The word ‘man’ shows that the artist is informal as this is slang and casual talk so from this we can get the understanding that he is young and laid back.

The colour scheme is red white and black, the white represents simplicity and the red and the black are colours that stand out and very vibrant when used together.

Dizzee’s body language looks like he is skateboarding. The caption ‘I’m spreading joy around the world, man!’ represents him as he opens his arm almost like he is showing the world and the smile on his face showing the joy.

The background is full of graffiti which illustrates what kind of genre of music the artist on the front cover does. The graffiti gives a street vibe and quite anti social.

The artist himself has a big cheeky grin on his face like he is up to something and he wears a silver chain a white vest jeans and trainers with writing on them, this is casual attire and clothes youths would wear. The silver chain and graffitied trainers show’s he has money.

The writing is not straight and wonky and slapped onto his body showing a carefree vibe and the shadowing under the writing makes it look urban once again representing the artist.

The NME logo is placed in the top left hand corner of the magazine as when magazines are stacked in shops the left side tends to be showing so this will catch the readers attention. Also the white red and black on the logo with the bold outlining ties in with the theme of the rest of the magazine nicely.

The contents logo is placed insignificantly at the top of the page and has gunshots or splatters in it which gives a punk/rock outlook.

There seems to be a theme of black and white stripes to this genre of music.

An electric guitar is typical of the rock/punk genre and once again points this page towards a target audience of rockers.

The bottom of the page is the last place readers look at but there is a banner advertising Kerrang magazine.

A play on the phrase ‘form rags to riches’ this talks about how dizzee was doing crime such as putting graffiti on walls now he has money from his rap career.

Dizzee is looking away like he is on the lookout for someone as he is doing something he shouldn’t be I,e graffiti.

There are paint splatters watermarked on the background to link with the theme of painting and graffiti.

The bright red jacket Dizzee is wearing links with the background showing him to be as colourful and vibrant as his graffiti work.

The whole magazine is very simplistic and minimal with a plain white background and bold writing with a few words which makes the focus appear mainly on T.I.

The bar code text, writing and caption are stacked neatly on top of each other and frames the artist on the front cover like a border.

The smile on T.I’s face links with the caption next to him ‘has the last laugh’, also this is unusual as he is a rap artist and never shows much expression apart from anger which will intrigue the readers more.

The white suit he is wearing is almost invisible because the white background camoflauges with it.

The black and red writing contrast really well with the white background bringing the text more to attention, also there is the use of ‘the magic C’.

Page 5: Dizzee rascal magazine

The rule of thirds is used in this contents as the image is spread over the contents page and this is what the reader will mainly be looking at.

Much like the front cover the text is stacked onto op each other which makes it more eye friendly and easy to read rather than being scattered everywhere, this also gives a more formal and mature look which is contrasting with the readers for the magazine as it would be teenagers/young adults.

The word contents is split into 3 sections giving a modern look and the background is plain white making it look more simplistic and minimalistic.

The two artists on the contents page are representative of the hip-hop/rap genre as they are in tight/revealing clothes and portray women as they are seen in rap videos in tight leather and sky high heels.

The pose of this artist is intimidating as the has one hand on her hip and is giving a hard stare to the readers which is again representing the rap/hip-hop genre as violent.

Nicki Minaj on the other hand ahs a pose of seductiveness as she has her eyes half closed and blowing a kiss to the audience and her body language is less intimidating ad her stance is relaxed whereas the other girl is standing hard on both legs.

The consistent theme of stacking letters ontop of each is kept thorughout the magazine.

This artist is wearing heavy chains, rings and an expensive watch to flaunt his riches.

There is a serious look on Nispey’s face which is contradictory to T.I’s on the front cover, he is rubbing his hands together like he has a plan or is happy.

The magazine name is kept as a masthead throughout the article.

The layout of this article is simple as ¾ of the page is an image and the ext is in a column of writing, which is more appealing to younger audiences as they may want more pictures than text.

Page 7: Dizzee rascal magazine

The artist on the front cover has no expression on her face even though her clothes, hair and the background look very bright and cheerful. Most of her cleavage and legs are revealed which is typical of the hip hop genre.

The image is right in the middle and follows the rule of thirds as the attention is drawn to the artist. Her outfit is purple

and pink which is very representative of the female gender and her revealing outfit draws attention to the male gender. Her pose is almost like she is wandering through the summer garden full of blossoms.

The background is like a japanese garden that is full of cherry blossoms and ties in with Nicki Minaj’s geisha outfit.

It looks very mystical and sunny and cheery and very colourful to look at and would appeal to younger audiences. There is no particular colourscheme apart form the white and yellow writing.

Nicki Minaj’s name is on the side of the magazine as the right hand side is what is seen on a magazine rack and because of her fame people will pick up the magazine.

The left side of the contents page is almost like another section because it is organised into neat rows with numbers to point the reader in the direction of the articles they want to read.

A theme of black and white suits/clothes is kept on the contents page with both the males and females showing sophistication.

The writing for the contents is in block bold black letters like the letter for ‘billboard’. This keeps in theme with the magazine and gives a neater look,

The contents page is split into sections where the top is with images and the features of the magazine and the bottom section has online events and other information.

Page 9: Dizzee rascal magazine

Unlike Vibe this magazine has a lot of text and one small image showing it’s for older audiences who prefer to read than look at photos.

The border is in bright blue and some of the text is in orange which links with the bright colours inside the billboard logo. This makes the page seem less dull as it is swamped with text adding colour livens it up.

A quote from the interview is put in larger front with orange speech marks so the reader will read that first and if it interests them they’ll be drawn to the rest of the article.

The image of Alex is places randomly in-between the logo and text, he is in smart clothing however having his cap turned to the side shows that he is young and with trends.
