Passholder Pro leThe Year of a Million Dreams is coming—and Barbara Schultz’s family can’t wait!

is October, e Year of a Million Dreams gets under way at Disney Parks in California and Florida. is fi rst-of-its-kind event celebrates our Guests’ dreams and the role our Cast Members play as dream makers.

To get a Passholder perspective on this exciting event, we asked longtime AP Barbara Schultz, along with her daughter Cindy, granddaughter Stacey and great-granddaughter Scarlett—all Annual Passholders—to share with us their thoughts on e Year of a Million Dreams Celebration, as well as some of their most special memories of e Happiest Place on Earth.

Backstage Pass: You bought your fi rst Annual Passport in 1983?

Barbara: “Yes, as soon as they came out—the very fi rst year!”

BP: What was that fi rst Annual Passport like?

Barbara: “Well it was over at the Guest

Relations window and you went into a little room and they took a picture of you in color, a little photograph. And then they cut it out and put it onto the Pass. It was very attractive. ere were no computers. You had a number written down. And they wrote your number every time you went through the turnstiles.”

BP: Wow! Twenty-three years as a Passholder! So, you must’ve seen a lot of changes over the years. What would you say is the one thing that keeps you coming back?

Barbara: “My brother—he says “you can smell it.” You come in and you go “Mmm…this is Disneyland®! is is Disneyland®!” e cleanliness of it. And the attitude of all the happy people. e Cast Members are wonderful, just wonderful.”

BP: Cindy, you’ve also been a Passholder for many years. Why do you keep coming back?

Cindy: “I guess it’s because it’s such a happy place to go. You forget about your problems when you go in. It’s just such a happy atmosphere, a happy place and lots of memories. And the people there are so nice.

BP: Barbara, we heard your answering machine at home has a touch of Disney magic with a special song. What is it?

Barbara: “It’s my favorite, favorite one, Jiminy Cricket’s “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

BP: What’s the story behind choosing that song?

Barbara: “I guess because I kind of think it’s true. If you wish long enough, your dreams come true. And, my brother had a connection with Ward Kimball. Ward Kimball was the originator of Jiminy Cricket, so that made me a little more interested in having that.”

BP: We were amazed to discover that you have four generations of Annual Passholders in your family. What are some of the family traditions you share when you visit?

Barbara: “We love the parades. We see them over and over and over. And the fi reworks!”

Clockwise from left: Mom, Barbara; Daughter, Cindy; Granddaughter, Stacey; and Great-Granddaughter, Scarlett.

BP: Is there something that you have to do every time you visit?

Cindy: “You know what? It sounds really crazy, but you know what attraction I like? e Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. And I know that sounds crazy! It just brings out the youthfulness in me. And I like Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. I have to go on those two every time I come.”

BP: Do you have a favorite character that you visit or wish you could be?

Cindy: “Snow White. She’s probably my favorite. I love that story. And Tinker Bell. And Winnie the Pooh. So I guess we’re all a kid at heart!”

Barbara: “Mickey Mouse is my favorite. In fact, I had a Mickey Mouse room in my home for many years.”

BP: Scarlett, we notice you’re wearing a Tinker Bell T-shirt. Is she your favorite character?

Scarlett: “Mmm-huh.”

BP: Why?

Scarlett: “She fl ies.”

BP: Do you want to fl y?

Scarlett (giggling): “No!”

BP: As you think back over the years, is there a favorite

memory that springs to mind?

Stacey: “When my son rode Dumbo the Flying

Elephant with Cinderella.”

BP: So, Cinderella actually rode with him on the attraction?

Stacey: “Yes. It was one of those moments where I, of course, didn’t have my camera and I would just love to see that again. It was just one of those moments that was so cute! He loved getting that attention!”

BP: A little earlier, we showed you a short video that captures the essence of e Year of a Million Dreams. So, do you think the Disneyland® Resort is the place where dreams come true?

Barbara (Referring to a scene in the video where a Cast Member explains what it means to her to see the children coming into the Parks in the morning and granting their dreams): “I feel like I have dreams come true too. ere is no age barrier. I thought ‘But, I want my dreams to come true too!’”

BP: What inspired you most in what you saw?

Cindy: “Everybody looks so happy. So up and positive and happy.”

Barbara: “And all ages…there were older people and younger people. at one lady had tears in her eyes. I did too! I mean, as you get older you realize how wonderful everything is in life.”

BP: ank you so much for your time today. Before you go, can each of you sum up for us in one word what dreams come true for you when you visit the Disneyland® Resort?

Barbara: “Family. Families are so spread out nowadays. Families together.”

Cindy: “Happiness.”

Stacey: “Carefree…and fun.”

BP: And how about you, Scarlett?

Scarlett: “Mickey Mouse!”

THE END IS NEARFive decades of dining come to a “Goofy” conclusion!

In May 1998, the “new” Tomorrowland invited Guests to enjoy “space-age dining” at Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port. According to intergalactic legend, Redd Rockett was a space pilot who searched the planets for the most delicious pizza in the universe. Not fi nding any to his liking, he decided to open up his own “pizza port.” His restaurant now sits on the launching pad of the former Mission to Mars attraction.

Showcasing Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port, the fi nal pin in the Annual Passholder “Five Decades of Disney Dining” series will be released on Sunday, September 17, 2006.

Featuring “Spaceman” Goofy and box artwork from the 1955 Disneyland® guidebook, this special collectors’ pin will be provided with each single food purchase of $30 (before

tax and after any applicable discount), at the participating locations below. Just present your valid Annual Passport at time of purchase to receive the pin.*Park and Resort Hotel dining locations include: Plaza Inn, Carnation Cafe, Rancho del Zocalo, and Blue Bayou at Disneyland® Park; Ariel’s Grotto, Paci c Wharf Café, Pizza Oom-Mow-Mow, plus the Vineyard Room and Wine Country Trattoria at the Golden Vine Winery at Disney’s California Adventure® Park; Disney’s PCH Grill at Disney’s Paradise Pier® Hotel; Goofy’s Kitchen, Hook’s Pointe and Granville’s Steak House at the Disneyland® Hotel; Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa.* We regret that pins are in very limited supply, are subject to availability, and may deplete quickly due to their popularity.
