Select a location as close to the sink aspossible for ready access to water and drainlines. Most of the installation work is done beforethe dishwasher is moved into place.
Any built-in dishwasher must be fullyenclosed on the top, both sides and back. Therefore the cabinet space below yourcounter is probably the best location.

PLUMBING PREPARATION
1. In order to reduce running time, Bosch recommends 140° F water inlettemperature. Your dishwasher will perform equally as well at 120° F watertemperature, but the run time will be extended.
Hot Water Supply• The hot water line to the dishwasher
must provide between 5 - 120 psi (0.3-8.27 bars) water pressure.
• The hot water heater should be set todeliver 140°F (60°C) watertemperature to the dishwasher.¹
• A 3/8” minimum O.D. copper tubinginlet line is recommended.
• All solder connections must be madebefore water line is connected to thedishwasher’s inlet water valve. Do notsolder within 6 inches (152.4 mm)of the dishwasher’s inlet watervalve.
• Drill a 1” (25.4 mm) diameter accesshole in the cabinet for the water supplyline (Figure 9A).
• Run the line to the approximate fillvalve location, as shown in Figure 9A.
It is recommended that a shut-off valve (notsupplied) be installed in the hot watersupply line in a readily accessible location, see Figure 9.
NOTE: If connection to an air gap isrequired by local code, air gap kits areavailable from local plumbing sources.Install the air gap according to themanufacturer’s instructions.
Drain HoseThe dishwasher comes with a seven (7)foot drain hose.• A 1.25” access hole must be made to
allow the drain hose to be run to thedrain connection location.
Figure 7
IMPORTANTIf no air gap is used and the drainline is run into a sink or disposer, the drain line must be elevated toa point higher than the highestwater level of the sink to preventback siphoning into thedishwasher.
THESE INSTALLATIONINSTRUCTIONS ARE

CAUTIONTo protect against possible rupture ofthe fill valve, water lines leading tothe dishwasher, as well as water linesin the dishwasher MUST be protectedagainst freezing. If the valve or waterline freezes, flooding may occur. Suchruptures are not covered by thewarranty.

ELECTRICAL PREPARATION
• Cut a 1” (25.4mm) diameter hole in thecabinet (in area of Figure 9 B). For woodcabinets, sand the hole until smooth. For metal cabinets, cover the edge witha grommet.
• Run flexible cable (as codes permit) fromjunction through hole in cabinet. Cableshould extend 30” (762 mm) from backwall.

The customer has the responsibility toensure that the dishwasher installation isin compliance with all national and localelectrical codes and ordinances. Thedishwasher shall be installed by a qualifiedelectrician and properly grounded. Theelectrical supply for which the dishwasheris designed is 120V, 60 Hz, AC, connectedto a dishwasher-dedicated electrical circuitwith a fuse or breaker rated for 15 amps.If the dishwasher is connected with a fooddisposer, a 20 amp (and no higher) fuse orcircuitbreaker may be used. No otherappliances or outlets should be connectedto the dishwasher supply circuit. Electricalsupply conductors shall be copper only andshall be minimum #16 AWG. Wireconnectors proper for the size and numberof wires used to connect the dishwasherto the supply circuit shall be used. Do notuse all-plastic wire connectors. Strip powersupply wires approximately ½ inch. Do notpre-twist wire before applying wireconnector. After installing wire connectors, gently tug wires to check the integrity ofthe connector. Place all wires andconnectors into the power supply box,and reinstall cover with the screw providedin the installation package.

PLACING THE DISHWASHER
Placing the DishwasherThe profile strips on the sides of thedishwasher allow the dishwasher to fit intoa cabinet opening with a width of 23-5/8”(600 mm) to 24-1/8” (613 mm). Beforesliding the dishwasher into the cabinetopening:
• Straighten the hot water supply line andthe electrical cable (see Figure 11).
• Level & Align (initial adjustments).• Guide the drain hose carefully (avoiding
kinks in hose) as the dishwasher is slidinto the cabinet opening.
• Make final leveling adjustments (seeFINAL STEPS Section).
• To maintain the dishwasher position andalignment, first determine which typeof mounting your dishwasher needs:
Top Mount is used for all types ofcountertops that will not be damagedby drilling.• For a top mount, position the
brackets flat on each of the topcorners of the dishwasher asshown in Figure 10A.
Side Mount is used when there is agranite, marble or other hard naturalsurface counter top that could bedamaged by drilling.• For a side mount, bend the
brackets, then position them asshown in Figure 10B.
• Drive Mounting Screws (see Figure 3)through the holes in the brackets. SeeFigure 10A or 10B.
• Connect the drain hose, hot watersupply line and electrical connectionsas described in the following sections.
IMPORTANTIf you wish to change the front panel ofthe dishwasher this must be done beforesliding the dishwasher into place.
*Note: Additional accessory door pa-nels can not be used with SHU 9900models.

• Make sure there are no sharp bends orkinks in the water line which mightrestrict water flow.
• When connecting threaded pipe use pipethread compound or Teflon tape to sealthe connection.
• Before connecting the copper hot watersupply line to the dishwasher, it shouldbe flushed with hot water to clear anyforeign material.
• Apply Teflon tape or other pipe sealantto 90° elbow fitting and connectdirectly to water inlet valve*.

If you have an SHI model, an integrated model, you will have additional mountinghardware and a folded template sheet with installation instructions comprised ofpictograms. In North America the stainless steel models of the integrated series (SHIseries), have a control panel that is 5-5/16” (135 mm) tall. The stainless steel modelcomes with two extension pieces, referred to as the standard and long extension piecein Table 2: the standard piece is used for drawer heights up to 6” (152mm); the longextension piece is used for drawer heights greater than 6” (152mm) but 6-7/16” (164mm)or less. These stainless steel extension pieces are not installed in the control panel. Inthe stainless steel models, the two extension pieces are shipped loose and must beinserted as shown in pictogram 5 on the template sheet.
The purpose of the extension piece is to allow the increase of the control panel height totry to match the horizontal drawer line of the cabinets. If your drawers are taller than the“C” dimension shown on Table 2, it is recommended that the extension either be slid inas far as it will go, or removed and the door made to fit directly below the control panel.
Panel Installation, SHI Models
If you have an SHV model, a fully integrated model, you will have additional mountinghardware and a folded template sheet with installation instructions comprised ofpictograms.
Refer to the folded template sheet for information on how to mount the panel. Pleasenote that one side of the template shows how to mount a one piece panel and the otherside of the template shows how to mount a two piece panel. Be sure of what typeinstallation you want before proceeding with the installation.
Refer to Figure 20 and Table 3 for guidelines on custom door panel selections.
After deciding if the extension pieces will be used or not refer to the pictograms printedon the template for proper method of mounting your custom door.
Panel Installation, SHV Models
If you have an SHU model and have ordered an accessory panel kit it must be installedprior to sliding the dishwasher into place. Dimensions of panel size that may be used isshown in Figure 19.
