The history of coffee comes from the seed of an evergreen plant belonging to the family Rubiaceae, genus Coffea, which is named after the coffee, which grows in Asia end America, in the range between the tropics and there are two main strains: Coffea Arabica. The legends of the appearance of this extra-ordinary beverage are varied… but according to some historians, the Ethiopians were the first to spread the cultivation of the coffee tree, but the Arabs were the first to use the berries in the form of beverage. At first, found that the grains had harmful effects, they began to consume the whole fruit (which comes in the form of red berries like cherries) working with animal fat, and around 1000 AD, were boiled in water to obtain a beverage aroma. Around 1400, the coffee beans were used for therapeutic and healing as seen in several Arabic medical documents of the time. In the second half of 1500, in Costantinople, were opened the first “coffee” reserved characters distinct, and soon the “coffee” became a meeting place for diplomats, artists, writers, intellectuals. From there the leap to Europe was quick… the Venetians began to import the custom around 1600 and the first coffee shop was born in Venice around the middle of that century was so successful that about a hundred years later had become a couple hundred. Cafes began to rise like wildfire across Europe, the price of coffee began to fall and began to become a popular beverage. The cafes had now become the common meeting place and were frequented by artists and intellectuals, as well as the many varieties of coffee were newspapers available to customers… also became famous for this coffee in Hamburg. Around the discovery of the black drink therefore born several articles for the roasting of the beans roasting ma-chines… grinders to reduce dust grains in her… and finally… the coffee pot.
