What do I see when all of the work is
done? Imagine this with me.
There is an exciting new waterfront
village that welcomes one and all to
its restaurants and shops. People-
locals and visitors - are walking on a
beautiful boardwalk along the intra-
coastal waterway enjoying our beau-
tiful scenery. Some are taking a
cruise around Peanut Island with
Captain Joe.
LOOKING AHEAD TO THE FUTURE
New Business in Town: Jobs
CSL Plasma will open its doors very soon in Riviera Beach. I recently toured the facility and was impressed with the state of the art technology invested. The company has invested approxi-
mately 1.2 million in relocating to our area.
CSL Plasma will hire about 60 people from this community. Ap-
proximately 65% of employees currently are from Riviera Beach.
CSL Plasma’s initial investment was approximately 2 million dol-lars. Some of their employees have relocated here from as far as
Indiana.
This company has made a commitment to our city by securing a
fifteen year lease of the property.
There is music—sometimes jazz,
sometimes music of the islands,
sometimes some good ole R&B-
playing in the background from the
park nearby. Laughter, both from
children and adults tinkles through
the air..
The aromas of a variety of foods tan-
talize the senses.
Fishermen are hauling in their catch
from being out in the Atlantic.
Family reunions or weddings are being
held in the beautiful, all new 2 story
Event Center.
Children and the families are having a
cookout and frolicking in the improved
Bicentennial Park and Beach. Some are
enjoying the water on a rented water-
craft. Some are just sitting in the shade
enjoying the scenery.

Construction has reached its peak at our new $1.1 billion Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean En-ergy Center at the 39-acre site on the Intracoastal Waterway in Rivi-era Beach. Scheduled to open in 2014, and will replace the 1960s-era oil-and-gas-fired plant that was imploded on June 19, 2011. Construction began in November 2011. The new plant will use 33 percent less fuel per megawatt-hour and
produce far fewer emissions. It will produce up to 1,250 megawatts of electricity, or enough to power roughly 250,000 homes and busi-
nesses.
In 2015, the plant’s first full year of operation, it is expected to provide an estimated $20 million in new tax revenue for local government ser-vices..Building this energy center has generated a major economic boost to our community. Before and after photos on left.
Sandra Foland, CEO of Baron Sign Manufacturing on 13th Street in Riviera Beach, was named in the South Florida Business Journal’s September 10, 2013, issue as one of the top 25 business women in the state of Florida. Her dedica-tion and enthusiasm for her business was
not gone unnoticed.
This summer she was one of two people appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Florida Small Business Center Network Statewide Advisory Board. Her term ends
July 31, 2017.
Sandra Foland is a fighter and survivor. In 2002 she was diagnosed with breast and kidney cancer. She said her illness gave her the courage and strength to grow her
business. “It gave me the courage that I could do anything I dreamed,” said Foland. She remains positive about her health (which is good), her business and
the future.
Foland and her husband, Jerry Foland of 43 years, started Baron Sign Manufactur-ing in a Lake Park garage 30 years ago. In 2006 the company moved to Riviera Beach into a $5 million 40,000 square-foot
facility.
Sandra Foland sits on the boards of the Palm Beach Photographic Centre, the Palm Beach Business Development Board, the North Palm Beach Chamber of
Commerce and the Boys and Girls Club.
