Message from Leslie, Wow! March is definitely blowing in like a lion. So much to say! First and foremost, I have had so many well wishes as I have shared my mother’s (and my) journey over the past two years. I was fortunate to hold her hand as she passed late January in Texas, surrounded by my siblings. Thank you all for your concern. Now back in my favorite place, here at Poway Senior Center, we are all looking forward to a FUN FUNdraiser with all proceeds benefitting the Senior Center, Pets in the Park at Old Poway Park, new friends, the generosity of the Walmart Academy and Foundation for a generous donation. Come join us here or at the Park on March 24
th. More good news to follow next month!

Sunrise Senior Living Thursday, March 15 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Activity Room 1
Is it time for Senior Living? Senior living is designed for older adults who value their independence, but need some support with daily activities. There are many types of senior living communities to accommodate varying levels of care needs and lifestyle preferences. Retirement communities (similar to Sunrise independent living communities) offer private living quarters, and provide help with household chores, cooking, care coordination, and transportation if the resident so desires. Sunrise assisted living communities also provide support for day-to-day activities, as well as a 24-hour care team, a schedule of events from which residents can choose each day, and a complete dining program.
Deciding the time is right for senior living for yourself or your loved one is a highly personal decision, based on many factors specific to your family. Join us to see how we can help you make the right choice.
1-day, Renewal Course for people who have taken An AARP Smart Driving Course within 4 years of the course date.

$15.00 fee AARP members $20.00 non-members.
How the AARP Smart Driver Course will help you:
Update driving skills and your knowledge of the rules - and hazards - of the road.
Learn about normal age-related physical changes and how to adjust your driving to compensate.
Reduce your chances of receiving a traffic violation, getting into an accident, or becoming injured.
Get an insurance discount. Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multi-year discount to course graduates! (Some states may have restrictions on accepting an online driver improvement course for insurance discounts. Please consult your insurance agent for more information about discounts in your state.)
Reserve your spot by calling Poway Senior Center reception desk at 858-748-6094. Please pay by CHECK ONLY on day of attending course.

EVENTS
Free Income Tax Service Provided by AARP
Call Poway Senior Center
858 748-6094 to make your appointment!
How Well-Trained Are the Volunteers? AARP does not let
just anyone volunteer for the Tax-Aide program. All volunteers
are required to undergo a thorough training course mandated
and created by the IRS. They are well-trained in how to handle
the 1040 Form and the standard schedules. IRS annually
certifies the Tax-Aide Volunteers. PSC has the best! Recently
recognized by IRS for high accuracy.
Not for Complex Returns If you have rental properties, a Schedule C (not C-EZ), a complex Schedule D, a Schedule F, or an otherwise complicated tax
return, then AARP Tax-Aide (or any VITA program) is not for you. You should hire an experienced tax preparer –
preferably a CPA.
Bistro Hours: 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Suggested donation for seniors 60+ is $4.00.
Non-senior price is $ 6.00.
Please register with our lunch check-in desk.

those who reside in the local area. Call us to see if your
zip code qualifies, and to arrange scheduling.

inability to contribute. Menu subject to change.
