The Zadar County abounds in diversity and rich natural and cultural attractions, while its location in the central part of the Adriatic, surrounded by several national parks, makes it a truly powerful tourist destination.

Among the numerous attractions of the Zadar County, the city of Zadar, with its historic core featuring the Church of St Donatus, Cathedral of St Anastasia and the Roman Forum, definitely represents a must-see destination. Modern attractions such as the urban installations Greetings to the Sun and Sea Organ on the Zadar boardwalk represent the new gathering points for many visitors. Other towns in the Zadar County also captivate with their charm and rich history – from the royal towns of Biograd na Moru and Nin, the town of Pag, built according to the plan of the renowned Juraj Dalmatinac, to Benkovac and Obrovac in the hinterland. Valuable cultural heritage can be found throughout the Zadar County – from archaeological localities and sacral objects to mediaeval buildings and museum collections.

The beautiful archipelago of Zadar is an attraction that is rich in hidden beauties, clean waters and pristine nature. Islands of assorted shapes and sizes, some inhabited and some uninhabited, are arranged in four rows that run parallel to the Dalmatian coast. This is the ideal place for all kinds of water sports, both on the sea surface and underwater, while sailors can find a safe haven for their boards among the 50 ports, marinas, berths and moorings located in the nautical paradise of its protected bays. Pag, Vir, Ugljan, Pašman, Dugi otok, Silba, Olib, Molat, Premuda, Ist and Iž are but few of the 200 islands, isles and islets that make up the Zadar archipelago, while the beauty of Telašćica Nature Park, located in the immediate vicinity of the magnificent Kornati Islands, is truly a wonder to behold.

General Information about Zadar Region

Page 6: Discover Zadar region

The array of tourist towns in the Zadar County located along the Adriatic coast attract visitors with their Dalmatian atmosphere and Mediterranean way of life that invites fun and relaxation, while the Zadar hinterland provides lovers of rural tourism with the unforgettable experience of staying in renovated rustic estates and enjoying homemade food and good wine. When it comes to its cuisine, Zadar County is a typical representative of Dalmatia and the Mediterranean – the healthiest cuisine in the world, which has also been included in UNESCO’s list of non-material heritage. Fish, wine and olive oil make up the Holy Trinity of Mediterranean cuisine. Cheese from Pag, Dalmatian prosciutto, ˝šokol˝ from Nin, salted sardines and anchovies, risottos and brodettos, the barbecue, the ˝peka˝ bell and the spit roast are some of the icons of the local cuisine, while lovers of good wine can enjoy the rich offer of wines or the renowned Maraschino, an original liquor from Zadar.

For day trippers, Zadar County offers the magnificent beauty of the nearby national parks of

Paklenica, Kornati and Plitvice Lakes, as well as the nature parks of Telašćica, Vrana Lake and Velebit, while lovers of active holidays can choose from a wide variety of activities: sailing, hiking and alpinism, trekking, rafting, kayaking, speleology, diving, birdwatching, cycling, hunting and fishing tourism, stand up paddling, kiting, kite-surfing, wind-surfing or bungee jumping.

Zadar County also hosts numerous events throughout the year. Sports competitions, folk events, klapa meetings, folklore festivals, fishermen’s parties, food festivals, flower exhibitions, concerts, theatre plays, film screenings, religious processions and many other kinds of events are all becoming a part of the tradition of this region.

As a souvenir of your stay in the diverse Zadar County, you can take home a bottle of Maraschino, lace from Pag, a replica of antique glass or some of the local delicacies that, with their taste and smell, evoke the feel of the Mediterranean.

In this manner, this region is enriched with new experiences that value all the advantages and resources offered by the area of the Zadar County. Zadar County is yet another part of the beautiful Croatian coast that abounds with such natural and cultural beauties that we would need to write thousands and thousands of pages to do them justice. Marked by tales from the days of long ago and decorated with a necklace of islands and a crown of mountaintops, and enriched with the flavours of the healthiest cuisine in the world (the Mediterranean diet, which has been included in UNESCO’s list of non-material heritage), it opens opportunities for developing nearly all types of tourism. The rich history and magnificent natural beauties, the flavours of the Mediterranean cuisine, the nautical heaven of fishing ships and the magic of the islands are all bound into one rich offer that provides for a wide array of possibilities: relaxation, active holidays and entertainment that connects all segments of the market and links them with modern trends. In order to value all the resources and advantages that represent key factors in creating original products, we may conclude that comprehensive and well-defined cooperation with tourist agencies is indispensable. Thanks to our cooperation with tourist agencies, Zadar County has become acknowledged and valued for all the richness and beauty that it offers, and in this manner has become fertile ground for the implementation of high-quality and original programmes that familiarise tourists with all the features of the region.

