This is the Health Sector Contingency Plan for District Nowshera for The Upcoming MonsoonTRANSCRIPT

It is situated on the Eastern side of Peshawar.
This district is surrounded by 5 other districts & an FR Area, Namely
Peshawar Charsadda Mardan Swabi Attock & FR Kohot
The Terrain of Nowshera is plan in its Northern half while its southern part is hilly
River Kabul is the main River running through Nowshera
River Kabul was the main cause of devastation and wreckage in the year 2010’s Flood.
For operational purpose during Emergency The District Has been divided into 5 Zones.
Each Zone has been assigned to a team leader, who will Supervise & coordinate all the emergency operations in his assigned zone.
An Ambulance will be on standby for each zone for the transportation of Staff, logistics & referrals
In addition two more Ambulances will be on standby, each at DHQ Nowshera and MRHSMH Pabbi

To issue the early warning time to time and ensure the dissemination of warning to the grass root level.
To work 24/7 during the days of emergency . To update the data received from Tehsils and display on
the notice boards daily To provide necessary guidelines and operational
strategies as per standard procedure on the disastrous situation to district administration, line agencies and NGOs
To coordinate with the different stakeholders , line agencies, local government, NGOs, UN Agencies and concerned department
To support evacuation of the communities and relocation measure taken by concerned department
Supervision and Monitoring of disaster management and relief activities together with NGOs/UN Agencies
Coordination with different stakeholders and provision of technical support to line agencies and NGOs in conducting Damages and Needs Assessments
Contact and Coordinate with NGOs, INGOs and UN Agencies for timely support
To follow and disseminate the early warning information to communities through stack holders.
To provide necessary guidelines and operational strategies as per standard procedure on the disastrous situation to Tehsil administration and line agencies.
To support evacuation of the communities and relocation measures taken by concerned department
To remain in Contact and Coordination with DCO & DECC for timely support
To provide report 2 times in a day (at 9.00 am & at 6.00pm) to district emergency cell
Led by EDO Health consisting of PPHI, Health Related NGOs
Functions: Coordination meetings with humanitarian actors Mobilizing the entire health network functioning in
the disaster for situation analysis and need assessment
Arrangement of mobile teams for pre-medication of affected communities
Provision of necessary medical facilities at relief camps
Making coordination and communication with DCO.
