Sending Forth I Could Sing of Your Love Forever 1. Over the mountains and the sea Your river runs with love for me, and I will open up my heart, and let the Healer set me free. Family Prayer

L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the

prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism.

We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people.

Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence.

Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us.

Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family.

Sending Forth In The Light 1. I keep trying to find a life on my own, apart from You. I am the king of excuses; I've got one for every selfish thing I do. Tell me, what's going on inside of me? I despise my own behavior. This only serves to confirm my suspicions that I'm s ll a man in need of a Savior. Refrain I want to be in the light as You are in the light. I want to shine like the stars in the heavens. Lord, be my light and be my salva on, ‘cause all I want is to be in the light. All I want is to be in the light. 2. The disease of the self runs through my blood; It's a cancer fatal to my soul. Ev’ry a empt on my behalf has failed to bring the sickness under control. Tell me, what's going on inside of me? I despise my own behavior. This only serves to confirm my suspicions that I'm s ll a man in need of a Savior.

In today's Gospel (Jn 15:9-17), Jesus gives us the commandment to love one another. He says, "Love one another as I love you," (Jn 15:12). The LifeTeen Blog states, "We can not love each other without first spending time with Jesus because otherwise we do not know what real love is." A LifeTeen author explains, "If you want to experience the love of God, invite the Holy Spirit into your life, daily." Join us for a LifeTeen or Edge event as we learn to “remain in the Father’s love, as Jesus says in the Gospel.

Whoever loves Me will keep My word, says the Lord, and My Father will love him and We will come to him. John 14:23

This is the promise of Jesus to each of us - that the Holy Trinity will dwell within us. That promise is awesome, truly awesome, and should evoke a profound sense of gratitude and humility from each of us. However, there is a “but!” Jesus

also said that to have this inner dwelling of the Triune God, we must keep the commandments. It is just not okay to live as we like, only acknowledging God when we need a favor. We must “keep His word” in season and out of season, on good days and bad ones. Thank God for His mercy, as He also promises to forgive ALL our sins if we are truly repentant. Today, let us listen to Him, embrace His love and experience His peace. Reflection by Anne-Marie d’Abadie Barrilleaux

The Eucharistic Miracles of the World, presented by The Real

Presence Association, Inc. All are invited to a special showing of over 100 posters documenting

extraordinary miraculous events concerning the Eucharist. The miracles documented have all been recognized by local bishops, and their origins span the world. The exhibit will be in the gym and is free and open to all ages: Friday, May 11, 2018, from 3:00 - 7:00 PM; Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM; and Sunday, May 13, 2018, from 9:00 AM - 12 noon. For additional information, you may contact the office of St. Dominic Church, 504-482-4156 or Ginger Spedale at 504-758-9290.

Vacation Bible School Early Registration for Vacation Bible School has begun. This year, the Camp will be available for children in grades K-6th, and it is taking place the week of July 9th-13th.

VBS is a summer camp program that includes daily scripture review and activities about how God plays a role in our lives. 7th-12th graders are invited and necessary to serve as volunteers. We are also in need of adult volunteers (college-aged or older). Parents, relatives, and other parishioners are encouraged to assist to ensure VBS runs smoothly.

Anyone who is interested in either attending VBS as a camper or volunteering, can print the appropriate form from the website (www.divinemercyparish.org), or sign up in back of church after Mass. Return forms before May 23 to Church, School Office or when Elementary Catechesis, EDGE, or LifeTeen meet. Contact: Jacques Delouche at [email protected] or Ryan Foulon at [email protected] for questions. Thank you very much and we hope to see many of you on this thrilling experience. God Bless You.

“Dios es rico en misericordia . . .” Efesios 2:4

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