Yours sincerely,Mihaela Kadija, head of the Tourist Board of the Zadar County

On the Trail of Salt and Medicinal MudThe saltworks of Nin and Pag are an inseparable part of history because they were immensely important for the economic aspect of the region, but they also created a specific cultural landscape of unique vistas. The Nin Saltworks also contain a Museum of Salt, as well as excellent products, but they also represents a specific artificially-created swamp which has become the habitat for a variety of rare animals, birds in particular. The Pag Saltworks have through the Middle Ages and onwards represented the most significant source of income for the nobility and all others who came to rule this region. The warehouses constructed for storing salt on Pag are also a cultural landmark. The view of the Renaissance town of Pag and the magnificently fragmented Pag Island with its saltworks will forever remain in your memory.

One-day to three-day packages are available. An approximate program for a two-day package includes: Day 1: Nin - swimming in the lagoon; Day 2: Pag - saltworks and salt warehouses. The package is available during the entire year for groups of 10-50 people. Spring Waters of the Karst RegionWhen the Dalmatian karst is invaded by spring rains, nature begins to shine in all its strength. Vransko Lake is an ornithological nature reserve visited by thousands of birds, and some of them can be seen when walking the educational trail. The reserve has been added to the Ramsar List in 2013, which means it is additionally protected. The Karišnica and Bijela rivers exist only during the rainy period, while the stone mills next to the Franciscan monastery were the only place to mill grain in a wide area. Zrmanja River is also inviting to those who love rafting and kayaking. The Krupa River swells in the spring when the waterfalls around the medieval monastery show their true beauty. Along with nature awakening in the spring, the season of gastronomic delights also begins, offering delicacies such as asparagus, snails and lamb.

Three-day to five-day packages are available. An approximate program for a three-day package includes: Day 1: Biograd and Vransko Lake (Vrana); Day 2: Benkovac and Karin (Karišnica - Bijela); Day 3: Obrovac - Žegar - Krupa (Zrmanja, Krupa). Return to Nature and the Life of a Shepherd In spite of centuries of struggling against gale-force bora winds, summer heat and numerous conquerors, the island of Pag has managed to preserve its pristine natural environment and its ancestral way of life. If you wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and stress and work and bring back a sense of peace and relaxation into your life, come to Pag in autumn or spring to live the life of a shepherd. Cheese from Pag is a delicacy that is known far and wide. The production of sheep milk, cheese and meat was started by the Liburnians more than 11000 years ago, and has been preserved up to today. Sheep live on small pastures enclosed with drywalls and graze on aromatic plants, and are visited by their shepherds every day. Become one of them yourself! Together with a shepherd from Pag, you’ll be bringing the sheep food and water, returning stones that have fallen out of the drywalls, petting lambs and giving them pet names, attempting to milk sheep, participating the production of cheese and enjoying the tastes of Pag. We recommend you turn your mobile phone off!

Packages can be organised for a length for seven or more days. The programme outline for a seven-day package encompasses: Day 1 - Day 7: activities related to care for sheep on the island and town of Pag and surrounding areas. The package can be realised in the period between February and late June (lambing lasts until May, and milking begins in mid-April) for individuals or groups between 2 and 50. Three-star private accommodation is available, while transport on the island is possible with own transport or with a van or bus organised by us. Expert-guided tours can be organised in Croatian, English, Italian, German or Russian. All the information provided above represents a non-binding draft version, so feel free to contact us regarding the creation of a final offer. Photography: V.Karavanić

The Sound of Beautiful Waterfallsin the Dalmatian Hinterland

Page 19: Discover Zadar region

Starting at the southern side of the Pag Bridge and the Venetian fort of Fortica, the island of Pag stretches 60 kilometres in length. Many first-time visitors are frightened by its barren appearance which is often compared to the surface of the Moon. However, on the first tour of the island, passing through several villages, this experience changes because on the one hand you are enjoying the view of the blue sea, while on the other you are amazed at the sparse vegetation which manages to emerge in the hilly landscape. The diversity of this long island is contributed to by the ornithological reserve of Velo Blato and Malo Blato, not far from the village of Povljana, and you will gasp at the sight of thousand-year old olive groves of Lun which defy the harsh weather on the northern side of the island. It is estimated that there are trees over 1500 years old here and if you listen carefully to the breeze in their branches you just might hear ancient stories, good and bad, of events which happened in this area. But, what never changes is temper of local people who will selflessly welcome you and reveal their kind hearts.

