Introduction Within Disclosure Management, the data (stored in Excel files, often referred to as Data Cache) is usually linked to another system. In case of SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), this document outlines how you can link the DM chapter directly to a BPC report. This method uses the EPM add-in (note: Analysis for Office can also be used) and is different than directly getting the data from BW, as described in this wiki

Pre-requisites In order to integrate Disclosure Management with BPC, you need the EPM add-in (Office add-in) and a connection to a BPC system. In this document, I have used EPM add-in SP36, connecting to a BPC Netweaver system (BW 7.4) using the “EnvShell / planning” model

Integration

In Disclosure Management, we have defined an Excel chapter

After checking out this chapter, Excel will launch. As we have the EPM add-in installed, in Excel we

will see both add-ins active.

6

On the EPM ribbon, we connect to BPC…..

….by providing user/password

Note: as you are now connected, you have all usual EPM / BPC functionalities available.

For example, you can open any report stored on the BPC server

Page 7: Disclosure ManagementDISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0) 3 Introduction Within Disclosure Management, the data (stored in Excel files, often referred to as Data Cache) is usually

7

We now define a report in EPM

Page 8: Disclosure ManagementDISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0) 3 Introduction Within Disclosure Management, the data (stored in Excel files, often referred to as Data Cache) is usually

8

On this report, we define a BIP range.

This, effectively, connects the EPM report to Disclosure Management.

TIP

As the EPM report is dynamic (i.e. rows can be expanded and collapsed), it is possible to define a

2nd table, using VLOOKUP and format this table

Page 9: Disclosure ManagementDISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0) 3 Introduction Within Disclosure Management, the data (stored in Excel files, often referred to as Data Cache) is usually

DISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0)

9

You then define another BIP range on this new table

Once you check-in the chapter, this report is known in DM

Page 10: Disclosure ManagementDISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0) 3 Introduction Within Disclosure Management, the data (stored in Excel files, often referred to as Data Cache) is usually

DISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0)

10

Note: if you check-out the chapter again, DM will just show you the Excel report

Clearly, DM is unaware of the various formulas used (e.g. =EPMOlapMemberO). Only after you

connect the report to BPC, can the data be retrieved / refreshed

11

As the Excel has the BIP ranges, in Word, these can be used as normal datalinks

The table will show in Word

DISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0)

12

Note: when using the Excel template…

….you can re-use the format as defined in Excel

Refreshing data

Let us assume, some data changes in BPC (via whatever method; data-load via Data Manager,

direct input etc.)

In this example, data updated via the Input Form

Page 14: Disclosure ManagementDISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0) 3 Introduction Within Disclosure Management, the data (stored in Excel files, often referred to as Data Cache) is usually

DISCLOSURE MANAGEMENT – BPC / EPM (V1.0)

14

If we now check-out the report in Disclosure Management, and refresh via EPM add-in

…the updated data will show in the Excel (and DM) report. This chapter can then be checked back

in.

15

After the EPM refresh, you can refresh the Word chapter that is data-linked to the Excel.

The system indicates that the table has changed

After the successful refresh….

…..the data is updated in the Word chapter
