2. Dig to a depth of approximately 100mm. Remove all roots and plant matter within the perimeter.

3. Add ±40mm of moist river sand where the blocks are to be placed. Even out the river sand and ensure that it is level.

1. Use rods and string to demarcate a radius of 625mm, where you would like to place the fire pit. This will demarcate the outer perimeter of the fire pit. The diameter will be 1250mm.

4. Place blocks tightly in a circle. Start by completing the first layer and then level the blocks with a spirit level.

7. Place the coping over the last block layer, again with each centre over the joint below ensuring that the copings fit together neatly. Remove the copings one-by-one and apply the fire-resistant glue to the last layer of blocks. Place the coping down again, and apply pressure ensuring the coping is level.

8. Finally, fill the completed fire pit to the desired level with river sand - normally level. Up to 150mm (one course height) from the top.

NOTE: THE GLUE BINDS THE BLOCKS AND IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR GROUTING.

5. Stagger the next layer, by placing the centre of each block over the joint below it, ensuring that blocks fit together neatly.

6. Lift one block at a time and apply the fire-resistant glue to the bottom blocks. Then place the block down again, and apply pressure.