Two-day and three-day packages are available. An approximate program for a three-day package includes: Day 1: visit of the ornithological reserves of Velo Blato and Malo Blato, tour of the town of Pag, lunch/dinner at the Prtorić Farm; Day 2: boat tour of the Pag Cove, visit to a cheesemaker’s in Kolan; Day 3: ride to Lun and walking tour of olive groves, sightseeing in the town of Novalja, visit to Zrće Beach, dinner at Prtorić Farm. The package is available from April until October (or during the entire year) for groups of 10-25 people. Accommodation is in private apartments or hotels, while transport is by bus or minibus. Feel the Bora of PagMost tourist spots boast sunny weather and warm days. We offer you something different. The Bora winds which sometimes reach over 200 km/h are a challenge for the local population, as well as visitors. Apart from the pure healing air (especially beneficial for asthma), the Pag Bora is specific for the salt it brings. Namely, when it “descends” from Velebit in “plunges” into the sea and waves rise up to wash to sea onto the surface of the island. Everything is covered in salt after a Bora, but this has its benefits for raising sheep that graze on the sparse vegetation which is very salty, so it is said that their meat is salty from the inside. Bora also brings a feeling of cold even though the temperatures never reach below zero. March is the most violent month; the three so-called “March Bora’s” blow then. Measure the speed of the wind and then warm yourself while enjoying the culinary delicacies of this region.

One-day to three-day packages are available. An approximate program for a two-day package includes: Day 1: tour of the areas with the strongest Bora with the opportunity to measure it using special devices; Day 2: visit to a farm. The package is available around winter (best in February, March or April), or during the entire year for groups of 5-20 people. Accommodation is in private apartments or hotels, while transport is by bus or car. Expert guides are available in English, German, Italian and Croatian (also other languages by request). Relax with Pag LaceYou must have heard of Pag lace. It is so beautiful and unique that people who own it often frame it like a painting. This is no wonder if you know how this amazing decoration is made and how many threads and how much time is needed to see the results. It is interesting to note that one’s hands must always be clean when you’re making it. Today it is believed that making lace is a relaxing activity. Pag “nane” (grandmothers) dedicated their entire lives to making it, but only in order to feed their families. Every year the town of Pag holds the Festival of Pag Lace. In order to mark this event we organize lacemaking workshops in May and June. All you need is some free time, a small and firm pillow, a needle, some thread... and a lot of goodwill.

Seven-day packages are available. An approximate program for a seven-day package includes: Day 1: getting to know the history of lacemaking in Croatia and the history of Pag lace; Day 2-7: workshop. The package is available between May and June (or during the entire year) for groups of 5-15 people. Accommodation is in private apartments or hotels, while transport is by bus or car. Maraschino - Create Your Own Souvenir Maraschino is an original liquor from Zadar that is acclaimed worldwide. It distinguishes itself with its characteristically sweet flavour and aromatic fragrance. It is prepared according to the traditional recipe of a pharmacist from a Dominican monastery in the early 16th century. This concoction derived from an autochthonous variety of Marasca sour cherry is deservedly described as the ˝king of liquors˝. The drink was accepted and much loved at all the courts of Europe, and it was Napoleon’s favourite liquor. The traditionally woven bottle of Maraschino has been declared as an authentic Croatian souvenir. Taste Maraschino and participate in the bottle weaving workshop. Create your own souvenir and take it home with you to remember the rich history of this beloved liquor from Zadar.

Packages can be organised for a length between three and five days. The programme outline for a three-day package encompasses: Day 1: arrival and tour of Zadar; Day 2: bottle weaving workshop; Day 3: bottle weaving workshop and departure. The package can be during the entire year for a minimum of two persons. Accommodation in 3-star, 4-star and 5-star hotels and 3- or 4-star private accommodation is available, while transport with our own vans (VIP transport also available) is offered. Salt is often referred to as white gold, thus it is not unusual that it was often used as a method of payment. The traditional way of making salt in a naturally and ecologically friendly way is through the use of solar and wind power. Seawater is evaporated in spacious evaporation ponds, upon which the salt is purified and stored. This tradition is still cultivated in Pag and Nin. The clean environment, specific climate with many sunshine hours and favourable winds, together with an exceptional geographical position, provide for supreme world-class quality. If you want to experience the traditional way of manufacturing salt, or if you’re interested in souvenirs made from salt or would like to try ˝harvesting˝ salt, come with us to Nin and Pag, where the tradition of saltmaking has been present since ancient times. You will witness how the flora and fauna can live in a symbiosis with man, and you will also be able to find out why the salt flower is the flower of health.

