4 Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Alleluia! Closing the Easter Octave, this Sunday is celebrated as the Divine Mercy Feast. Although for ages it was called ‘White Sunday’ be-cause of the tradition for newly baptized at Easter Vigil to come in white garments for Mass on every day of the Octave. They came to the church no more as catechumens, they came as fully privileged faithful. The joy was great because they were in union with the Church community. Today, we hear about Thomas, the Apostle, who did not keep company with other apostles. He thought the whole affair of Jesus was over and it

belonged to the past. Other apostles, except John, also lost their hope, but they kept together. Thomas did not see any value in spending time together, to build the unity. That community had no value for Thomas. The doubts and unbelief took over him. What is the value of parish community for me? Of course, every one of us is unique. But we can see different levels of involvement: there are such faithful whose names are written in sac-ramental records, others who come only for the biggest feasts, there are some who come on a regular basis for Sunday Mass, and there are some who are looking for more development in faith, more activities, and are ready to commit themselves to ministry. Jesus’ coming after resurrection says ‘receive the Holy Spirit’, ‘peace be with you’. These are the gifts of the Risen Lord. When we contemplate Jesus’ gifts, we discover the great Mercy of God. We are ready to say ‘Jesus I trust in you!’ Even if we sep-arate ourselves from community like Thomas, there is always a chance to come back and discover anew the One who conquered sin and death. Full communion with the Church community strengthens our hearts and restores our hope. This Sunday afternoon we celebrate Divine Mercy Devotion at 3 o’clock preceded with the opportunity for Sacrament of Recon-ciliation from 2 o’clock. Please, come and praise God who is merciful.

May God bless you, Fr. Andrew

Our Lady, Mother of the Church Mission Statement

We, the members of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, are drawn together through baptism as a part of the Body of Christ. We are a caring Catholic community, working together as instruments through which Jesus, our risen Lord and Head, continues His mission. Linked to Christ as His Body, we believe that the risen Jesus still proclaims God’s word, gives thanks and praise, welcomes, nurtures, comforts and reaches out to all people. Using the hands and hearts of the members of the parish, with a growing sense that each of us is gifted and has an important part to play in our Parish, Church and World, we renew our call: ♦ to be a Parish diligent about Word and Eucharist, the primary source of our nourishment and spiritual growth... ♦ to be “missioned” - sent forth in the person of Jesus, to bring His Word and Eucharist to family, friends, neighbors and workplace... ♦ to reach out to the sick, the homebound, the persecuted, the lonely, the poor and the bereaved… ♦ to find time to share laughter, joy, friendship, at times, tears; and always to share the goodness of each other...

Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8

2 p.m. Eucharistic Adoration and Confession 3 p.m. Divine Mercy Devotion and Benediction

Sunday of Divine Mercy, the Second Sunday of Easter, is the great day of mercy. St. Faustina wrote in her Diary, entry 1109, that God told her, I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of my mercy. This Sunday is the Feast of God’s mercy. The image of Divine Mercy will be in the church for veneration. After going to Mass and receiving Holy Communion, go to Confession at 2 p.m. so your sins and the punishment for them will be completely forgiven. Eucharistic Adoration will also begin at 2 p.m., and at 3 p.m., the Divine Mercy devotion and Benediction.
