Go to http://del.icio.us/ and make an account.

Install del.icio.us bookmarklets in your toolbar. Firefox: http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/extensionnew

Safari: http://del.icio.us/help/buttons

Optional: Import existing bookmarks. Firefox may offer to do this automatically. The manual method is:

Safari: File>Export Bookmarks>Save to your desktop. Next, in del.icio.us, go to Settings>Bookmarks>Import/Upload and select #2.

Make sure you are logged into your Google Account.

Visit www.google.com/reader.

In a separate window or tab, visit a site with an RSS feed. Try http://www.lighthouseschools.com/isummit or http://globalgreen.ning.com/.

To subscribe to a newsfeed, try one of the following methods:

In Safari, click on the blue RSS chicklet in your address window OR

In Firefox, click on the Live Bookmarks icon in your address window OR

Find a RSS feed, copy and paste it into the green Add Subscription box in Google Reader. Example: http://globalgreen.ning.com/activity/log/list?fmt=rss

Continue adding feeds in this manner. Click on the Settings link if you want to manage and customize Google Reader.