See, Hear, Meet and Experience Zadar It is said that ˝when in Rome, do as the Romans do˝. In Zadar, we apply the same rule! Meet Zadar, a city with a rich history of more than 3000 years, through the eyes of the locals. Who are the ˝barkarijoli˝ of Zadar, and what is the significance of the numbers three, four and five? These are but few of the questions that we will find an answer to together. On this journey, we will be taking you off the beaten path. We will invite you to climb on to the bell tower of the Cathedral to enjoy the best view of the city. On the boardwalk of Zadar, you will experience the most beautiful sunset ever, accompanied by the unique sounds of the Sea Organ that always plays as the sea tells it to – and the sea is a conductor that never repeats itself. In order to satisfy all of your senses, don’t forget to try some Maraschino, an original liquor made from an autochthonous variety of Marasca sour cherry. Let your visit to Zadar be a pleasure for all your senses!

Zadar has its own Greetings to the Sun, a unique lightshow attraction for the darker part of the day, which becomes an excellent location for practicing Yoga in the morning. Awaken your mind and body with the aromatherapeutic fragrance of the sea and a light breeze. Zadar hides many more spots ideal for such activities. One of them is atop a rocky coast where man and nature can connect in the best possible way. In order to make the exercise even more fulfilling, we chose as the next location Paklenica National Park, in whose cliff-side shade you can relax your body and breathe in fresh mountain air. Row into the SunsetDugi otok abounds with numerous bays that are ideal for kayaking - an increasingly popular way of spending your holidays or getting to know a new destination. The bays of Dugi otok and the area around the Veli Rat lighthouse definitely pose a challenge to all true kayakers! Telašćica Bay is one of the safest natural harbours on the Adriatic, and therefore one of the potentially most scenic kayaking destinations. The bay itself is protected from winds and waves and, since it is a part of Telašćica Nature Park, boat speed is also limited, which contributes to the safety of the entire area. The turquoise colour of the water, the view of the open sea, the sandy coast with pebbles that provide a good foot massage, the forest...considering all these perks and the breathtaking natural environment, kayaking truly represents the perfect way of exploring the bay in a unique way.

Packages can be organised for a length between three and five days. The programme outline for a five-day package encompasses: Day 1: arrival and accommodation, getting acquainted with the island and kayaking routes; Day 2: kayaking along the northern part of the island - within the zone of the Veli Rat lighthouse; Day 3: kayaking along the southern part of the island within the zone of Telašćica Nature Park and Kornati Islands; Day 4: visit to the Strašna Peć (˝cave of horrors˝ ) cave; Day 5: departure (the package can be extended and adapted on request). The package can be realised in the period between 01 April and 15 June and between 1 September and 15 October for groups between 15 and 50. Accommodation in 2-star, 3-star and 4-star hotels is available, and transport by bus is offered. Expert-guided tours can be organised in Croatian or English, or in other languages upon request. Olympic Triathlon on the Longest Island Dugi otok (˝long island˝ ) is, as its name suggests, the longest island of the Zadar archipelago and offers everything that is needed for organising a triathlon: a long road and the sea. The legs of an Olympic triathlon comprise 1500 metres of swimming, 40 kilometres of cycling and 10 kilometres of running. Some sources mention that the first triathlon competitions were recorded around 1920 in France. The magazine ̋ L’Auto˝ reported on a race that consisted of 3 km of running, 12 km of cycling and swimming across the Marne channel. Considering the variety of disciplines that constitute a triathlon, it must have been exciting to participate in one even then. However, swimming at the sandy beach of Sakarun, cycling along the length of the breathtaking island of Dugi otok (from Sakarun to Telašćica Nature Park) and continuing with running through the park takes the power of the entire experience to a whole new level, while also stimulating our motivation to be even faster and better.

