Again I would like to extend a big thank you to all who made our Holy Week and Easter such a beautiful week of celebrations. I am truly blessed to be your pastor. Today, we will be having a wonderful celebration. We will be having our 1 st Communion celebration for 43 of our students from our school and faith for- mation programs. I am very excited to celebrate this Mass for these students as they will be receiving Jesus Christ for the first time. I ask you to keep all of our 1 st Communion students in your prayers as they continue on their faith journey. Today is also Divine Mercy Sunday. The Lord continually offers us His love, mercy and compassion, even in these modern times. One example of His Divine Mercy is His message to us through St. Faustina. (Sister Faustina was canon- ized in Rome on the first Sunday after Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday, April 30, 2000 by Blessed John Paul II.) In the 1930s, St. Faustina received from the Lord a message of mercy that she was told to spread throughout the world. She was asked to become the apostle and secretary of God's mercy, a model of how to be merciful to others, and an instrument for re-emphasizing God's plan of mercy for the world. The Lord also taught Sister Faustina a special prayer or the “Chaplet of Divine Mercy” which is said on the rosary beads. He also asked that a special prayer and meditation on His Passion be said each afternoon at three o’clock, the hour in which we recall His death on the cross. I want you to know how beautiful this devotion to the Divine Mercy is. Developing your own devotion to the Divine Mercy is a journey that will lead you deeper into the mysteries of your faith and fill you with joyful amazement for His love. There are CD’s and books in the Lighthouse Catholic Media kiosk in the gathering space of the church. Next week I will be out of the office. I will be with my brother priests and dea- cons for the spring clergy conference. I would like to thank Deacon Randy and Deacon Bob for helping cover communion services throughout the week. Please keep all of us in your prayers as we attend this annual meeting. Have a blessed week! Fr.
