THE WORD IS THE PRESENCE OF OUR LORD THROUGH SCRIPTURE, THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH WE CAN CONTINUE TO BUILD OUR FAITH.
...Brittain Banull DRE Photos from Breakfast with Santa are available for pick up in the parish office. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a fun and successful event for our parish.
TELLING THE CHRISTMAS STORY Any of our young people in grades K-5 are invited to participate in the re-telling of Christ’s Birth at the 4:00PM Mass on December 24, 2015 at Riverside High School. You will need to attend 2 practices. The first practice will take place on Sunday, December 20, at 12:00PM in the Church. Parts and costumes will be assigned during this evening. This practice should only take about an hour. The second practice will take place on Wednesday, December 23rd at Riverside at 6:00PM. Thank you for all your help and participation in this activity.
Confirmation Service Opportunity Confirmation students are needed to help with the younger children at the 4:00 PM Christmas Eve Mass. For these service hours you must be able to commit to both practices and also the 4:00 PM Mass on Christmas Eve. December 20 at 12:00PM in the Church – Practice December 23 at 6:00PM at Riverside High School – Practice December 24 at 3:15 PM at Riverside High School - Mass
Thank You for the Toothbrush Donations These items will be used on December 19th at St Francis of Assisi Kitchen to help assemble and wrap almost 300 shoe-boxes filled with the items collected throughout our area (soap, chap sticks, tissues, socks, toothbrushes, etc…). The wrapped shoeboxes will be distributed to the homeless of our area for Christmas. Thank you for all of your support with this project.
Youth Group Meeting Our High School Youth Group will meet on Sunday December 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Parish Center. Dress warm, we plan on going Christmas Caroling. Any 8th grade or high school student in private or public school is welcome to attend.
Advent Family Day! An Afternoon of Family, Fun & Faith This year is an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy for the Church. The Holy Father invites all parishes to offer programs that celebrate the year of mercy for their parishioners. We will be having an Advent Family Day on Sunday, December 13th from Noon to 2:30PM. Father Francis Landry, C.P. will lead an adult talk on mercy, while our pre K, elementary and sec-ondary students will be taught a lesson on mercy. Join us for lunch, activities, prayer and much, much more!
From the Desk of Father Pauselli Aging religious need your help. In the Untied States today, there are more than 33,000 seniors Catholic sisters, brothers and religious order priests. These religious worked tirelessly in Catholic schools, hospitals and agencies, usually for lit-tle to no pay. As a result, many communities lack adequate savings for retirement and eldercare. Your gift to today’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious helps provide medications, nursing care, and more. Please be generous.
May I call your attention to two events next Sunday, December 20. There will be several priests available for Confes-sion at 4:00 p.m. on December 20. This will provide you with a great opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of Recon-ciliation before Christmas and clear the path so to speak so that the Lord might enter. May I also encourage you to at-tend the parish Concert sponsored by our music ministry on Sunday, December 20 at 7:00 p.m. A lot of preparation goes into this concert and it is a wonderful way to prepare for the birthday of our Savior. The concert lasts for no more than one hour and it is followed by a great party in the Parish Center. Mark your calendars and plan to attend!
Have a great week!