Packages can be organised for a length between three and seven days. The programme outline for a five-day package encompasses: Day 1: arrival and accommodation; Day 2: tour of the island, draw of start numbers, welcome dinner; Day 3: Olympic triathlon, awards ceremony and presentation of medals after the race; Day 4: boat tour of the Kornati Islands for the competitors; Day 5: departure (the package can be extended and adapted on request). The package can be realised in the period between 01 April and 15 June and between 01 September and 15 October for groups between 15 and 50. Secret of the MountainsSince ancient times everyone who knew the Velebit Mountain regarded it with awe, wonder and respect. It is no coincidence that one of the first literary works in Croatia was dedicated to Velebit. Perhaps the writer Petar Zoranić (1508-1569) found the inspiration to write the first Croatian novel, “Mountain”, in the village of Zagon, which is now only a couple of stone houses merging together with the karst and sparse vegetation. Perhaps some lost shepherd took shelter in Manita Peć Cave and patiently waited for the Paklenica storms to subside. Come join us in wandering the unbeaten paths of Velebit in order to discover the true nature of the mountain, the miraculous movement of rocks frozen in their stillness, the celebrated highlands and stern cliffs. The mysterious Velebit will hold out its hand and guide you through its gorges and offer you beautiful views and unforgettable experiences.

Three-day to four-day packages are available. An approximate program for a three-day package includes: Day 1: Zadar - Zagon; Day 2: Zagon - Stap/Rujno - Zagon; Day 3: Zagon - Manita Peć Cave. The package is available from April until November. Accommodation is in three-star and four-star hotels and apartments. Alternative accommodation can be provided in mountain lodges. The program is guided by expert guides in English or Croatian (also other languages by request). All listed information is estimated and non-binding so please contact us to finalize the offer. All the Secrets of the Underwater World of Dugi otok

Just like with any other Adriatic island, the underwater world around Dugi otok teems with underwater life. Exploring the depths of the sea has always posed a challenge to the abilities of mankind, while diving is a unique experience that takes us back to our very beginnings, to the days when we were still swimming in our mother’s amniotic fluid. When we’re underwater, sounds are different, deeper. The light that reaches us looks like stardust from a magic wand. We are weightless. Our movements are lighter, softer. Once our professional divers take you to the magnificent underwater world of one of the best diving destinations in the central Adriatic and show you the hidden treasures located around the islet of Mežanj or the underwater cave of Brbinjšćica, you will immediately get hooked on the exhilaration of being underwater. And you’re bound to return to again be at one with the sun, the underwater world and yourself.

Packages can be organised for a length between three and six days. The programme outline for a six-day package encompasses: Day 1: arrival and accommodation; Day 2: diving at locations in the northern part of Dugi otok ; Day 3: diving at locations in the southern part of Dugi otok; Day 4: visit to the underwater cave of Brbinjšćica; Day 5: boat trip to a location near Dugi otok (Kornati Islands or Iž); Day 6: departure. The package can be realised in the period between 1 April and 15 June and between 01 September and 15 October for groups between 15 and 50. Traces of the PastMention Dugi otok, and most will first think of its countless natural beauties that are different with every new day – for the sun doesn’t always set at the same time, the clouds in the sky are never the same and the sea sparkles in thousands of hues. However, Dugi otok also offers richness of another sort – one that has remained unchanged for centuries, and which precisely with this continuity offers an experience that we citizens of the modern world find unique. Dugi otok has become a true archaeological treasure trove, as we can find a number of accessible localities dating between 10000 BC to the 19th century AD on the island. What is less known is that the bay of Telašćica is, according to a document from the 10thcentury, the first place where the practice of fishing has been recorded. Most of the archaeological localities are located within Telašćica Nature Park, but let’s not forget about those that are located outside its boundaries. Explore the ˝permanent exhibits˝ offered by this region and let your experiences of the island help you dive into history.

Packages can be organised for a length between five and seven days. The programme outline for a six-day package encompasses: Day 1: arrival and accommodation; Day 2: tour of localities in the northern part of the island; Day 3: tour of the southern part of the island; Day 4: visit to the cave of ˝Strašna peć˝ ( ˝cave of horrors˝ ) and the locality where Šime, the oldest Dalmatian, was found; Day 5: boat trip to a location near Dugi otok (Kornati Islands or Iž); Day 6: departure. The package can be realised in the period between 1 April and 15 June and between 01 September and 15 October for groups between 15 and 50. Sail into the PastCroatia has long been known for its numerous islands, but do you know what kind of wealth they hide? We will help you discover the less-known, but incredibly interesting facts about the islands of Zadar. Ugljan is called the “island of olives and oil”. This is not unusual since we know that Romans had an agricultural complex in Muline with a large number of olive trees. The Muline Press was discovered there and it could process a large number of olives. Dugi Otok Island has a lighthouse on Veli Rat which is 42 meters high, the highest in the Adriatic. The island of Mana on Kornati was the filming location for “As the Sea Rages” (1959). We could mention many more examples because the Zadar archipelago has over 100 islands which we will sail by while guiding you through their stories.

