Instructions:

1) Draw the silhouette of a horsehead on the A4 paper (without the ears), cut this out and use it as a model.

2) Draw an ear on the paper and also use this as a model.

3) Lay the models on the felt.

4) Cut out the horsehead two times en two times an ear.

5) Cut out two times the manes out of another colour felt with an extra 2cm on top.

6) Double fold one ear and sew it on one side of the horsehead and repeat for the other side.

7) Lay the manes on the head on the right spot and fold the extra 2cm inside.

8) Put on the other side of the head and sew it all together. Leave a small piece open so that you can fill this with fiberfill and put the stick in.

Done!

Instrucciones:

1) Dibuja la silueta de la cabeza de un caballo en un folio DIN A-4 (sin las orejas), recórtala y úsala como modelo.

2) Ahora dibuja una oreja y utilízala también de modelo.

3) Coloca los modelos sobre el fieltro.

4) Corta dos veces la cabeza de caballo y la oreja.

5) Corta dos veces la crin en un fieltro de otro color dejando dos centímetros más de largo en la parte superior.

6) Dobla una oreja y cósela en uno de los lados de la cabeza de caballo. Repítelo en el otro lado.

7) Pon la crin en la parte derecha de la cabeza y dobla los 2 cm extra por dentro.

8) Pon la otra crin en el otro lado de la cabeza y cóselo todo. Deja un pequeño espacio libre para poner el relleno de fibra y el palo.

¡Hecho!

CANDLE LIT TEA PARTY

How to:1) PREPARATION:Thread the wick through the sustainer and knot the end to prevent it from coming out again. Heat/melt a little bit of wax to ‘prime’ your wick, this involves dunking the wick in the wax and allowing it to dry. Secure the sustainer to the bottom of the cup with a small dot of prestick, this just stops it from moving at all.

2) SECURE THE WICK:As mentioned above, use a small dot of prestick to secure the sustainer to the bottom of the cup Once secure tie the wick to a stick/skewer, this will hold the wick straight up and prevent it from sinking into the wax while drying.

3) MELT YOUR WAX:Melt your wax in a pot or iron kettle, the kettle is recommended as it has a spout and make easy for pouring. I worked with what I had and managed just fine with a pot. Do not spill the wax, not only does it make a mess, its VERY hot and will burn you. Allow your wax filled cups to cool, if you are impatient you can pop them in the fridge. They might sink a little, as the wax contracts, I just topped it back up again and they came out perfect.Useful hints when dealing with wax-- Pour wax at 70c for optimal results.- Wash mould/pot in hot soapy water after use.Over all this DIY was great fun and was so easy to do…

Safety precautions- Never heat wax on an open flame, if you have a gas stove like me be VERY careful. Wax catches alight.- Do not heat wax in a microwave.- Do not heat wax unattended whilst heating, wax catches alight when too hot.- In case of fire, turn heat off. DO NOT extinguish with water. Pour sand on the flames.- Do not pour hot wax down the sink or toilet.

Cómo se hace:1) PREPARACIÓN:Enhebra la mecha en el soporte y haz un nudo en el extremo para que no se salga. Calienta o funde un poco de cera para preparar la mecha: hay que sumergir la mecha en la cera y dejarla secar. Fija el soporte en el fondo de la taza con una gotita de pegamento para que no se mueva nada.

2) FIJAR LA MECHA:Como hemos dicho anteriormente, pon una gotita de pegamento para fijar el soporte en el fondo de la taza. Una vez fijado, ata la mecha a un palo o a un pincho para que esta quede recta y así evitar que se hunda en la cera mientras se va consumiendo.

3) FUNDIR LA CERA:Funde la cera en una cazuela o en una tetera de hierro. Es más recomendable la tetera porque tiene pitorro y resulta más fácil a la hora de verter la cera. Yo lo hice con lo que tenía a mano y la cazuela ya me fue bien. No derrames la cera no solo porque lo ensucia todo, sino porque está MUY caliente y te quemarás. Deja que las tazas llenas de cera se enfríen. Si no tienes mucha paciencia, puedes ponerlas en la nevera. Puede que se reduzcan un poco porque la cera se contrae. Yo las volví a rellenar de nuevo y me quedaron perfectas.Consejos útiles para trabajar con cera:- Para un resultado óptimo, vierte la cera a 70 grados.- Lava el molde y la cazuela con agua caliente y jabón después de su uso.Me lo pasé muy bien haciendo esta manualidad y fue muy fácil de hacer.

Precauciones de seguridad- Nunca calientes la cera directamente con fuego. Si tienes una cocina de gas como yo, ten MUCHO cuidado. La cera es inflamable.- No calientes la cera en el microondas.- No dejes de vigilar la cera mientras se calienta, ya que puede arder cuando está muy caliente.- En caso de que se produzca fuego, apaga el fogón. NO lo apagues con agua. Echa arena sobre las llamas.- No viertas cera caliente por el fregadero o el lavabo.

FOX STAMPDIY

How to:1) Draw your design onto a piece of carving rubber (you can buy them on Etsy.) The rubber is nice and soft which makes it really easy to carve. I just drew a little fox on by hand and then carved it out. Tip: When carving a stamp it is important to think about positive and negative, ie. What is going to be white and what is going to be colour.

2) You can use fabric paint, ink, craft paint which you apply to the stamp with a paint brush. Tip: Do a few testers on paper and you will often see some spots that need to be carved a little deeper.

