Here comes

Hi Kiwis! I hope everybody that attended RTC had fun, it was an amazing weekend of fun and bonding with Regions 9, 15, and 17. There were workshops about fundraising, running for office, and many more but there were fun events like the dance, campfire, and ball field activities too! So if you didn't go this year, definitely consider going next year! It has always been a truly awarding experience for me, every time I have gone, I will truly miss Camp Jones Gulch and the craziness of RTC. In Dedicated Service, Charles Chu

It has been almost 8 months since I ran for Lieutenant Governor and the election of a new D2 LTG is coming up! That means it is time for you, a friend, or any member you know to consider running for LTG because elections are coming up in January!

As LTG, there is a lot of work I have to do but don’t let that discourage you, all of it has been a truly awarding experience! Every month, I submit a Monthly Report Form, host/plan Division Council Meetings, host/plan training Conferences, actively participate in several committees, attend KC and Kiwanis meetings, help members in any way necessary, and much more. If you would like to know more about the Lieutenant Governor position attend Candidates Training Conference in Sacramento (Sacramento - Kiwanis Family House, 2875 50th St Sacramento, CA 95817) on December 1st. If you are motivated to run for LTG, here are some tips: learn how to fill out a club MRF, plan/host DCMs or KC meetings, attending training conferences, assist members, actively participate in your home club and division activities. If you are thinking about running for LTG, please contact me and I can tell you more about it, as well as important dates and other helpful tips!

With DCON being so far away this year, it's going to be expensive travelling to. Cut costs for you and your members by fundraising early!

• Hold a bake sale outside your local Safeway • Host a talent/benefit show at your school • Sell boxes of candy, or food at a school event • Ask your Kiwanis club for sponsorship • Make and sell holiday grams • Hold a photography contest • Do a cake walk • Ask for tips when caroling

A marketing tactic: hold fundraisers that support multiple causes, like DCON and The Eliminate Project. Good luck!

Featured News Presented by your Editors and Historians

By Taylor Chow, Piedmont HS On September 30th, Piedmont Key Clubbers

volunteered at Piedmont’s annual Harvest Festival at the Piedmont Community Center.

Imagine a long parking lot full of tables and canopies. Children of every age running everywhere with smudged sunscreen marks still visible on their skin. All you can hear is the laughter of children and their parents mingling with other families. You can smell the sweetness of the fresh cakes as you walk by the cakewalk. You can feel the hot sun beating down on your skin. As you walk further you can almost taste the burgers cooking on the grill.

The Harvest Festival is an event in Piedmont where kids get to enjoy playing carnival games such as balloon darts, participate in the cakewalk and much more. Kids can participate in small craft projects like decorating a mini pumpkin. Families get to look at all the unique scarecrows made by elementary school  classes. There’s also a live band in the park for people to relax and enjoy the day.

This year, Key Clubbers volunteered at the food station serving food to the many families that were at the festival. Allyson Chan worked behind the scenes by helping prepare the plates, while Jonathan Khuu and Jamie Chow helped serve salads to the customers who opted for a lighter meal. On the other end of the table, Taylor Chow helped serve hot dogs, hamburgers and other foods to the long line of families.

Whether one was volunteering or just hanging out with friends, the Harvest Festival was a lot of fun for everyone.