Six-day packages are available. An approximate program for a six-day package includes: Day 1: Zadar - Muline; Day 2: Muline - Božava; Day 3: Božava - Veli Rat / Sakarun; Day 4: Veli Rat - Mana - Kornat; Day 5: Kornat - Žut; Day 6: Žut - Zadar. Discovery with a Painter’s Brush in Your HandSometimes the greatest gift that can be given to a tourist is an unexpected beautiful sunset, whitecap waves of a rough sea, or just seeing the contrast of colour between pine forests, the blue sea and white seaside rocks. It makes you stand breathless and motionless, as if the slightest shift could scare away the cloud, the sunbeam or the wind in the branches. Such gifts can make us all happy, especially in Zadar and its surroundings, which offer an endless array of intangible heritage and perplexing nature, as well as warm and layered colours which beg to be immortalized on the canvas. Every island and every cove offers their grandeur to those who accept the challenge. Join us in this painting adventure and become conquerors with brushes in your hands.

Pašman Island – a Miniature RhapsodyIf you want to get to know Dalmatia, all the charms of its islands and depths of the soul of the local island population, to merge with the rhapsody of history and culture which surrounds us while we are ignorant of its importance, the island of Pašman is the ideal place. Pašman is the second-largest island of the area around Zadar, with Tkon as its main settlement. The town of Tkon is mentioned already in 960 AD under the name of Katun. Even the Byzantine emperor Constantin Porfirogenet mentions Tkon in his work “De Administrando imperio”, written in 1067 AD. We can take you to an environment of pristine nature, salt, stone and aromatic medicinal herbs. There are also drystone walls which are enwoven in the history of the labour of the fishermen and farmers who built them. Enjoy the vistas of the open sea, the Pašman Channel, the islands of Žut and Sit from island peaks. You can also explore numerous forts, castles, religious sites and stone houses and sheepfolds.

One-day to three-day tours are available. An approximate program for a three-day package includes: Day 1: arrival and tour of Pustograd; Day 2: tour of the lower side of the island; Day 3: tour of the historical attractions of the main settlement of Tkon. The Zadar Archipelago is a special place in the Adriatic, made out of around 300 islands, most of which are uninhabited. If there is a place anywhere where you can find peace or your own cove, this is it. We will begin our journey in Zadar and sail towards the islands of Rivanj and Ugljan. We will also visit the islands of Škarda, Ist and Dugi Otok, which has the highest lighthouse in the Adriatic. Apart from astonishing natural beauty, one of the specificities of this area is a sunken ship which is so close to the surface that it can be explored without special diving equipment. The turquoise sea of Sakarun Beach will make you long for a swim. You will observe and visit the true pearls of the Adriatic: a natural Salt Lake, Nature Reserve Telašćica and Kornati National Park, making stops in striking spots chosen by your captain. Give in to the fragrance of the sea and the light breeze while you enjoy the unique beauty of the Zadar Archipelago.

Four-day packages are available. An approximate program for a four-day package includes: Day 1: Zadar - Ugljan - Rivanj - Škarda - Ist; Day 2: Molat - Lagnići - Sakarun - Veli Rat - Božava; Day 3: Rava - Telašćica; Day 4: Kornati National Park. The package is available from May to October (or during the entire year, based on the weather, and with certain changes) for groups of 2-8 people. Secrets of Olive GrovesThe island closest to Zadar is the green island of Ugljan, covered in ancient olive trees and pines, and apart from enjoying the beautiful landscape, pleasant air and fragrance of the sea, you can experience something special by visiting the ancient oil press in Muline. Here you will be given an opportunity to learn about the tradition of growing olives and producing olive oil. A little bit further, in Preko, is an organic olive grove and oil-making plant, a perfect place for sampling Dalmatian cuisine. A visit to the olive groves of the Zadar hinterland will show you that oil production is not limited to Croatian islands, but also thrives in the poor Dalmatian soil which sustains over 12.000 olive trees. Here you can regain your energy with the help of homemade prosciutto, cheese, wine and olive oil. One final treat is a visit to the olive grove of Lun, whose olive trees are among the oldest and most beautiful in the world, and will certainly leave you breathless.

