Director’s LetterKnown as “The Master” by his contemporaries, Noel Coward was an incomparable talent. Artist, playwright, director, composer, lyricist and actor he had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. He once remarked that his life had been one long extravaganza. He surround-ed himself with talented and witty friends who shared his passion for the arts, for laughter and for living. I have been fortunate enough to do the same while sharing this madcap ad-venture with dear friends both old and new. I will long treasure the time we spent together. Thank you, dear audience, for joining us this evening. My hope is that you have as much fun watching the production as we have had performing it for you. I leave you with the very appropriate words of “The Master” himself, the final poem Mr. Coward wrote.

When I have fears, as Keats had fears,Of the moment I’ll cease to be

I console myself with vanished yearsRemembered laughter, remembered tears,

And the peace of the changing sea.

When I feel sad, as Keats felt sad,That my life is so nearly done

It gives me comfort to dwell uponRemembered friends who are dead and gone

And the jokes we had and the fun.

How happy they are I cannot know,But happy am I who loved them so.

Bonnie Hewett, Director
