DisplayNet™ DN-100 Series

AV-over-10GbE Signal Distribution

The DN-100 Series is the first in an expanding range of DisplayNet™ AV-over-10GbE products. Each DN-100TX transmitter unit accepts multiple source signals including HDMI (with embedded audio and HDCP), analog stereo audio, bidirectional IR, RS-232, and 1GbE Ethernet. These input signals are packetized into a single 10GbE link, without the use of CODECs, and are distributed to destinations via an off-the-shelf 10GbE network switch using a single CAT6a or CAT7 cable up to 328 ft. (100 meters). The 10GbE switch provides a highly efficient and reliable means of distributing AV signals from many sources to an array of DN-100RX receiver units, which convert the packetized 10GbE data to AV output signals at the destination in real time without frame latency or any loss of image quality.

The DN-100 Series distributes uncompressed video with resolutions up to 4K /30p (4:4:4) and 4K /60p (4:2:0) without image artifacts and without frame latency. Video signals may be routed in Point-to-Point, Matrix Switching and Video Wall modes all in the same system. For optimum flexibility, each signal plane (Video, Audio, IR, RS-232, etc.) can be routed completely independently from one another. Advanced audio features are supported, including: networked audio, audio embedding, de-embedding and down-mixing. DN-100 Series transmitter and receiver units are controlled by a DisplayNet Server™, which includes powerful DisplayNet Manager™ software that enables the system to be managed using any third party controller using simple Telnet commands.

Matrix Switcher Operation

DisplayNet™ harnesses the power and cutting edge technology behind the massive global deployment of 10GbE switches used in data centers across the world. Unlike traditional AV matrix switchers that are based on closed, proprietary designs, 10GbE switches utilize open technology proven to provide an extremely efficient and reliable way to move immense amounts of data in real time. The 10GbE standard itself represents decades of collaborative development from the world’s leading IT technology companies. The combined innovation, cost, efficiency, scalability and 24/7/365 reliability make 10GbE switches a vastly superior solution for AV signal distribution.

Unlike traditional AV matrix switchers, the number of endpoints in a DisplayNet™ system is only limited by the number available 10GbE switch ports. Since 10GbE is fully duplex (10Gbps upstream and downstream), any switch port can be assigned to a DisplayNet™ transmitter or receiver unit. I/O arrays of virtually any size are possible by proper selection of the central 10GbE switch. The embedded intelligence in all DisplayNet™ endpoints enables units to be hot-plugged and recognized by the system within a few seconds. This feature allows systems to be easily reconfigured and/or expanded in the field without the need for extensive programming. Thanks to its extensive features and versatility, DisplayNet™ renders traditional AV matrix switchers obsolete and is the ideal solution for small, medium, large and massive AV signal distribution systems.



Video Wall Operation

DisplayNet™ supports concurrent matrix switcher and video wall operation within the same system. In Video Wall mode, a single source may be displayed across multiple screens or projectors. An HDMI signal from a single DisplayNet™ transmitter unit is sent to an array of DisplayNet™ receivers, with each driving a single video wall screen or projector. The DisplayNet™ receivers do not perform any scaling. Instead each receiver is assigned a segment of the video source based on how the wall is configured. The result is that multiple screens are effectively combined to achieve a single large-scale display. The DisplayNet Manager™ software includes a video wall configuration tool that can be used to create, save, and use a virtually unlimited number of wall configurations.

By concurrently supporting both matrix switching and video wall capabilities in the same system, DisplayNet™ provides two valuable display solutions in one, scalable product. This unique capability gives system integrators the power to go beyond the limits of traditional AV distribution products.



System Management and Control

DisplayNet Server™

DisplayNet™ systems consist of multiple transmitter and receiver endpoints, a 10GbE network switch and a DisplayNet Server™, which provides the interface layer required to control and manage the entire system. Using DisplayNet Server™ (p.n. DNS-100), systems can be managed using a number of control methods, which enables the technology to be seamless integrated into a variety of workflows. DisplayNet Server™ provides a central interface between the control equipment/software and the DisplayNet™ endpoint devices; therefore, it should be included with every DisplayNet™ system.

DisplayNet Manager™

DisplayNet Manager™ is a Windows-based software application that controls and configures DisplayNet™ endpoint devices, Video Walls and overall systems. It provides a host powerful control features, as well as tools to facilitate the use of third party controllers that enable DisplayNet™ to be easily integrated into a wide range of professional AV applications. DisplayNet Manager™ makes the system integration process easier, faster and more efficient.

DisplayNet™ API Command Set

While DisplayNet Manager™ provides a graphically intuitive method of controlling DisplayNet™ systems, it is possible to use the DisplayNet™ API Command Set to interface directly with third party controllers. For instance, DisplayNet™ API commands may be loaded into a third party controller device and issued via Telnet to the DisplayNet Server™, which then distributes the commands to the overall DisplayNet™ system and endpoints. This approach allows DisplayNet™ systems to easily be integrated into existing control systems and workflows.