One-day to three-day packages are available. An approximate program for a three-day package includes: Day 1: visit to the island of Ugljan and olive groves of Muline and Preko; Day 2: tour of Ravni Kotari and visit to an olive grove; Day 3: visit to the olive groves of Lun. The package is available from April to December (or during the entire year with certain adjustments) for groups of 2-40 people. Accommodation is in three-star or four-star hotels and private apartments, while transport is organized by us in ferries and buses. Find Me If You Can35 years ago, the appearance of the European blind snake was recorded for the first time in Croatia. This was both the first and last time that this strictly protected species of snake (Typhlops vermicularis) was seen. The sighting occurred on Dugi otok in 1977, and the proof of it is held by the Vienna Natural History Museum (NMW 35897). What is curious is that the northernmost area where the European blind snake lives is located 360 km away from Dugi otok (Lake Skadar in Montenegro). As nobody has seen this species since, it is believed that Austrian researchers had mixed up the samples and made an error in their notes. However, according to some oral sources, this snake can still be found on Dugi otok. He who manages to find it wins a prize!

Packages can be organised for a length between three and seven days. The programme outline for a six-day package encompasses: Day 1: arrival and accommodation; Day 2: getting acquainted with the island and the area where the competition will be held; Day 3: the search for the European blind snake, dinner for the contestants (with awards ceremony); Day 4: tour of the northern part of the island or a visit to the cave ˝Strašna peć˝ (˝cave of horrors˝ ); Day 5: boat trip to the Kornati Islands or Iž; Day 6: departure. The package can be realised in the period between 01 April and 15 June for groups between 15 and 50. Accommodation in 2-star, 3-star and 4-star hotels is available, and transport by bus is offered. Expert-guided tours can be organised in Croatian or English, or in other languages upon request. Following the Trail of the Croatian-Hungarian Kingdom

Croatia and Hungary were joined together in a single country for 900 years, and here you can get to know the place where the Hungarian King Coloman was crowned as Croatian King in 1102 AD. In Zadar, the city which Coloman visited three years later, you can tour the monastery of the Benedictine Sisters, to which he gave many gifts, while in a bell tower which he also ordered to be built you can see an inscription with his name and dedication. The Church of Saint Simon in Zadar holds a golden chest which Elizabeth Kotromanić, the wife of King Louis I of Anjou and Hungarian-Croatian-Polish Queen, had built in the memory of the Treaty of Zadar with the Venetian Republic, which was signed in the Monastery of Saint Francis. Elizabeth was kept prisoner along with her daughter Maria at the Novigrad Fort, and was later executed at the same location. She was buried in the Church of Saint Simon in Zadar, but her remains were later transferred to Székesfehérvár in Hungary. Get a feeling of the common history of the two peoples and witness the memorials which remind us of it.

Three-day to five-day packages are available. An approximate program for a three-day package includes: Day 1: Biograd and Vransko Lake (Vrana); Day 2: Zadar and the Monastery of Saint Mary; Day 3: Novigrad and its fort. Come to the Pag CarnivalPag’s summer carnival is the oldest carnival on the Adriatic, but the real carnival happens in winter. The carnival begins in January with dance evenings - tanci - that are held every Saturday. The culmination of the carnival is during the final three days, when it moves outdoors. If you’re looking to both have a good time and become a part of folk tradition, get your masks ready and come. Be who you want to be and let loose at the dances. Join the carnival procession that the town authorities hand the town keys to. Dance the traditional ˝kolo˝ dance from Pag to the sounds of a brass band, view the play Robinja where all roles are performed by men, play the tombola and participate in the competition for the best mask. On the final day (Ash Wednesday), listen to the reading of the last will and testament, be part of the ˝sad˝ funeral procession in black and witness the ritual burning of Marko (a puppet) with which all the evils of the previous year are cleansed.

