Catechetical Sunday
On September 18, 2016 our parish will join with parishes throughout the diocese and the country to celebrate Cate-chetical Sunday. At 11:00 AM Mass we will recognize all those involved in handing on the faith to children, youth and adults in our parish. Catechetical Sunday reminds each of us that in Baptism we are charged with the responsibility of handing on and witnessing to the faith in all we do. Our catechetical programs help us to fulfill that responsibility by presenting our faith in a systematic way. Please keep all of our catechists in your prayers throughout this year.
Interested In Becoming Catholic?
Try R.C.I.A. “The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults”
The Catholic Church is always ready to welcome those who wish to become a part of its faith community. The faith community of Divine Mercy Parish strives to reach out to anyone interested in exploring the possibility of becoming Catholic. This is always done in a manner where there is no pressure or obligation placed on a person to actually be-come Catholic. Anyone seeking answers to their faith life can enter into a process where they, along with many others, search for God in a new and more meaningful way.
If you have felt the first stirrings of interest in discovering who Jesus is and what it means to be a Catholic, please con-tact Brittain Banull at 344-1724 for more information.

Diocesan Annual Appeal 2016
“Living Faith, Serving with Mercy”
“The great gift of mercy lies at the heart of all we do as a Church, and it also lies at
the heart of the support we received for the Diocesan Annual Appeal.”
- Bishop Joseph C. Bambera
You are invited to join with parishioners across the Diocese as they practice Living
Faith, Serving with Mercy by supporting the 2016 Annual Appeal. Pope Francis called
this Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy to direct our actions "on mercy so that we may
become a more effective sign of the Father's actions in our lives . . . …“God is love” (1
Jn 4:8,16). This love has now been made visible and tangible in Jesus’ entire life.…The
signs he works, especially in favour of sinners, the poor, the marginalized, the sick,
and the suffering, are all meant to teach mercy. Everything in him speaks of mercy…”
As presented by Bishop Bambera, Pope Francis offered his hope for the Church: that
every man and woman, every child would find in the Church a place of welcome,
would experience in the Church the love, the Mercy, the forgiveness, and the grace
of a welcoming God. The great gift of Mercy that is available to all of us during this
wonderful Jubilee Year also calls us as faithful souls to be merciful as our Father in
Heaven is merciful. It reflects the heart and substance of who we are as a local
Church as we seek to reflect, in our own lives, the leadership of Jesus in service to his
brothers and sisters.
“When we work together in the unity of the Holy Spirit, sharing the gifts our heavenly
Father has given us, and “serve with Mercy,” we are truly “living faith.” None of us
can do this alone, but across the 120 parishes of our Diocese, however, we have
enormous power to be the presence of Christ in the world.” This is the mission and
purpose of the vital ministries made possible by the Diocesan Appeal throughout the
11 counties of our Diocese.