3) Once you are happy with your stamp, lay your fabric out onto a flat surface. Then let the stamping begin Tip: use pressure when pushing it down. You will find your groove!

I then ironed it (on the reverse) and ironed ‘up’ the raw ends to flatten them so I could make a spread for my coffee table. A quick, no sew solution! Cute for a themed event or girl’s tea party. I celebrated by getting out a vintage tea and saucer which belonged to my great grandmother.

Cómo se hace:1) Dibuja tu diseño en un trozo de goma para tallar (puedes comprarla en Etsy). La goma va bien y es suave, lo cual hace que resulte fácil de tallar. Yo dibujé un pequeño zorro a mano y después lo tallé. Consejo: cuando tallas un sello, es importante que pienses en lo positivo y en lo negativo, por ejemplo qué es lo que va a quedar blanco y qué, en color.

2) Puedes utilizar pintura para tela, tinta o pintura para manualidades que aplicarás en el sello con un pincel. Consejo: haz unas cuantas pruebas en un papel para ver los puntos que habría que tallar un poco más.

3) Cuando ya estés satisfecho con tu sello, despliega la tela sobre una superficie plana y empieza a estampar. Consejo: haz presión cuando aprietes. ¡Ya le pillarás el truco!

Después planché la tela del revés y, del derecho, las partes que no me habían quedado del todo bien para aplanarlas y así poderla poner en mi mesa de café. ¡Una nueva solución y sin coser!. Es ideal para un evento temático o una fiesta de té para niñas. Yo lo celebré sacando una taza y un platillo de té antiguos que pertenecían a mi abuela.

DIY: LE BOUGEOIRTÊTE DE POUPÉE

Instructions:Begin by cutting the doll’s head with a craft knife at the base of the neck.Using a pencil, draw round the base of the candle on the top of the head. Use the craft knife to hollow out the circle. Coat the head (I used a satin finish), wait for the paint to dry properly before turning it over to cover all sides. For the rosy cheeks, first sand lightly to make the paint bond better. Then we can use watercolour paint to create an opaque effect. As an alternative use gouache paint with a very small amount of water and dab lightly with a cotton cloth.

And voila!

note: Inspiration comes from the candle of Little Joseph by Velcovsky.

Instrucciones:Empezamos cortando la cabeza de la muñeca con un cuter a la altura del cuello.Utilizaremos la base de la vela para dibujar el contorno con un lápiz en la parte de arriba de la cabeza. con el cuter vaciamos ese círculo.

Abombamos la cabeza (yo lo utilicé satinado), mientras esperamos que la pintura seque bien para darle la vuelta de forma que cubra todos los lados.

Para las mejillas rosadas, primero lijé un poco para que la pintura pueda fijarse mejor. Utilicé acuarela para darle un aspecto borroso. De lo contrario se puede utilizar pintura aguada con muy poco agua, y utilizar un algodón para secar.

¡Y ya está!.

DIY: GEM NIGHTLIGHT

A pretty nightlight can really make nighttime bathroom chores a lot more fun, using some paper and a dollar store nightlight, you can easily make this on-trend gemstone one!

Instructions:1) Draw out your gemstone on a piece of paper and make sure you size it for the light.

2) Trace or copy it on the back of your cardstock (mine was white on the other side so that part was easy).

3) Cut out your shape with your xacto. Then trace that shape onto your vellum and cut it out three times.

4) Tape the three pieces together with tiny pieces of tape so they feel secure. Carefully super glue the gem and stick them together.

5) Wrap your wire around the base of the nightlight tightly about five times. Then take the two ends and double wrap them out. Make sure you keep the paper pretty far from the light so it won’t get hot. My gem is about 2 inches from the actual bulb. bend a small flat loop up at the end.

6) Apply super glue to the bottom corner of the gem, add a small piece of tape, and hold firmly for minutes until it feels secure.

Una bonita lámpara de noche puede hacer más divertidas las tareas nocturnas del baño. Solo con usar un poco de papel y una bombilla de un dólar, ¡puedes hacerte fácilmente esta moderna piedra preciosa!

Instrucciones:1) Dibuja tu piedra preciosa en un trozo de papel y asegúrate de que tomas las medidas correctas para la bombilla.

2) Traza o cálcala en la parte trasera de la cartulina (la mía era blanca por la otra cara, así que esta parte fue fácil).

3) Recórtala con la navaja de precisión y, después, traza esa forma en el papel de vitela y córtala tres veces.

4) Para fijarlas, engancha las tres piezas con pequeños trocitos de celo. Con cuidado, pon pegamento fuerte en la gema y pégalas.

5) Envuelve el cable alrededor de la base de la lamparita con fuerza dándole unas cinco vueltas. Coge los dos extremos y haz un doble nudo. Asegúrate de que el papel queda bastante lejos de la bombilla para que no se caliente. Mi gema está a una distancia de unos cinco centímetros de la bombilla. Haz un pequeño lazo al final.

6) Pon pegamento en la esquina inferior de la gema, añade un trocito de celo y mantenlo sujeto durante unos minutos hasta que se fije.

DIY: METALLIC TEACUPS

Materials:* Metallic gold spray paint

Instructions:1) Cover all parts of the teacups that you do not wish to be spay painted with blue painters tape.

2) Spray paint your teacups making sure you get all undercovered areas.

3) Let teacups dry for about 20 minutes or until dry.

4) Carfully remove tape.

5) You’re finished!