Packages can be organised for a length for five or more days. The programme outline for a five-day package encompasses: Day 1 - Day 5: accommodation in the town of Pag with the following schedule; tanac dance evening on Saturday, procession and programme on Sunday, children’s carnival on Monday, costume party on Tuesday, funeral procession and the burning of Marko on Wednesday. The package can be realised in February from the last Friday or Saturday before Lent up to Ash Wednesday and beyond for groups between 2 and 50. Three-star private accommodation is available, while transport on the island is possible with own transport or with a van or bus organised by us. Expert-guided tours can be organised in Croatian, English, Italian, German or Russian. Beginners’ Course in Pag LaceThe inclusion of Pag lace on UNESCO’s list of world heritage speaks enough about its value and distinctiveness. Many lovers of handiworks are amazed by its beauty, and many are also impelled to try to create it themselves. Thanks to the nuns of the Benedictine monastery who were the first to teach lacemaking, the weaving of Pag lace has been an important source of income for many women in Pag through history. This special way of weaving lace with thread and needle has been transmitted from mother to daughter for centuries now. Learning the skill of weaving Pag lace is a lengthy process that is, in modern times, taught through the Lacemaking School. However, if you’re keen on handiworks, you can test your skills at a beginners’ course of weaving Pag lace under the guidance of experienced lacemakers from Pag.

Packages can be organised for a length for seven or more days. The programme outline for a seven-day package encompasses: Day 1 - Day 7: daily classes in the town of Pag adapted to the skills of the participants and visits to galleries and museums. The package can be realised in the period between September and late June (we recommend mid-June, when the International Lace Festival is held) for individuals and groups between 2 and 50. Three-star private accommodation and accommodation in three- or four-star hotels is available, while transport on the island is possible with own transport or with a van or bus organised by us. The Historical and Natural Treasures of the Island of Pag

The island of Pag abounds with historical and natural treasures. The first known inhabitants of the island were the Liburnians. Due to the strategic importance of the island, Pag was conquered by the Romans while, later in history, it was occupied for centuries by the Venetian Republic and the Habsburg Monarchy. The island of Pag was also constantly contested by dioceses, which resulted in the destruction and relocation of the main centre of the island of Pag. In spite of the scars left by its turbulent history, Pag and its people have held on to their customs and beliefs. They have also managed to preserve the distinctive landscape of their island, which is the reason why it is visited by many tourists today. Tour the moonlike landscape of the island of Pag, get acquainted with the monuments of times past, hear some interesting tales, tour the natural beauties and values that many global powers coveted and be amazed by the pristineness of the natural environment.

Packages can be organised for a length for five or more days. The programme outline for a five-day package encompasses: Day 1- Day 5: tour of the town of Pag and surrounding villages: Kolan, Šimuni, Novalja, Lun, Povljana, Gorica, Vlašići etc. The package can be realised in the period between September and late November and between March and late June for groups between 2 and 50. Three-star private accommodation and accommodation in three- or four-star hotels is available, while transport on the island is possible with own transport or with a van or bus organised by us. Expert-guided tours can be organised in Croatian, English, Italian, German or Russian. The sacred triangle of Pag links three sacred spots, the three Christian churches built on the foundations of pagan beliefs in Old Slavic gods. It is interesting to note that two of them are in exceptionally inaccessible spots and present a challenge to all lovers of hiking and nature. The remains of the Church of Saint Vitus from the 14th century tell of the tenacity our ancestors needed to reach its heights. It is faced by the remains of the Church of Saint George and a Byzantine fort, while the newest Church of Saint Mary proudly stands on a hill near the saltworks and holds within itself the beginnings of the formation of the town of Pag. Experience the specific Pag landscape in an adventure which links the past and the present, the sparse nature with man’s trust in the gods. Find the link between paganism and Christianity, while at the same time enjoying wondrous views from the highest point of the island.

Three-day to four-day packages are available. An approximate program for a four-day package includes: Day 1: visit to the highest point of the island; Day 2: “škraping” to the remains of the Church of Saint George (for the bravest); Day 3: visit to the Old Town of Pag. Become an Archaeologist in the Region of Zadar

The region around Zadar safeguards historical artefacts that are many thousands years old. Many are not aware of the fact that rich archaeological finding sites are located within Telašćica Nature Park. In the Museum of Antique Glass in Zadar, you can find a unique collection that gathers more than 5000 different glass objects. The most valuable finds in the Museum of Nin Antiquities are two original old Croatian boats from the 11th century, Condura Croatica. Next to them is the replica of a part of the boat Serilia Liburnica from the 1st century. All of the important sites within this region used to be connected with an important route that was, through history, known as the Great Road (Via Magna). Numerous remains of the days of old are located along the length of this important thoroughfare. One interesting detail on Via Magna is the array of stone wells and waterholes next to the road which, through history, were in the service of numerous travellers and their animals. Become an archaeologist and dive into ancient history by visiting the numerous archaeological localities in the environs of Zadar.
