoria Lake and strikes generally Southeast-

Northwest through the township. The unconformity crosses

the East township line l 1/2 miles North of the Southeast

corner of the township. Small syenite stocks intrude all

rock types. The major structural feature in the township

is the Larder Lake "break" which is exposed at Dobie and

strikes Southeast to Fork Lake in the Southeast corner of

the township. The Northwest extension of the fault is

covered by overburden.

Other faults in the township are the North trending

Misema River Fault and an Easterly striking shear zone

that cuts through the Upper Canada Hine property.

Pleistocene sand and gravel which are part of the

Munro Esker complex are extensive in the N'orthwest and

South parts of the township.

The stripped area is found within the GAUTHIER

VOLCANIC group of rocks. From North to South, stripping

exposed a mineralized shear striking 90 degrees.The shear

abuts a fragmental tuff wherin fragments vary from 1/4

inch to 8 inches. The fragments appear stretched out and

are oriented striking between 80 - 100 degrees with 90

degrees being most common.

This fragmental can be seen again in the extreme

South end of the stripped area. The rest of the exposed

outcrop was deemed to be either fine or coarse grained

lapilli tuff. The fresh surface is generally medium green

fine grained and coarse grained massive. White circular

lapilli, sometimes as ghost remnants, can be seen.

A brick red alteration zone in the South central part

of the stripped criss-crossed with ladder type veins

was cleaned off by hand and will be sampled at a later date .

GEOLOGY OF STRIPPED AREAS 2 AND 3

Area 2-. when stripped, shoed a 2 foot wide shear

^cne with small, discontinuous quartz veins throughout.

The shear abutted highly silicified and arkosic tuffs to

the North. The Southern part of the stripped area also

abutted a fragmental ^iiff. Thf* "enter of the outcrop was

typical Gauthier Volcanic vi': h several squeezer: out l X l"

quartz veins.

Area 3 proved to be a monotonous ^coking, lime green,

Gauthier Volcanic with the odd area of lapilli tuff. The

original 3" wide quartz carbonate vein on which the

stripping was predicated proved to go nowhere.

CONCLUSIONS

Area *JL should be cleaned with a pressure hose and

properly mapped. The shear zones uncovered whould help in

the interpretation of the TP and VLF surveys to follow.
